I have so used the dip it method, never liked the results. Never occurred to me to use shrink wrap because my experiences with plastic tape were Sooo unsuitable. Can't wait to try shrink wrap which looks a much better solution! THANKS

Best tip of the day! My husband and I have our own business, Steve's Marine Service for 35yrs. And we use alot of shrink tube. I've used tape and that stuff you dip tools in for a rubber coating and none of it worked for more than one use. Shrink tube should last alot longer. Brilliant 👏 👏 👏

I tried using plasti-dip for mine. It was a lot of work to build up enough layers so it wouldn't wear off so easily. This looks like it would work much better, and the application is a lot quicker. Have really appreciated your videos so far, thanks for putting them out there.

thanks for that Angie, so many variations on this trick … i’ve not heard of plasti-dip before … interesting product … i’ve occasionally used plastic tube cut from electrical wire coating … all the best … Nick

Plasti-dip is super-toxic, which I didn't realize till I started using it for old metal pliers handles. I love the shrink tube!

    Hiya Nick,
I never thought of this; a book I read when starting suggested filling down the inside corners of all my pliers to a curve to protect whatever I griped with them. It worked, a permanent solution to the problem with no outlay. My favourite type of solution. Cheap.
    Steve.

Me too I polish off any sharp corners from most of my pliers. I made this video after seeing a lot of people using masking tape around their pliers or even dipping them in liquid rubber and allowing to dry. thought I would show this trick just for the hell of it … rarely need to use it but its good to Know … N

Overall, I love the idea of this. And my electronic cords have benefited from me buying a kit of tubes for my pliers. But, I tried this method on my pliers and I have some misses. Not all shapes of pliers work well. I think maybe the tubes I bought only shrink twice their size. I did see rolls of tubing that melt 4 times their size. That might work better on my super tapered pliers.
