Awesome Nick.. Pro tip indeed 👍 😁
hi mark, thanks for the comment … Nick 👍😎👍
I have so used the dip it method, never liked the results. Never occurred to me to use shrink wrap because my experiences with plastic tape were Sooo unsuitable. Can't wait to try shrink wrap which looks a much better solution! THANKS
thanks for the comment steve, I had never seen this stuff before discovering it recently, comes in useful for all sorts … N
Best tip of the day! My husband and I have our own business, Steve's Marine Service for 35yrs. And we use alot of shrink tube. I've used tape and that stuff you dip tools in for a rubber coating and none of it worked for more than one use. Shrink tube should last alot longer. Brilliant 👏 👏 👏
Nice to have access to some of this stuff … marine grade sounds good.
I found a big box in my local discount store, enough to last forever … N
OMG!!!. That is super fantastic!!!. Why had I not thought of that?!?!, all these years of sanding and buffing!. Thank you so so much 🙏🏼🥰😻
thanks for that Consuelo, Super easy quick and effective … definitely saving a lot of cleanup time … 🕰 👍 Nick
I tried using plasti-dip for mine. It was a lot of work to build up enough layers so it wouldn't wear off so easily. This looks like it would work much better, and the application is a lot quicker. Have really appreciated your videos so far, thanks for putting them out there.
thanks for that Angie, so many variations on this trick … i’ve not heard of plasti-dip before … interesting product … i’ve occasionally used plastic tube cut from electrical wire coating … all the best … Nick
Plasti-dip is super-toxic, which I didn't realize till I started using it for old metal pliers handles. I love the shrink tube!
I use both plastidip first then shrinkwrap it doesn't cut away as easy
Thank you for sharing your talent
Hiya Nick,
I never thought of this; a book I read when starting suggested filling down the inside corners of all my pliers to a curve to protect whatever I griped with them. It worked, a permanent solution to the problem with no outlay. My favourite type of solution. Cheap.
Steve.
Me too I polish off any sharp corners from most of my pliers. I made this video after seeing a lot of people using masking tape around their pliers or even dipping them in liquid rubber and allowing to dry. thought I would show this trick just for the hell of it … rarely need to use it but its good to Know … N
@@Nickscreativestuff is useful, though. I would definitely do the file version on tweezers, and heat shrink burns. Ask me how I know, hehehe
you can get lovely burns from plastic the way it sticks to skin … N
@@Nickscreativestuff don't remind me...
Awesome idea! I will look for those tubes because most times i squeeze too hard and mark them. I even broke a crimp plyer. 😁
thanks Pie, Love finding these gems that cross genres … from electricians to jewellers … cheers … Nick
Always good to see another tip. I have used electrical tape before but this looks like a better idea. Cheers
hi Jim, me too until I saw this stuff in Lidl’s … cheers … Nick
I love this idea, I used oxygen tubing, but I have a shrink wrap gun and shrink wrap tubes too. Thank you for the idea. Genius.
i’m sure I will not have been the first to do this, but it was new to me after seeing a cheap box of shrink wrap tube in a local discount store (Lidl’s) no more messy sticky tape residue to clean up … N
@@Nickscreativestuff new to me and I shared your video because it was a great help to me.
Thanks Miss Reynolds, nice to hear you shared my simple video … cheers … Nick
wow.... why I never thought about it. you're amazing. thanks for sharing
thanks Kekokcraft, always good to share a hot tip … cheers … Nick
That beats masking tape by far! Genius.
cheers Monty, no more mess with masking tape monotony … marvellous … N
@@Nickscreativestuff Brilliant brains bro! your Merican mate, Monty
cheers mate merican Monty … N 👍😎👍
What a hack! Cool man.
Thanks TwoKois, I was surprised to discover this stuff … N
Overall, I love the idea of this. And my electronic cords have benefited from me buying a kit of tubes for my pliers. But, I tried this method on my pliers and I have some misses. Not all shapes of pliers work well. I think maybe the tubes I bought only shrink twice their size. I did see rolls of tubing that melt 4 times their size. That might work better on my super tapered pliers.
thanks for your comment Maya, i’ve heard they come in different shrink rates, this was a cheap box from a local High Street store lidl‘s. I tried it one time instead of reaching for the masking tape … A lot less of a sticky mess … cheers … Nick
Thank You for the video
Cheers PAC AC, all the best … N
I appreciate you
Thank you for sharing
thanks for your comment JC … N
very cool tip!!!!
Glad you think so … cheers … Nick
This is genius! I too have been using plasti dip but it's messy & takes time to dry. Thanks for sharing!
thanks txgrandma, I was glad to discover this stuff … no more messy sticky tape … had to share this so quick and easy … N
Cool! :)
Thanks Seja … N
Lidl Brand if im not mistaken. Sorry I haven't watched the whole video yet, so you probably mention that later. Good stuff, like Aldi.Thank You Nick.
more Lidl’s delights a big box for very little money … N
This one looks A+. Where do you pick up the product? Hardware store?
Hi Christine, I found this box full of “heat shrink tube” cheap in Lidl‘s … N
Thank you for the tip. Do you use the 2:1 or 3:1 shrinkage or does it really matter? Thanks, again!
thanks for your comment Janice, i’ve only just discovered this stuff and didn’t know it came in different shrink rates. Comes in useful for all sorts and can be layered for different thicknesses I assume … cheers … Nick
That is a great idea. Thanks. Now I am wrapping scotch around it. But it goes away quick and it is sticky. Now that I think of it... can't you use plastic bottles and wrap iet around? I mean it should shrink too. Think I am going to play with the idea... guess it's worth a try... I let you know ow rge results... ☺️
hi Malika thanks for the suggestion, i’m sure that could work well. i’ve seen recently people are up cycling plastic bottles to use for 3-D printing … N
Clever idea fast and easy, marring jump rings is so counterproductive and casts a doubt of craftsmanship of the jeweler 😢
thanks Hector, A bit of a fun vid … I did edit and exaggerate the marring to some degree for the sake of explanation. The pliers I use aren’t really that bad … cheers … Nick
