errr is it me or what.. explains all about i stop and how the batteries work but doesn't actually tell you how to diy fix as the video title says, there's 15 minutes of my life i wont get back.
Thanks for this video, My I-Stop light flashed and looked in the service book where it said to contact service, no I thought and searched on UA-cam. My problem was that I opened the hood and closed it, and the problem was solved.
Had the i-eloop yellow warning light. Disconnect both battery terminals and reconnected after 10 mins. problem solved. i-stop disabling for 2, 3, 6, & CX-3. Removed cover from the bonnet (hood) catch assembly. It just pulls out. There is a wire and mechanical switch held in place with a screw on the passenger side of the catch. Unscrew the screw - you will need an offset phillips or grips. Put the switch to one side. Done.
I had the same problem e.g. getting an amber eloop warning light and I-stop. I too disconnected the system in my Mazda 2 which worked but today the amber lights came back which is weird as it’s disconnected from the bonnet latch method mentioned. Any suggestions?
This was very helpful...my istop light flashes but not always...it's either working or it flashes with the triangle alarm light with the exclamation on...I usually just turn it off myself each time I start the engine...so my question is if it's intermittent and not always flashing does that mean it's just a computer issue that can be fixed by my mechanic?
Mazda service centre check for me said that need to replace capacitor. Mine is mazda 3 year2016. So far already one year i did not manage to change.still have same problem with you all.
Great video Gerard; very informative and easy to follow. When you said "...re-instal the battery and re-register again.." it can be a bit tricky for me to do all that correctly in my mazda cx-5 2015. Is there any website that can show the procedures to reset the car at a battery change or re-install? Also how is the battery registration done? Thanks hips Gerry
A correct replacement battery failed to fix the flashing amber button and system failure while driving my 2014 Mazda2. The system was reprogrammed at the time of battery replacement. Unfortunately the problem returned almost immediately. When I returned to the mechanic we discovered the new battery had lost some power, in the time driving 1km home. Other possible causes of this charge loss, including the air con compressor and/or the alternator, were discussed. I could see a huge bill for investigation and parts ahead so made the decision to trade the car in (at huge loss). I would be keen to hear from any other Mazda owners re their experience with iStop failure. Thankyou for this very helpful presentation 🇦🇺
Why did you bother at all? Many people don't like that system. Just drive without it. Not an issue. I have the same problem, replaced the battery and it keeps blinking yellow. I say fk it. Next time when I'll be in Mazda I'll let them check. If they want huge money for it I'll just leave it as is.
Hi Gerald! the istop of my mazda cx3 2015 started behaving strangely. Sometimes can see the green lights sometimes it does not appear. Do you think it can also be a batery problem?
Brilliant video, Everything was on point clear and informative. No fussing about likes and subscriptions. Keep it up sir, Two years and this video is still effective. Appreciate the information. Kind Regards.
I have a 2013 UK Mazda CX-5 manual. Keyless system has stopped working, press stop button engine will start but not stop (have to stall it) but instruments and accessories turn off. Cannot open boot iStop stopped working about a year ago. Every imaginable warning light and message is displayed. Main agent have performed all service work but are baffled and having problems. Say they haven’t seen such a combination of error codes. Mazda themselves also appear to be baffled. Might iStop be causing this?
Hey Gerard, my Mazda 6 2.2 DTT was fitted with an AGM battery by roadside assistance and the car started to lose power after 2/3 weeks, and the battery management system (BMS) light went on. I got them to replace with an EFB battery (per various manufacturers' recommendation) and reset, BMS light went off, but there is an error code of U3004 (16) accessory power relay, can this be solved by some kind of software reset? Must it be done at the dealer?
Hi Gerard Burke, I own a 2012 MAzda Biante with this feature. My Biante actually carries 2 batteries. 1 is a smaller EFB N55 Panasonic and the other a larger standard battery 26B17L batteries. Do you know of the reset procedure for this vehicle? Thanks
Thanks for the info. Now plz tell us how do we rip iStop out of the car permanently? Don't want it and don't want to be told I have to have it and need to do stupid hacks.
I agree. Another thing to go wrong, which indeed mine did. However…if you believe in the climate science findings, as I do, then we each have a moral imperative to reduce our individual carbon footprint. No more classic cars. Life just gets duller 🙄
First thing you MUST do is to DISCONNECT the stupid i-stop which is draining your battery and destroying the starter motor on your vehicle, not to mention engine and the gearbox!!!!!!!
Thanks very much, was having trouble registering after battery change. Watched video around the inputs and I had the bonnet open. Closed that input and it worked straight away!
If the Start/Stop button is flashing constantly, what might be the problem. I had not used the car for 1 month since yesterday. When I use the car, the IStop did not have the amber flash on the first time, but it started to flash on the second time after I turned off the car together with a amber triangle with an exclamation mark sign constantly on. Is it also the battery problem? Many thanks in advance for your help.
It might be a battery problem based on what he said in the video. It seems that because the vehicle wasn't used for a month, the battery could have drained a bit, forcing it to disable the ISTOP feature. Check out what he said at 4:01 - 4:30. Also, notice at 1:18, the dashboard is showing an i-stop failure, which is indicated by the blinking "i stop" symbol plus there is the triangle with the exclamation mark. This symbol means some system has malfunctioned (according to the CX 3 manual). If you browse to Warnings in your vehicle Apps, it should tell you which system has failed. It may possibly be the Battery Management System.
Hi i have recently purchased a mazda 3 sport 2015 the i stop is green when it comes on sometimes short time then it turns it self off i have not used pedals, or it dose not cime on at all? Another question is it normal for the air condition light to be on permanently, as i cannot turn it off, meaning its on constantly, so i should not open the window?
thank you for this video Gerard very informative. i had a i eloop inspection required warning which came up today in my 2015 mazda 6. i placed a regular battery in the vehicle (thinking it will be okay and will cost me less) and used it for more than a year. it seems that ive always been having hard starts in the morning and the istop function only lasts 30 seconds per stop. i went to the dealership and they will diagnose the ieloop next week. he said the problem is either the battery which i think it is or the capacitor which costs alot of money and hoping its not the case. the mechanic said it is okay not to have the capacitor fixed but the istop function will be gone (i dont mind because istop for me is pretty useless anyways.. i mean it does save a bit of fuel but you also pay more for the battery replacement..) please let me know if the mechanic is correct about not having to replace the capacitor. thank you and i liked and subscribed to your channel. thanks! from the philippines. :)

When I reset the I Stop bottor and i turn off and turn on the car again, the both alert dissapear. Could It be the batery? Or maybe something about the braking system?. I m very worried about that. Im from dominican republic, and i dont know if there any expert Mazda person here. Could you please help me or give me an advise

Very informative. BUT the scan tool PID for the battery won't move past 50-51% therefor no iStop ... How can you charge the battery and get PCM to recognise the SOC???

1 piston is stopped during the compression stage, with air and fuel charged and ready to go, spark sets the engine in motion. It doesn't sue the starter motor. There is a noticeable difference between starting the car, and istop firing up the engine.

I found a hack on UA-cam to disable, and seems to be working a treat! There’s a cable on the bonnet latch that you disconnect, and the istop thinks the bonnet is open and therefore won’t turn off, It took 5 minutes!
