Step 1: Find a Friday prayer service
Use Muslim acquaintances or a Website to find a Friday prayer service near you. Most are held around lunchtime.
    Tip
Friday prayer services do not always happen in a mosque. University students often arrange Friday prayers in an empty hall or auditorium. Mosques in urban areas host prayers in satellite locations, such as downtown office buildings or even churches.
    Step 2: Purify your intention
As with all acts in Islam, take a quiet moment to purify your intention, affirming that you plan to attend Friday prayers for God’s sake alone.
    Tip
While Friday is usually a holiday in Muslim-majority countries, it’s a regular workday elsewhere, and some men are not able to attend as a result. Do your best to fit Friday prayers into your work schedule.
Step 3: Take a shower or bath
If you are able and you have time, take a shower or bath on Friday morning, as this practice was recommended by the Prophet Muhammad, who advised his followers to keep clean.
Step 4: Dress in clean, modest clothes
Dress in clean, modest clothes. For men, this means no shorts. For women, this means covering the arms and legs, avoiding tight or revealing clothing, and bringing along a headscarf.
    Tip
Cologne is recommended for men, but perfume for women should be avoided.
    Step 5: Remove your shoes
When entering the mosque or prayer area, remove your shoes. This is the moment of truth for your socks!
Step 6: Enter prayer area with right foot first
Enter the prayer area with your right foot first. If the mosque is segregated according to gender, women should enter the women’s area, and men should enter the men’s area.
    Tip
If you have small children, you may prefer to leave them at home. If you need to, however, you can bring them. Children of all ages are a common sight at Friday prayers. If a child is very disruptive, or if a baby can’t stop crying, however, you may have to leave with them.
    Step 7: Offer voluntary prayer
If you are Muslim, offer two cycles of voluntary prayer, known as tahyatul masjid salah, which means literally, 'the prayer to greet the mosque.'
    Tip
If you are not Muslim, take a moment to sit quietly and offer your own prayers.
Step 8: Sit next to other congregants on the floor
Sit next to other congregants on the floor. Choose the available space closest to the front of the room. In other words, the front rows should be filled first, particularly because the back rows should be left open for latecomers.
    Step 9: Listen to adhan
Listen as a fellow congregant gives the adhan, or call to prayer. This means the Friday prayer service has begun; refrain from talking at this point.
Step 10: Sit quietly & listen to imam
Sit quietly and listen while the imam, or prayer leader, offers a sermon, or khutbah. The first half the khutbah is the longest, followed by a brief period when the imam will sit down and offer silent prayers. Then he will stand again to deliver the shorter final section of the sermon.
    Tip
A sermon will always open and close with words in Arabic. Hopefully, the language of the sermon itself will be one you understand. If not, be patient and ask someone near you for a translation when it is over.
    Step 11: Listen to iqaamah
After the sermon, a man will stand to give the iqaamah, a shortened version of the call to prayer, which indicates the prayer itself is about to commence.
Step 12: Line up shoulder to shoulder
Stand up and move so you are standing shoulder to shoulder with the people on your left and right, forming a straight line that faces the qibla, or direction pointing to Mecca. Your shoulders, arms or feet can be lightly touching other people’s.
    Tip
If you are not Muslim, ask someone where you can sit to observe the prayers. Generally, non-Muslims should not join in the prayer.
    Step 13: Perform salat
Perform two cycles of the ritual prayer, or salat, following along with the imam.
    Step 14: Greet other people
When the prayer is over, be sure to greet the people praying on either side of you when they are finished, either by shaking their hands and saying, 'May Allah accept your prayers,' or by simply smiling.
Step 15: Make a charitable contribution
If you wish, make a charitable contribution as you leave. Boxes for contributions are generally available near the exit.
    Did You Know?
The Prophet Muhammad was known for giving short sermons, but don’t expect everyone to follow that lead-some sermons can last more than an hour.

This is super helpful. I am a Christian and will be attending a prayer service with one of my Muslim friends in a few weeks. He came to my church last week. I've been teaching about Christianity and hes been teaching me about Islam so we can better understand each other and our respective faiths. We definitely have differences, but can still love and respect each other.

Let me tell you quickly what ISLAM is..
Allah is the God of mankind
Allah is the name of God that Jesus himself used in his native language (Aramic language) to refer to God alone.
Allah is the God of Jesus, Moses, Muhammad.
Jesus, Muhammad and Moses are brothers in prophethood, they came with the same message from the same Creator (Allah) and so did all the prophets of God that was sent to mankind through history, to worship God (Allah) alone and follow the path of the prophets to God.
The Arabic word that is the meaning of all this is ISLAM.
May Allah bless you with guidance and your family, all you who love and us all.. Amen

Assalamualaikum. My wife and I traveled to Pakistan in June 2018. We met a university student from Pakistan when she attended a US school. Her family invited us to visit them during the last few days of Ramazan (Urdu spelling, I believe) and to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with them. It was very moving for us. At the final iftar dinner, my wife and I were both very moved. When we asked how to pray with them, they showed us how they show humility before God by covering their faces. When we asked what to pray for, we were told we could pray as we liked. The mother of the family did not speak a great deal of English (and we spoke less Urdu!). She said, "You pray for us and we pray for you." Yeah. That was worth tearing up over. Pakistani people we met were very friendly, open and accepting of us wherever we traveled. Mashallah. We hope to return in the next two years, inshallah.

I don't know the reasoning for non-muslims not being able to participate in prayer with Muslims... but I think it's because... what's the point if you don't know what you are saying and what you are doing in the first place? When a Muslim prays, he has to have intention to worship Allah, free from this world's matters. I guess that's why you can't participate:
If ur in another religion, you aren't praying to the Muslim's God, you're praying to your religion's God.
However, these are just my speculation on the matter. Please don't take my words too seriously as I also don't know :p

You forgot to mention that the first worshipper to enter the mosque for jumma prayers gets blessings equal to a camel.
The second person a reward equal to a cow.
The third person a reward in blessings equal to a goat.
    The fourth, a chicken.
    Fifth, an egg.
Also, there is a specially appointed angel standing at the door of the mosque for Friday Jumma prayers.
His job is to record the names of those who arrive at the mosque before the Imam.
Once the Imam has arrived, the angel xsee his book and stops recording any more names.
So aim to be the first worshipper to enter the mosque for Jumma.
    InshaAllah.

There is a press report to day that there have been objections from people of other religion against saying Juma prayers on the road by blocking passage. We agree the Muslims cannot be problem to others. Indian Government should take against this practice. Similarly the people of other religions also cannot publicly disturb people of other religion in conducting their religious rituals. Religion is not for creating problems but these are for peace and keeping harmony amongst all.

Simple and straight forward facts. Of course the segregated part is perhaps one controversy that non-Muslims such as myself would point out. Otherwise, I can understand the discipline one must have before entering a mosque: appearance and intent.
I would wish to observe a sermon someday; however, I usually have gas around lunch time and and I don't want the whole mosque to hear it during the quiet parts of the sermon (-_-)'

Friday is for majority men's worship let's be real. Some Islamic Muslim men are so really kind sincere and want to love n care for a wife n be a good loyal man but I only met one I took sincerely to wed that really brought every demon, occult n djinn on the surface n who was hurtful n evil 2 me yet indulgent to me all the while monetarily in the first n only physically in the last. I will leave all pain n confuse n lies n do my own journey. Deception, hurt, lies, fornication, worldliness, greed adultery, polygamy n disrespect is never the way 2 accept a religion for me. I loved him before but he disapproved and despised me so to me he represented the worst as did I for Issa n Jehófa to him. Best we find our own journey. Now I know. #GOODBYE YESTERDAY God lead me. Amen

one more thing, there is no place in the Qu'ran where it says to stone. But in the bible, it said more than once. Example "Deuteronomy 22:13-29 If a man is found lying with the wife of another man, both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman; so you shall purge the evil from Israel. "If there is a betrothed virgin, and a man meets her in the city and lies with her, then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them to death with stones"

    Lets have peace

    • @worfoz
      @worfoz 6 років тому

      Lets have peace
maybe by starting to respect people?
what if i told you your muhammed is a messenger of my fun culture instead of prophet of your sect, like you say mad things ab out Jesus?
Your Isa is a muslim, Jesus was not: you muhammedans are extremely disrespectful making false claims about the Messiah of the Christians.
Moses was not a muslim, read his books and don;t lie they are corrupted.
Prophets are not free of sins, the bible explains that so you reject the bible, too much truth.
You can not respect the people of the book, the prophets, their messages so stop saying you believe in Jesus, you believe in Isa, muhammeds lies all contradicting the bible and all prophets.
Also read suran 29;27, you are not real brothers and sisters, muhammed is not from the lineage of prophets, the lineage of Abram, Isaac and Jacob. You reject all true prophets, their books and messages.
