- Sea trials of two 58 metre Cape-class Patrol Boats designed and constructed by Austal Australia for the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard - TTS Port of Spain (CG41) and TTS Scarborough (CG42).

You know what I love most about this is the opportunities the maintenance and navigation crews at CG are going to get. They are destined for very high paying job offers worldwide after some years.
On the down side of things though these ships will be dry docked like the others after a few years due to lack of maintenance contracts and parts. Lets see if learning took place after what happened to Air Guard Rotary Unit.

From what I have learned that there are one and perhaps two Austal engineers that are based in Trini, as we speak.....maintenance is high on Dr. Rowley's agenda...the government just acquired the dry dock in Chaguramas, and they are in talks to get Austal to base there maintenance facilities down there on the west coast, it is said that all up the islands and as far as the Bahamas has ferries that will go there to have there ferries maintained, another good source of forex...this government is not doing anything haphazard...hats off to Dr. Rowley and his government for their foresight

That's a good concern that you have raised. I heard the P.M made some mention of plans for ship repair and maintenance, so let's hope that this is put in place.

Look like the PM will have to make some calls again to protect these vessels on their way here because like the Chinese vessel I don't see any armament.
The Vessel can take 2 x .50 calibre machine guns its just not installed yet. The Cape Class are probably the best Patrol Boats in the World
Yea, the Chinese vessel is a real waste, no armament at all.
@@TrinispaceTT They have installed a 20mm gun on the Chinese vessel, looks like one that came from the 30m Austal vessels that's not in used any more, or it could be from older vessels that have been decommission, that may also be the plan to use what they have in stock on these two vessels.
@@josephwebster9546 Oh ok. Although i have research these vessels, the chinese only made them as fisheries protection and not something close to a corvette or OPV that were really design for patrolling. Hence the reason why it doesn't come with any or no armament. They nitpick this vessel without even considering what is required. I'm not surprised that they have to installed a gun manually on it.
@@TheChico868 At the base level, these boats carry 2x50 cal guns. The naval variant carries an additional 30mm cannon.

I see a limit to their capabilities. They're not big enough for choppers. I would have preferred the 3 OPV's but thanks to the unpatriotic UNC who encourage/facilitate corruption and crime we are forced to use these options. Good luck nevertheless to T&T Coast Guard.
Agreed, i missed the OPVs. But these won't be that bad. There's another video promoting the Cape Class as the best military patrol boats in the world.
I will never forgive Kamla for what she did with the OPVs
@@TheChico868 I forgive her long time and thank her, because if we can't upkeep the smaller vessels how then we would upkeep those large vessels, the only one I can't forgive she for is that Chinese vessel.
Thanks to an ungreatful former PM Kamala the 3 OPV which suppose to safegaurd T &T boarders end up in the Brazilian Navy. Now we have 2 Cape-class vessel time to sell or rid that TTS Nelson which is second hand Chinese built and see to replace it with either a Damen Sigma-class or Israeli built Sa'ar 62 or Sa'ar 72 for TTCG. New smaller patrol vessel for Gulf of Paria needed like the Sweden's CB90 or US built Mark IV/V or Israel's Super Dvora III/Shaldag V and UAVs like Israel's Heron or Hermes 900 or Turkey built Bayraktar TB2 to protect and safegaurd T&T.
