    That’s a really cool feature. Never seen this before on a synth.

    Wow! That turns the synth into a guitar to midicon converter!
    Excellent! Thank you for this trick!
    I'll try my bass for sure! 😀

    Thanks for this video!! I have mine since 2016 and only discovered this function now! I like it because i am used to playing the bass and struggle a lot on the keys. Although there is a bit of latency and it doesn't catch all the notes if you play too fast, i find this very good for creating melodies and riffs using my bass guitar, then recording it right after on the keys.

    Thanks for this video. I don't know about all of the songs but your opener was Cars by Gary Numan. It sounded better than I expected it would.

  • @wakingdream3
    @wakingdream3 5 років тому +6

    I tried this with a couple different guitars and basses and it seems unusable. I'm surprised you got it to sound as good as you did for the Cars riff. I matched your recommended settings, but my experience sounds more like what you hear at 4:55, where it only triggers the 1st note (with audible latency) and then no notes after that. And the auto-tune often warbles all over the place. The tracking is really off, and sometimes it lags really bad too. For instance, 5:08 also has major lag. Thanks for the really cool idea though!

      It is pretty unusable. The last time I used this feature was for this video. I mainly made this video because there are others on UA-cam about it that dont provide enough information on how to set it up.

    Hey Joey, what's going on man. If you could possibly take the time to explain what some of these settings are, I would really appreciate it...On the system settings (input section), what does the level, NS SW, NS Threshold, NS Release do? And if you wouldn't mind, what is local switch, Tx Edit Data, and Soft through? I look alot of these things up, but not alot of videos explain these things, because nobody has videos on these settings in the Roland JD-XI menu? If you could just try to give me some answers to those, I would really appreciate it. Manuals are confusing to me, because they don't explain what these are in plain terms for someone like me to understand. I know about this machine pretty good, but I don't have a clue what alot of these settings do? If you want to, Thanks man...SBN

    How are you getting your drum sounds to sound so good? Any tricks or tips? And one more thing, when I hook my jd xi into the computer with usb, it only controls the sounds in the the daw, like a midi controller, how do I get it to where I can record what is on my jd xi or coming from it into the daw, so I can hear it coming out, instead of the sounds of the daw?

    • @ghoststalkermusic
      @ghoststalkermusic  4 роки тому

      What DAW are you using? Most likely in the preferences for MIDI/Audio Input.

    • @natanmandala

      @@ghoststalkermusic I have fl studio 20, and I do go into preferences, and select jd xi, but like I said, it becomes a midi controller, controlling the fl studio sounds through usb. I'm trying to play the sounds from the jd xi into the daw or somehow sync it with the daw? Is that possible with usb? If I can't sync it, then I just want to play the sounds into fl studio 20? I know this is simple for tech guys, but I am just now learning about wires and how to sync these tools together?

    • @ghoststalkermusic

    • @Spoon--mp7xs
      @Spoon--mp7xs 4 роки тому +1

      theres a headphone out put on the back and a left and right out put as well, you can plug those that right into the focusrite, like you would a guitar

    • @crnkmnky
      @crnkmnky 3 роки тому

      You can also try plugging the keyboard’s USB cable directly into your computer, because the JD-Xi is an audio interface by itself.

    i have a question . can you export the tracks out of jd xi ?

    • @ghoststalkermusic
      @ghoststalkermusic  5 років тому +2

      I believe you can make a backup of all your data to a computer. So if I back it up (not sure what the file type is) and my jdxi dies tomorrow I can get a new one and import my back up to it. As far as just music goes I have to use the USB connection and record it to a DAW like I would any other instrument.

      @@ghoststalkermusic I just plug it right directly into my interface and record on FL Studio with actual audio files. I didn't know that the USB can transmit sound as well. Does the jdxi act as an interface?

    • @ghoststalkermusic
      @ghoststalkermusic  4 роки тому +2

      @@djstatyk1540 yup. You can cut out the middle man and use the usb connection instead of the line out to interface.

    Awesome! Bass arp is great!
    Can you also record what you play into the jdxi via guitar input?

    • @ghoststalkermusic
      @ghoststalkermusic  5 років тому +2

      You can, but it's not recording the guitar's direct sound. The guitar is going into the synth and then using auto tune to turn into notes. So in a way you can, but it's not very accurate. It's easier to just play and record the part on the keys at that point for me.
      In order to incorporate guitar parts I use a Ditto X4 looper using MIDI sync with the JDXi.

    • @thebmxband1t
      @thebmxband1t 5 років тому +1

      GHOSTSTALKER oooh a ditto. I have been long range looking at a BOSS RC505 with behringer midi footpedal combi.
      Ok so it does sorta input notes into the sequencer but not to be trusted timingwise. 👍

    • @ghoststalkermusic
      @ghoststalkermusic  5 років тому +3

      @@davebrockman43 sure, the guitar goes directly into the ditto x4 input and the output from the ditto x4 goes directly to the amp. I run a MIDI cable from the MIDI Out on my JDXi to the MIDI In on my Ditto x4. The JDXi is sending the tempo to the Ditto x4.
