Great video and I loved watching the troubleshooting journey learned a lot! Although I would recommend saving yourself and the customer time in the future with these codes and and tailpipe soot... When the computer throws these codes it's related to the low pressure EGR circuit, you also could easily notice there was soot in the tailpipe. What this means is that the vehicle has a cracked DPF filter. It may also be clogged too, but soot in the tailpipe is a telltale sign that the DPF mesh filter has been cracked and is allowing soot to pass through to the mufflers. Even if you had a clogged DPF, it would not allow soot to pass through into the tailpipe.
This is an extremely common issue with these model years, the DPF is a consumable part that is not meant to last the lifetime of the vehicle, they go for about 100k miles.... and eventually they will crack. They can also crack because of faulty injectors causing too much heat in the system. You could probably make the engine light go away for a while, but eventually it will throw the codes again and it will clog up sooner than later. It's extremely frustrating that the EPA has put so many restrictions on diesels like this....
If you replace the DPF filter make sure you also replace the EGR filter at the same time or clean the EGR filter, that thing is probably clogged up as well, theres also a low pressure egr valve back there that could use a cleaning too. You might be able to use egr cleaner and spray it into the exhaust manifold but usually that doesn't seem to work from what I have seen. This is what I was able to discover through my own research on these jetta TDI EGR systems.
I own a 2013 Jetta TDI and have the same codes. Did you try redlining the vehicle to see if the computer forced the car into limp mode?

@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair No problem, I loved you analytics and logic trying to solve this issue. I honestly learned a lot from your video. But yeah just check the tailpipe when you get a TDI, if it is full of soot the DPF is likely broken. I love these cars but the EPA really screwed us. Annoying repair to do too, but I think its an easy job once you do it once.

As a backyard mechanic with the same situation as far as a high soot load and dpf light on as well as limp mode and chk engine light. I Cleaned the dpf with the same gun to no avail.
But my dpf pressure sensor didn't show a code but was the culprit. The dpf light went out as well as limp mode but my egr o401? Is still there.
I have put 20k miles on the car with the insufficient flow on the egr.
    Runs great at 200k.
I'm leaning towards changing the egr filter now but I'm just guessing without a higher priced scan tool.
Can't see dumping thousands on this thing when the value of the car isn't there.
    Thanks, love your work

Why didn't you activate def regeneration using the Auto scan tool. i know that the scan tool does not allow dpf regeneration when there are trouble codes, but the DTC that you had had to do with brakes. the scan tool does take the def to more than 600 degrees Celsius .

What was the DPF deferential pressure after injecting the cleaning fluid and doing the test drive that brought the soot content down to zero?
You should have taken it on a 30 mile road test driving with mainly low gears.
If the car is not on limp mode with reduced performace(the car can still rev past 3000 revs all the way to red line) then the DPF is still good cause if it is blocked the car will be on restricted performance.
Oh and next time don't drive with one hand and video with the other hand for content, it's very dangerous and not worth it, we your viewers believe you, so just explain your test drive results after.....
    Stay safe bro!!

General you need to get a manometer to read the dpf and stop using that rubbish dpf cleaner and use launch cleaner instead

I would say he must stop working on DPF issues. Even though he uses LAUNCH, will have the same results because he doesn't understand the way DPF system works.

@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair I’ve used this product for years with success but the launch product works ten times better and gets yourself a manometer and a mityvac gauge and learn how to use it correctly.
