    I just picked up a low mileage 81,000 triple blue one several months ago, she's a stunner. Also found a 89 Fleetwood which is my favorite. Yours is beautiful!

      @@dave11686 the blue interior is so 90s! I love it. Id highly recommend Chemical Guys leather cleaner & conditioner for those seats. Add their brush and some walmart micro fibers I bet the seats will look like new!

    That was an absolute steel for $1500!! Not rusted out, body was taken care of, nice and roomy! I would've purchased that in a heartbeat seeing how nice it is. Also I immediately fell in love with the digital dash : )

      @@dave11686 I'm happy to hear you still have it, the sad reality of owning an old vehicle is the breakdowns and repairs that are inevitable, there is really nothing you can do about it, stuff wears out. All in all worth keeping it on the road considering the condition of it and personally I do not buy any vehicles made after 2005 as they are just so boring to me and have shrunken in size. I like my nice big boats on wheels and that is just how I feel about the new vehicles, they aren't my style and I prefer the old stuff. Of course however 95% of the vehicles I see on the road are new ones and are newer than 2005, it almost takes a special type of person to take care of these older 90's cars and maintain them well otherwise (knowing how people are, I've seen it!) people run things into the ground and neglect it until it fails them and they get rid of it. I assume that is why I rarely see any 90s cars on the road now, people just don't want to put any money into them and want the typical new things. Also amazing to think about the msrp someone paid for the vehicle you are driving when it was new!

    after 2004.5 the northstar was fixed mostly. That is where the DTS comes in. Get one, you would love it. Mine is a 2008 with 96k miles. So comfortable and runs so damn smooth you can't even tell its on.

    I love this generation of DeVille... the very last generation of "classic" DeVille before they switched to the newer body style in 2000.

      If you are gentle on the throttle and if you use cruise control on main roads the instantaneous mpg says you get about 20.

    How much does the gas impact your opinion for the car. Thinking about buying one but the internet says it needs premium since these cars don’t have knock sensors.

    • @dave11686
      @dave11686  2 роки тому

      Hi there. Yes it does need premium. You need premium due to the compression ratio. I’m honestly considering getting some thing a little more fuel efficient but still keeping this car for a second car

      The Sock Monkey! Do you think its a good daily? I found one in the Chicagoland area for $2500. Its a 4.9 1994 like yours. My only concern is rust and fuel cost.

    Too old and high maintenance for a daily. Would be a nice weekend cruiser or toy though.
    Cadillac 4.9 requires timely scheduled coolant exchange services and stopleak tablets to keep the engine sealed; best left this service to the GM dealer.
    All those Caddy HT engines including the 4.9 have weak bottom ends so keep up on your oil changes.

    • @dave11686
      @dave11686  3 роки тому +1

      Few points of order: yes, it's older than I ideally would have wanted but when you don't have a lot of money to spend, and everything either is junk that would have cost me way more money in the long run, or it all sells out from underneath you because the market is bonkers, I chose to go with the 4.9 because compared to the 4.6 Northstar that succeeded it, it does have a better track record.
      I've changed the oil a couple of times now, and always conventional oil. I actually plan on taking it to a family friend that owns a garage to have it given a once over. My dad also looked it over when I bought it, he's a mechanic and I trust him as much as I trust God and if he had sensed there was an issue I would not have bought it in the first place.
      I don't take either of my cars(wife's 2012 Lexus CT200h) to dealerships. I've made the mistake of taking my 2002 Kia to a dealership for even an oil change, they find everything they possibly can under the sun to want to charge you for and hand you a list of recommendations. I have a very SHORT list of places I choose to take my car to if I don't do the work myself or have my dad help me out as much as I can.
      With all that out of the way, outside of the issues with the distributor conking out over the winter and needing new tires, it's been a great car. Sorry for practically writing a novel, but I wanted to address all of your points. And yes, i'm aware of the cooling system stuff, I also consulted with friends of mine that had the same engine before I bought it :)
