I love watching your videos, and this is the best that I learned from all the tests from other videos thanks for sharing and showing me more

Thank you for good words. I just wanted to show the difference between cooking equipment fuel types on sample of Trangia. So the people who thinking which equipment to buy could have an idea. I personally like gasoline. But disadvantage of it for indoor use preferable an alcohol priming.

Thanks for the great overview of the 25 & 27 systems! Fantastic and thorough demonstration. I have the 25 Duossal kit with the spirit and gas burners. Though love them both, I use the spirit burner 95% of the time. I don't mind it taking longer to cook food or boil water - for me, the silence and ability to hear Nature far outway the cons of its slower speed. Hard to beat the versatility of any Trangia kit. Thanks again for your awesome video. Cheers

Great to hear such a nice comment. We all love Trangias not depending which are they and when those were produced all are great! Its like a legend and some kind of style to enjoy the Nature. Thank You!

Surely those times would have be quicker if the kettle was used or even the fry pan used as a lid

Sure it is. I will load a video about that soon.

I was surprised at the slow time for the alcohol burner. Perhaps burner would have primed/bloomed sooner if allowed to burn a minute without a pot of cold water over it. I could not see how long the bloom was delayed. My experience has been bloom in 30 seconds to 1:30 without a pot depending on conditions. The potless time would have to be included of course. Thanks for you time and effort to share this.

Thanks for a reasonable comment. I was surprised myself with such result. Agree with you - part of the reason can be that pot was put on top of the burner to quick. My guess was also that before making a video I did couple of experiments with adding according Trangia recommendations some percentage of water to avoid soothing of the sauce pans. Most probably that diluted alcohol has less power. Thats resulted in longer boiling time. In my video about Military Trangia I used not diluted alcohol and boiling time there much better and a close to 14 min. Combination of both circumstances led to a prolonged time of boiling.

@@foxdogcattop I put 0ne teaspoon of water to full of Methylated spirits. Use pan with lid on 27 and consistently boils 1L at ten min. Cheers Steve from Aus.

Mine 25 takes 12:30 to boil 1 liter of 13`C water (with 4% added water in the spirits)
The gas stove in the Trangia takes 3 min. to boil, and 15 grams of gas.

Yes you right times vary from test to test. Water in the beginning has different temperatures from place to place and surrounding temperature also changes time a lot. Will not mention the windy weather. Then it is something... Thanks for your comment. We are all in process of thinking and testing!

Weight of ethanol is about 0.79 kg/l, so that makes 11 boilings with 500 ml bottle.
Similarly I use 0.75 kg/l weight for gasoline, which makes it 15 boilings.

Gas burner = No soot. Short boiltime. Not so heavvy with fuel.
Alcohol burner (with 4% added water in fuel) = Soot. Long boiltime Heavvy with fuel
Gasolin = Soot soot and soot. Medium boiltime. Heavvy with fuel

Gasolin may be can be different in quality. If to use pure without additions gasoline (ecological) then no problem with soot at all. May be can happen a bit when priming. If outdoors it is no problem at all. If at a hotel room then better to prime it in a bathroom or use alcohol for priming. For me works well many years. I use for cooking 90% of time gasoline 9% gas. and 1% alcohol.

I don't have any soot issues burning white gasoline/Coleman fuel or unleaded auto fuel 87 or 85 octane in the US. I preheat with alcohol. A lot of people just don't wait for the stove to warm up or try to skip the prime, or place the pot during the prime. Placing the pot during the prime is ok. You conserve fuel but you will get soot. If you prime with the fuels mentioned earlier, though, you will get soot if you place you pot during the prime. Blue flame, no soot. Yellow flames, soot.
