The pin doesn't ignite the grenades fuse. The lever flying off after pulling the pin, then releasing the grenade ignites the fuse. And yes you can put the pin back in if the levers still attached.

You have to release the handle before the timer starts. A 'cooked' grenade is one you hold onto after releasing so theres less delay after throwing. Don't cook grenades people.

If that grenade was live (stun or explosive) he can't change his mind about it going off. It's impossible to put the pin back in.. he may have been making the gesture.

As far as I'm aware removing the pin allows the lever to disengage and that only happens when you've released the grenade. Otherwise grenades would be going off by accident all the time. It's the lever release that ignites the fuse.

Edit: I did some googling and the tree seems to have mutliple names in both religions, Garqad (Isalm) and Atad (Judaism), and it seems like there are plenty of this tree being planted in Israel over the last years.
