The part where he got a taste of another life outside of his hometown and he said to himself “THAT’S my life and I have to get back to it”. That is powerful.
This needs to be heard by everyone. Especially when your own family think it’s all an imagination only in a dream, it gets so hard to chase. Let alone haven’t even touched or see the dream.
It really is powerful and so resonating!! I'm so glad you commented and reminded me that he said that!! Thanks. 😊 It's so, so true. This episode was bomb.. ❤️
It’s rare that I get this emotional on a podcast. But this one hit me to the core! I grew up listening to Jeezy in my teens. And the connections of survival along with the very last minutes… the friends I’ve lost. I wish I could’ve done better reaching out! But I can do that now! Thank you Ed for allowing real people who are at high elevated level and success to come down and be there authentic selves. 💯
Met Jeezy back in 07 at the Street Dreams tour he picked me out of a crowd of people and shook my hand what a feeling that was because that same year his album Thug Motivation 101 inspired me to hustle when I was homeless and that hustle got me in a place in 5 months, I am grateful for him and his music! Great interview Ed!
I was working at a club in Las Vegas and I met Jeezy, I believe in 2006. I come from a street background as well so i was a huge fan. He single handedly put me on my path to health/mental health through our conversation...He told me he stopped smoking Weed and was drinking more water, eating better and going to the gym. I was so taken back that the most reputable "street rapper" that ever lived was giving me this information. That's where my journey on health/mental health and true growth began. I am so proud of him and to have cross paths with him I am not surprised to see his growth & It is amazing to watch and still learn from. Great interview Ed & Jeezy. Much Love...
Seeing Jeezy float into his next chapter of life with such grace and perspective is nothing short of heart-warming. It isn't often we get to witness this from our favorite rappers from that era, and it makes this conversation all the more important + special. Thank you for this interview!
Wow. This is probably one of my favorite interviews. I don’t know how as a 44 year old caucasian woman, I can relate to Jeezy Angie had me doing bumpy, thinking! Thanks to the both of you!
That was amazing!! Definitely need a part two update! Imagine him as a team member in your company that helps families!! The familes he could reach would be phenomenal!!
This was an amazing, honest and rawest interview I’ve watched. OMG! So much knowledge, healing, growth and humility shared. Sent this to my sons to watch. This is an important message young black men need to see. Looking forward to reading Jeezy’s book. Giving it to my sons as part of their Christmas gift. Thank you JEEZY and thank you Ed for being open to do this interview! ❤
What an interview. Amazing stuff. Thanks so much Ed and Jeezy. been listening to jeezy for almost 20 years now. I grew up listening to him. I remember when the recesion dropped in highschool. What an album and man did it relate to the crazy times we had. and i always felt like i could relate to him finding a way to make it in whatever means necessary. Jeezy the snowman! God bless and keep on keepin on!!
This is a sign of God two of my most inspirational and influential people are sitting across from each other 😮 this has to be a sign that I'm on the right path......
J is the best man..stoked to see him on your channel. Been looking up to Jeezy since trap or die 101 been through it all myself..very happy to see the progression. Streets are waiting patiently for the next chapter of jeezy
So many moments and quotes that are truly inspiring. “If I don’t figure this out, this is will be my life for the rest of my life”. I know that feeling and have changed the path I was on for sure. Destination unknown but onward and upward! Thank you both 💙
Thank you Jeezy! You’ve always been like a big brother for me, I grew up without both of my parents so I learned how to take care of myself from the streets, like you did. I now own my own business, and you played a major part in my transition. You remain to be one of the only ppl on earth that I can relate to and that I’m 100% certain that you actually get it! I’m proud of you and your evolution and growth. I’m riding with you to the wheels fall off big bro ⛄️👑💯
This is one of the best and most personally impactful episodes, so far! Not even close.. This dude! Jeezy!! New fan. Love you already. You're genuine, wise and humble. 💛 Both of you made me feel that rare, but familiar, "Street", real-life and wise child who figured it out!! Thank God! Someone who's honest, awesome, nice and a little dysfunctional from life, but won't quit learning life, like me! It's so rare and refreshing finding another kindred soul, like AHA! You're like me! Different walk of life, but you learned too, to figure it out, so you make it out, unlike most others who didn't get out, so we got this!! 💪Jeezy!! You have a new class pupil! This is so resonating. Bittersweet, because that's life, but the lessons and wisdom on the other side!!! I have the chaos gift/curse as well and never realized it until last year, when Ed put a name to it! I referred to it as being the one who prefers to be 'Thrown into the lions den!' to learn new life skills, instead of the normal, comfortable easing into something and staying put that works for most and that's fine! That's just never been me and it's so weird, but makes so much sense now that I'm an Entrepreneur lol and thriving in that chaos is truly a craft/power when you need to use it, FOR SURE. It separates you on a different level, if you're blessed to get through it, truly and your brain just makes you see, frame and therefore, walk different paths than most. Lonlier and it makes generic social convos harder for an extended period of time, but I digress. 🤣 You see the world differently and in some of it's worst forms, but that's KNOWLEDGE and you figured it out to this point! Plus, so much more that builds that truly unique depth in the human psyche! Knowledge is THE power. Love you both!! Thank you!! 🔥❤️🙏🏻 #MAXOUT #ONEMORE #HUMBLE
Gents! This is sooooo beautiful! And perfectly timed for me… As Ed said different stories, universal truths… I have been too blessed, not utilize my gifts and give back to God. Thank you guys so much.
Although Jeezy and I are polar opposite people, I have never felt so connected to someone as I do him. Our lives are very parallel in so many ways, it actually made me emotional. He and I share so many qualities and characteristics and this entire interview resonates DEEP with me. Love you Ed, love you Jeezy! Fan for life.
How come this guy never spoke about his time growing up in Hawaii and Japan? Where is this guy from exactly? There’s mystery surrounding his actual background. Seeing that his father has a military background, this guy is more than likely an asset…..Assets don’t just sprout out of nowhere, they are groomed and cultivated.
The streets should be part of every job hiring process! The streets ain't no slouch and damn sure ain't no joke!!!! These streets teach hard knock lessons on the daily! That should be valued way more than it is!!!! Facts! 💯 Applaud to Jeezy! Well done and very well said!!! Keep going bro! You inspire so many of us that may not be exactly like you but have seen some of the situations you've been and talked about!!! We need you bro!!! Mad love homie!!!!
I love how deep both of you are. I feel 100 percent the same as the both of you about being your authentic self and to be transparent. I pray I can find myself around more people like you guys.
This interview is wholesome, rich in content, and absolutely valuable. It crosses cultural lines and boundaries to drive relatable emotions through different experiences within the life, trials, and tribulations of Jay “Jeezy” Jenkins! Well done!
Wow!!! This is my first introduction to JEEZY and I am so grateful Ed!🙏🏻 He is inspiring on so many levels and we definitely need more men like him. He has a growth mindset and a heart for service by recognizing that he is a role model that can benefit his culture. I also have mad respect for him acknowledging the price he paid on his road to his success in connection and relationships with important people in his life by being closed off. So many people wouldn’t have the courage to admit that they could have handled that differently. Thanks JEEZY! When we know better, we can do better! So glad I have been introduced and can read your book for more learning! ❤️
Ed, I loved your comment about maintaining our expectations and awareness of God’s blessings in our lives, otherwise we will miss them. So true. God is always present and guiding us.
Such a great podcast today, thank you both for this blessing. As a young man growing up in high school, Jeezy was such a big rap star among so many students I knew. I wasn’t one to listen to him much but I knew his songs. I always wondered what happened to him and I actually thought that not too long ago, and here he is. I’m so glad he got out of that life, he is such an intelligent man and I’m so glad he is much happier now that when he was younger. Keep it up Jezzy, much respect to you sir.
SERENDIPITOUS ! 6 years ago TODAY I was shot in my chest 2 inches from my heart ( illegal dealer ) . When I left the hospital I had a new relationship with young Jeezy and his song “ Soul Survivor”. I’ve always believed in the universe and energy. I’ve changed and dedicated myself to helping my people avoid recreating my past in their future. I am the 1st for my Family, “The Power of One More “ goes with me in my life and I actively discuss it with others. Ed, I’ve followed you for some time , your level of belief that you express and the intensity , the energy you bring to your content has CONSISTENTLY given me permission to overcome my previous self and be the 1 for my Family. When we meet , I will bring an audience! - all this and I haven’t even listened to the content yet!! This is SERENDIPITOUS indeed!!! Thank you Ed!
Loved this podcast Ed. You are one podcaster that can bring a tear to my eye. I don’t even know why. But your love and sincerity for your guests is beyond. God Bless you 🙏
New subscriber , I can see them becoming great friends which is amazing. This will be good for both of them , proximity is important it’s how u allow people from other walks of life into your life !
Thank you for sharing, such vulnerability, raw truthfulness, it takes a lot of courage to be able to share your authenticity. There will be some with an unforgiving opinion or little compassion and that’s ok. That’s a reflection within themselves…. all I can say is thank you for sharing JEEZY and thank you Mylett for allowing this man a sacred space to speak his truth. ❤ #tearitup MY JAM 😅
Ed I love how you love and what a big heart you have. I love it when you tell the guests we are friends now. We are going to keep in contact from now on.
Thank you for this. I left the music industry as a songwriter so this is going to be insightful. Now I'm in the biz of helping sahm find freedom by equipping them the skills to create the life of their dreams. I've learned so much from you Ed. Serving others is really the best job in the world.
What a beautiful and meaningful conversation, I enjoyed it the whole Time. Thank you for honoring God in your lives..Awesome! 🎉 @EdMylett @Jeezy Keep it up!!!❤
