    thanks so much, i made one of these for my office and it is incredibly useful!
    for anyone else that wants to mess around with it: i placed the name above the room number and in the properties setting for the 'room name' text string, you can set the text line from 'single' to 'multiple' and change the justification to 'bottom' or bottom left, bottom center, etc. depending on how you want the tag to look.
    patrick, thanks again!

    Hi Patrick, thanks a lot for this video tutorial, it opened another level for autocad user as me ! :)
    but i have a question, i wasnt able to find answer else yet...
    The question is whether it is possible to add another/new paramater to the ROOMTAG later on. I mean lets say i already have a floor plan with the tags, that you taught us, and they are working, but i want to show one extra parameter, that would be not the full area of the polyline, but lets say only 90% of it. I would imagine that if i was creating a new one i would manage it with formula 0,9*plotarea,
    BUT the question is whether i can add this kind of parameter later, so it would show it in all the roomtags that i have already placed in a project.
    thanks a lot again !

      You can easily add another attribute to all blocks using the attsync command. Changing all the calculations afterwards seems to be tricky, atm. I have no idea how to do that. Maybe somebody else can help you? It is actually a very good idea to add an invisible calculation variable to the block and connect it to the area calculation. If it is there at the beginning, it is no problem no change all calculation afterwards, for example to subtract 3% for plaster.

    thanks Patrick, how do you attach this to another polyline? or do you have do this for each polyline

    • @patricklipczinsky8988

      Hi Martin, as I wrote before you build the tag one time and connect the attributes to a polyline or hatch. Then you just copy the the tag together with the polyline. The tag stays connected to each copy you made. So you just create copies and adjust the polyline/hatch to the particular room situation. Each copy of the tag together with polyline will be unique. Hope it helped.

      @@patricklipczinsky8988 Hi Patrick, thank you very musch for this useful tutorial. The only thing which is not working with this is that when you copy the room tag from drawing to drawing the connection between the attributes and the polyline is not maintained. I saw working attribute with position points defined in the attribute block. Have you seen something like this? Thank you maty

      @@matydonatova7305 I use quite the same version of the room tag in daily work in different drawings, creating copies should work fine. You can send me your version of the tag to admin@lp-arch.de and I will take a look. Greetings.

    Hi Patrick,
    Thanks for the tutorial. My question is what can I do to retain the room tags without the polyline. I tried hiding the layer of the polyline but it hides the tag also.
    Best regards

      Hi Elmedin, if you put the text, the roomtag and the polyline on different layers, it should be no problem to hide or freeze certain elements. Hope that works?

      Patrick Lipczinsky Hi Patrick,
      Yeah I did. But it somehow hides them both. But I ve put the polyline 0.00 thick so it doesnt show when printing. Thanks anyway.
      Gruße!

    This was very helpfull, and i got it working, and made a file/block with the table and the attributes and polyline, but when i insert it, in a new drawing it wont work, not even if i create a new dataextraction based on the first one.
    Is there a way to implement this in a template file, and then just point to the new location where I want my new .dxe file?

      I´m not really sure what you are trying to achieve but it seems like quite some people have problems using the room tag in another drawing. I assume you created the room tag together with a table and you just copy it over to another drawing. If you open the external reference palette you see the data extraction still references the old .dxe file from the other drawing. You will always need one unique .dxe for each data extraction. Now you change all room tags according to the new drawing. You can just copy or delete the tags together with the polyline. You will need to create a new data extraction in order to save a new .dxe file. This should be done with using the preferences of the one you already created. If you want to use your old table that you copied over, you need to change the path in the external reference palette to the new .dxe file. But, according to my understanding, this will not speed up your work because with the creation of the new. dxe you just can insert a new table to the drawing. Does that help?

      @@patricklipczinsky8988 well, i have tried to figure out what I was doing wrong, because i got it to work, if I had a file with the tag, and the .dxe file, and copied it to another folder, and changed the path to the .dxe file, it worked.
      But my intention was to implement this in the .dwt file, with the polyline and roomtag, and then copy the .dxe file to the case folder, and repath it, but that did not work.
      My table is edited, so my header are changed to more "reader friendly" text :-), so it would be wery timeconsuming to make it fram skratch each time, also because i have added the TOTAL and the 2 x sum functions.
      I did get a working result, that i could replicate time after time.
      The table is in my .dwt file, and when i use it, i save it in the casefolder, and copy the .dxe file to the casefolder too, and then change the the path to the .dxe file, and then choose "Edit an exsisting data extraction" and selcet the tag, and then insert the new table, and then i am being notified about a change in the .dxe file.
      I just delete the new table, and then my original table, with the TOTAL and the 2 functions works :-)
      But there is still an issue, regarding if I save the file in a new name, e.g. with an updated date, my table is back to the original, so it seems like the .dxe file know what .dwg file it was created from.
      But thanks alot :-)

    Hi Patrick, can we place this Area Tag and Polyline on a Tool Pallet ?

    • @patricklipczinsky8988
      @patricklipczinsky8988  4 роки тому

      Hi. The easiest way to share the room tag over a network location might be the Design Center or the Block Palette in Autocad. Combine the Polyline/Hatch with the Room Tag in another block reference , import from separate file an explode it for further use. Maybe there is a better way?

    how do the new tag know what polygon to calc ?

    • @patricklipczinsky8988
      @patricklipczinsky8988  7 років тому

      Hi there. You just have to copy the tag together with the polyline. If you change the polyline, the tag will adjust automatically.

      Hi Patrick! How does it work if the new room is not rectangular?

    • @patricklipczinsky8988
      @patricklipczinsky8988  6 років тому

      You just have to adjust the polyline to the shape of the room. I showed at the beginning of the video how to change the shape of the polyline. Hope it helps you.
