my biggest score recently has been picking up an NEC XP37 plus for $30!!! I was finally able to go anc pick it up earlier this week. Can't wait to see this bad boy in action!!
Wait wait wait, Steve I thought you were located in TN? When did you move to Virginia? I am located in Woodbridge up in the northern part of the state. I wouldn't mind making a drive to you to drop off a PVM for a recap/refresh my good man.
Always a risk shipping a CRT monitor. I’ve bought only a couple shipped and both times, they were damaged. The first one had the entire front bezel shattered and the rear cover had sheared off the screw stand-offs. Thanks for sharing your experience!!
I found the exact same coil, had it shipped from US, waited 1 month, turned it on and fixed my monitor in 10 seconds. Couldn’t believe it, thought it was a goner. Thanks Steve! Now I have a really obscure tool that will just lay around forever lol.
Spectacular gear, exceptional content and I am drooling over each of those units and the fact that you were fortunate & talented enough to score a matching pair GOD DAMN!! Dear Santa…I have not been good, but I have wants!!
i recently bought a pvm 9l3 and the packing was just 2 pieces of polystyrene taped to the front and back of the monitor in a cardboard box, but luckily there was no damage
Man I wish I was this lucky finding PVMs. The one I bought from a medical reseller physically looked good enough, but the UI of the endoscope or whatever it was hooked up to is burned in.
I feel that you received a good deal Steve. Plus, a pro like yourself with Brutus your assistant near you, you'll be able to make these units work better than new bro. 8^) Anthony..
Great video once again, I did not know that such a degaussing tool existed. Thx again for the very informative video. And happy for you regarding the great deal you managed to get on these ! A+
I got a PVM-1341 from ebay for $350 and $120 shipping and from the photos it was well taken care of only a few marks here and there, and comes with all the original packaging. Seems it came from a production company and they put the pvm's they used in storage 2 decades ago.
Beautiful. You degaussed the dog crap outta those monitors. I got sick when you opened that first box with that paper-thin padding along the top. Glad they survived the trip, though.
This is fantastic, I have the same monitor (olympus version) and it was $100, but it was sent to me wrapped only in brown paper. It works but has the identical issue as these. I have to find one of these tools that can be shipped to Japan!
After counting the same pixels between my arcade crt cabinet and my tablet using a shader and found zero differences in games, don't know about response time yet, but i can tell you that they will be replaced once again by flats.
Have you read about the recommendation that you use bar-shaped degaussers instead when dealing with Trinitron tubes? According to the one document I read (can't remember if it was from Sony or maybe Mitsubishi), ring-shaped degaussers can cause the aperture grille wires to get criss-crossed. But I guess you've fixed quite a few Trinitrons with this degausser at this stage. I take it you've never had any problems?
I really wish I could have one of these monitors for my Super Nintendo. Unfortunately, I do not have $700 Ebay's prices plus $200 shipping to Canada to spare for a monitor.
Hey Steve, love the vids. Doing gods work in the crt arena! Can I ask your thoughts on factory reseting a PVM? I've got no menu on 20m2mde, so navigating menus blind. Some have warned me off factory reseting (if I can ever find the right button combo to do that)
hello, i have one question. I have a Sony trinitron 50Hz Tv for my snes and n64. It would be very nice if you could help me. is it possible for a TV technican to fix a horizontal bowing that is on the bottom and on the top? thank you
I have a question for you, i'm really struggling with speakers for my CRT setup. The bookshelf speakers I like magnet effects purity of my CRT. Apparently no one makes decent quality shielded speakers anymore. If I setup my speakers as I like then use a degausser tool wand, would that help my speakers and CRT co exist? I already tired the tuna can over the driver and it didn't help.
question what happens if your PVM is stuck a single color cables are fine and i have to turn off / on a few times before the colors go normal any fix to this?
The amount of money you spend on those old CRTs you might think you'd spend a few bucks for a sharper box cutter blade. You can barely cut the tape. 🤣👌
I do have links to the Degaussing tool in the Description. It is still available through certain electronic suppliers.
There is something really satisfying about seeing a successful degauss. Well done
Here in Peru its almost imposible to get one of those, hope some day i will find one of those gems 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Moment of silence for the great Fry's Electronics.
It still hurts

Recently i got pvm 14N5MDE for 75€ here in Serbia. I was sooo lucky..
Sony crt were the best tv ever made.

Getting a matched pair of CRTs is such a treat.
I found the exact same coil, had it shipped from US, waited 1 month, turned it on and fixed my monitor in 10 seconds. Couldn’t believe it, thought it was a goner. Thanks Steve!

Just bought this degaussing coil for the exact same issue, because I was an idiot an left a BOSE speaker on top of my CRT. Thanks for the model.
instant pixel response with fluid motion, even at 15fps, I miss the CRT days.
These picture these PVMs produce is out of this world
Spectacular gear, exceptional content and I am drooling over each of those units and the fact that you were fortunate & talented enough to score a matching pair GOD DAMN!! Dear Santa…I have not been good, but I have wants!!
I'd love to have one that size, and degaussing aside, i think the price is surprising
Happy these beauts showed up in good shape for you and that the degauss worked so well.
its really easy to make your own degaussing tool , you just need a degaussing coil from a old tv and put a switch with one power cable
sony pvm price are too high for the average retrogamer guy
Love the WCW/nWo Revenge music at the beginning 😎👌

It’s really cool that you upgraded your equipment, the new video quality is great :) Also, your edit is much better 👍🏻
Awesome. Nice score and good job with the degaussing. They look great.
I feel that you received a good deal Steve. Plus, a pro like yourself with Brutus your assistant near you, you'll be able to make these units work better than new bro. 8^)
Anthony..
I love the ascetic of the white colour especially for my retro gaming setup
I seen these, glad you got em
That outro music.
“Next time on Retro Tech Z!!!....”
Great video once again, I did not know that such a degaussing tool existed. Thx again for the very informative video. And happy for you regarding the great deal you managed to get on these ! A+
Amazing! I love learning about CRT tech!
I purchased a wand which did help somewhat but your degause tool does a better job. I need to keep an eye out for one.

Keep hunting Steve, it’s the thrill of it like Christmas 🎄 in the 80’s.
they look fantastic and backed to life perfectly, am just curious to know these kinds of PVMs have built-in speaker or not 🧐?
Very useful video! Keep up the good work!
Awesome vid and score! Looking forward to seeing you finishing up these monitors with cleaning/calibration etc.
Just picked up a 14L2MD with an original bkm-192x for a steal

An update, I found the exact same coil, shipped it to Japan, turned it on and fixed my monitor in 10 seconds. Can’t believe it, thanks Steve!
Great Video! I would love to find a PVM, those look so nice!

Wow beautiful I want them all!!!
Tx you so much for this tutorials!
Is there a video on doing the displays geometry etc? I believe I found one from your channel but it doesn't explain anything.
Wow I didn't know you can fix burn in like that on crt tvs. Very informative
Thank you for sharing and have a great fall
Thanks
those 14 inch pvms are so nice looking
Super informative video! Thanks!

I'm looking for one for a retro gaming setup that is 100v to 240v for use in Australia
Really wish I could employ your services in New Zealand.
PVM is unbeatable.
great finds!

Not a bad deal but scary shippin method! Also good job buying a lawn mower that matches you Geo cab! 😜
wish I could get one of those degauss rings.

I've been following your channel for some time, do you think such a pvm would support a trip to Brazil? i'm thinking about buying one on ebay.
Maybe.. If your willing to pay to have it packed and possibly crated. I wouldn't trust the seller to pack it well enough.
you just had to perfectly pronouce the spell during the degaussing ;)
If you could pick one CRT to own for the rest of your life and it can't be a PVM what would it be?
This guy is such a top

You ever sell any of these PVMs you have?
question

any fix to this?
Anyway I can purchase one from you?
can i buy one?

What do you think of degaussing wands ?
They are great if you need them. They fixed these 2 up pretty good
@@RetroTechUSA sorry I meant the rings VS sticks form.
Partial eBay shipping disaster?
too bad they dont ship to canada
Embarassing packing job on the top and bottom of that first TV for something that heavy duty
