Well I would love one of these, and a Rhodes, and maybe a Valente and the Vintage vibe clav too, kerching! - I love that they exist again. Rhodes branded hardware is back too. However the Rhodes sound really mainly lives on in physical modelling software and sample instruments. That's where 99.9% of players will experience the Rhodes sounds at their fingertips. More people than ever can play these lovely sounds. Of course here it's completely real. Real tines the whole shebang!
Wow, the dynamics of it is something else. It's got just the tiny bit of distortion when you play harder. Just makes the note more saturated and rich. And it goes soft and pliable. I love it so much.
I’ve played one of these at the shop for a few hours with the VVC and I just can’t imagine a better electric piano. I’ve owned a lot of Rhodes (currently own a 1971 and a 1975), and it’s on a whole other planet.
Wish I could share this feeling inside. You probably remember it, but it's that feeling of satisfaction, joy... when two things come together so well. From the outside, it looks and sounds like the absolutely perfect match between artist and instrument. Your talent with the tools under your fingers, is something not everyone gets to experience, and it's got your *&$kin' name on it. Congrats to you brotha. New fan, and look forward to doin' some catchin' up. Thanks for sharing.
The voicing switch is revolutionary, i would not even consider buying any other rhodes alternatives to be completely honest, the built in effects in the rhodes MK8 aren't that important. I would rather have a strymon/empress FX pedalboard for that kind of money
Man, I miss my old stage mark EP 73. Unfortunately, my son gave it away after I alow him to use it for his friend studio. Never again will I give him instruments to have.
Fantastic.... as much as I'd love to have one of these babies, it would require selling... (looks around) looks like... everything I own! Back to keyscape it is!
I thin k some people don't really grasp the difference in the feel of using somthing different than an basic keyboard. Like I have such a hard time to explain to people, even to ones who dable in playing instruments, why I much prefer listening to electric pianos and analog synthesizers over a normal as keyboard. Since the keyboard could technically reproduce all those sounds.
Sounds fantastic! The guys at Vintage Vibe from Rockaway NJ have done a fantastic job reinventing the tine piano. There's a company across the pond who seem to think they are the be all and end all of the electric tine piano because they own the name. The Vintage Vibe is lighter, sounds better, has better features including the new variable voice control. For my money, the MK8 is not even close to Vintage Vibe but it is more expensive when you consider you can buy a basic 64 key VV for 2/3 the price.
Looked at the Vintage Vibe link. I love how this model captures the Rhodes sound but seems to have more of the Wurly 200a footprint and initial appearance. OK... we want details! Video please! How did this whole thing come about. What kind of input did you have on the design and features? Are there any features they left out that you wanted? Does this have midi?
It's a completely different experience than playing a Nord or a sampled instrument. This is the real thing. Rolls Royce of modern electric pianos. The feel, the sound, the look...it's all there.
@@j3po784 I can get some pretty good tones out of Lounge Lizard, especially with a nice amp like Black Rooster's Omnitec, and some of the Kush stuff, as well as Plugin Alliance analog saturators, comps etc, but this is the real thing.. Though I can get close in a mix situation, the differences are still evident and I think there's quite a way to go. Although with ITB I can layer a Rhodes performance done in midi with all sorts fm and physically modelled chime/bell sounds/ tuned perc like hang drums and kalimbas and kind of create mini orchestrations that augment the existing sound in all sorts of ways. Epecially when you split the voicings up and divide them between instruments. So, for me, the difference is similar to a fine exquisitely drawn picture done with a pencil, the Rhodes, and some graphics on a HD monitor with millions of different colours, the sort of stuff I was referring to doing. Equally valid, but different. With Analog synths though... To my ears, the sort of stuff Gmedia, Softube and Uhe have created is virtually indistinguishable from the real thing, for most intents and purposes. Although this is probably because analog synths are considerably simpler in terms of the tones and colors you can get from them when compared to electromechanical and acoustic instruments. Great playing by the way. You should do more stuff like this. Maybe blaze through a few standards . It would be cool to hear your interpretations.
Rhodes has always been a favorite and Vintage Vibe makes some beauties. This also caught my attention many years ago: ua-cam.com/video/hCmqmnsBb3I/v-deo.html
How do you prefer to amplify it live in the studio? I want an electric piano, but sometimes I feel like I need to go all the way to the suitcase amplifier to get the authentic sound. But, $$$…
I prefer to go direct in the studio. I've been on a lot of sessions where we mic the suitcase. 9 times out of 10, we'll end up going with the direct signal, processing from there. Maybe we'll mix in a bit of the console. But it's rare in a studio situation to use the mic'd stereo amp only. Seems like it would be the cooler option, but in practice, most of the time it's not. Live, in a club and concert setting, it's completely different. The suitcase console is everything, it fills the room with a certain magic. Kinda like having a Leslie (although in the studio you better be sure to mic that Leslie and not go direct 🤣)
Rhodes has been popular for decades. Vintage Vibe has been going for a long while now and Rhodes is back in production but in the UK. Also you can get a Wurli type sound from a Valente electric piano.
A beautiful demonstration where creativity, ability, and tone come together. Kudos, Julian!!
🙏
What a glorious sound, no danger of the Rhodes ever becoming extinct!

Beautiful, expressive, classic. Don't have any other words...
I never thought I could taste sound until listening to this. Simply amazing and skilled
Am I the only one who expects to hear the melody from Spain after this! 😊
Bro... Literally moved to tears on this. This is going on repeat as I sleep tonight. BEAUTIFUL
What a beautiful sound both your playing and the Vintage Vibe bringing it to life.
Wow, the dynamics of it is something else. It's got just the tiny bit of distortion when you play harder. Just makes the note more saturated and rich. And it goes soft and pliable. I love it so much.
So lucky to find your soul mate! That keyboard is a fusion fantasy!! Great Playing--!
Fabulous. One of the very best electric piano sounds I've ever heard. (And needless to say, beautiful playing)
Now THAT'S the way to demo this beautiful instrument. Nice job... 👍😎🎹
Congrats on this. It sounds beautiful. And thanks so much for posting everything you do. You’re a great inspiration to me.
Gorgeous tones and playing!
Maaaan oh maaan....you sure can play! I can feel every note...

I want to hear one of these every day
Yeaaaa, beautiful playing as usual!🥹
Now i can't listen the video but i click like ...Always love your progressions, ideas, everything Julian!

Sounds awesome. My Yamaha CP4 breaks through a bit with some EQ and compression.
Love everything about this
God damn what an emotional sound it has 🥰

Masterful as always!
Can I hit the like button a hundred more times? 🔥 This sounds so gorgeous. Beautiful performance!
Awesome! 👏👏👏👏👏
Great ✨🎹

This is really amazing.
Ein Traum!

Wow, that sucks a lot 😢
Wonderful
Man, wishing I still have my EP.
Good job 👍
Amazing 😃👍😃👍.
Love it 🥰
Damn! Your sound so sick ☕️
HERMOSO Hermoso 😍😍
Want. So bad. So so bad. Sounds amazing, man!

I want one bad
👍👍
Sounds amazing. Are the guts on these the same as an older Rhodes ?
The lick at 2:55

Question, I’m wondering if you can use Headphones without having an amp do you automatically have to have an amplifier
👀
Unfortunately my bank wouldn't allow me to take out a loan for this. Totally worth the 6k price tag
Does it sound better then Nord keys to you? For me yes but I do not own any of those instruments.

@@j3po784 Super helpful. Well, just pulled the trigger on a Valente to get into the electric piano space…
Do you need the midi option to go direct in or can you directly plug in from the piano to interface (sorry I’m a noob at this stuff)
I have never heard a Rhodes sound like yours. It's so fat and full, almost to a bell like chorus echo.
Feels like NYC on a cold, misty but sunny morning in the early 1970s. Afros, bell-bottoms, pimps and italian mobsters.
Every rhodes has a dreamy sound🤣
good ones do ;)
Ethereal cereal.
Get a room!!
Ugggggh
shame these have kinda gone out of fashion. i want the rhodes to make a return in modern music

Way too much effect. A real dreamy rhodes sound doesn't need that
