I'm a Road King guy, it's my favorite Harley, so I definitely like the Highway King. And if I get to the point where I can't manage two wheels, I would rather have a bike with a sidecar than a trike. In my opinion they look cooler.

I bought an orange one I'm 5'10" with a 30" in seam and I'm flat footed on it. You can get a standard seat for them. I put Ledgend shocks on mine and with the seat and shocks it rides great.
I just bought the Magenta Highway King from Yuba City HD in California and will definitely be looking into the side car. Thank you so much for your help.

I really like the Highway King and wished that Harley-Davidson would at least complete the icon bikes with the full bells and whistles.
Example:
They should have added the lower front forks in Chrome and other small accessories shifter linkage ect.
I have no interest in the new stuff but I agree with you 100%. The Highway King is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!
I think it is cool that there is a side car for the Highway King. I am not a fan of sidecars but I hope to see one on the road one day.

I love it! Would buy one tomorrow if they weren't so pricey. I'm thinking of getting one for my '12 RK. I think it would look great and be lots of fun to give people rides in.
Been riding harleys since 1956. I am now 85 years old. I bought a sidecar rig fm heart of dix8e in pelham al. Liked it a lot but traded it in on a street glide. Motorvation put a sidecar (spyder) on it. Its n9w a 103 ci and runs great. Ive riden it to sturgis severap times and pretty much all over the south texas to florida. I like the looks of this. rig and ill look into it. I want a sidecar with the capabilty of a rain top. The one i had in germany had one and it made all the difference.
I rode a sidecar rig when my son was young. It's a lot of fun and gets attention. Sidecar rigs are much better than trikes. You can ride 3 on a Sidecar rig and you can easily change it back to a regular bike.
Hey Man Mountain Mike, I am a RK guy. I ride a RK. I sport a batwing faring on it and looks like a Street Glide but it’s a RK. I love the RK because you can do so much with it. Adding a sidecar is now another option.
I agree with you that the paint looks great. It is definitely a option to consider if you are interested in a Triglide. I hope HD brings back the RK standard. I also think you would need the reverse option to get this rig backed up in a tight spot on bike night.
I expect the RK Standard to come back with a 114 now, I would think it will be back in 2024.
I am glad I clicked on your video, 'cause I'm getting a BMW R18 Roctane and will install a sidecar on it, instead of an expensive British one I'd rather do a Champion they are next door basically, here in Southern California about 19 miles from where I live.That will save me thousands of dollars and headaches with an import sidecar.that sidecar on the Highway King looks awesome!

I'm not a sidecar person but it is a cool idea for the people that are.
I knew a couple that rode motorcycles. And they adopted four siblings. The wife got her endorsement and they got two bikes with sidecars they all 6 could go ride.
I thought that was cool.

That was my gripe too - seat height. I did sit on a used revival a week ago and the previous owner put on a regular seat and it was perfect!

Love it. My 2019 Electro Glyde limited plus a custom sidecar is now around $50k in cost to me. So. It adds up fast.

I love my Highway King. I ordered it in July and took delivery in October. I'm seriously considering a sidecar. Its $32,000.00 for the Electra glide Over $50,000.00 with the sidecar.
That is one of the most beautiful bikes I ever saw.
Regardless of price, I think it’s cool as hell.

The best thing about a sidecar verses a trike is you can remove it when you feel like scraping the pegs. BEST of both worlds.
Hey Mike, at the beginning of our road trip, ran into a feller at the lake that had a army green soft tail with a matching side car. I think he said he got it from WA area. It was well built and cool as hell. I could see one of those attached to my Fat Boy. Cheers from CA….
I love the color matched windshield. Wish I could've afforded one of those Electra Glides last year in Magenta 😂 (not complaining about the price tho I couldn't afford a used bicycle atm lol)

I saw a couple of these bikes at Frontier Harley Davidson in Lincoln, NE. I really liked the orange one. I did not like the magenta.

@@RidingintheOzarks Color is really a matter of personal choice. I have seen a new Road Glide in Atlas Silver netallic. I relly like that color. Especially with the blacked out option.
Picking up my Highway King tomorrow. I’m short and a little concerned about the seat height. I like the idea of a sidecar because I want to ride as long as I can in life. This may just be the ticket for me. Thanks for sharing!

I had a 46 knuckle with a 34 VL sidecar, factory 3 speed with reverse. It was fun but I prefer two wheels. Plus I sold it for a nice profit.

That "68 style seat" is actually a restyled Police seat. I had one similar to that on my 2018 FLHTP.
I was expecting $9,999 as its basically something made to order as Harley obviously would not order more than a small number as the number of Highway Kings is already limited. Sidecars are interesting but I tried a Ural many years ago and I just could not feel comfortable and I actually had more issues turning in the direction of the side car.
I am curious what additional brake mechanism is built in, specifically with parking it.
So the big question is, how much does it cost to attach a Champion side car to any existing Road King? Did Harley make changes to the frame of the Highway King to make it easier?
These sidecars are not being sold by HDMC, they have obviously worked with Champion for the paint matching but my understanding is the dealers had to order these months before the highway king release from Champion. Can you imagine ordering something like this sight unseen for a bike you really don't know what it is...

If you're referring to the engine shut-off if the bike is dropped/ sensed due to lean angle being affected with sidecar - Champion has a sensor that prevents the bike from shutting down due to incorrect feedback. Champion site has better description than I just gave.😕
Bought the Hi-Fi Orange @ my local dealer. Found the Hi-Fi Magenta @ a dealer about 150 miles away, bought that one for the wife. Found out about the sidecar, ordered that in Hi-Fi Magenta for the wife cause she wanted a trike. Sidecar should be @ my local dealer end of July. Ordered matching helmets from Super Seerer.

@@RidingintheOzarks the bikes 29000 ea., the sidecar estimate right now is 20,000 to 21,000 I'm in Virginia so some of the differences could be that, shipping, dealer mark up. Dealer is going to do the installation.
@@RidingintheOzarks forgot to say thanks, the initial tip on the sidecar came from you, dealers did not know anything about a sidecar. Was told by my local dealer that if they knew at the time the bike was purchased the sidecar could have been financed with the bike. Had to do separate financing because dealers just didn't know about the sidecar option. Thanks again!

I have rode both but prefer Harley but Indian might have superior stock suspension. I suggest you demo ride both…

Thanks for the update on the pricing Mike, that's steep, but you are right about being in tri glide money, as someone who owns a triglide and an electraglide, (both bought used.. crazy not stupid) ive ridden a Ural and ill take the triglide over the side car any day, the trike is just far more easier to ride. its like riding a quad, where as the side car is a completely different animal. Now from a cool factor, the side car all the way ,and your right about pictures vs in person, the Highway king is drop dead gorgeous, i can only imagine it with the side car attached, i guess its all going to depend on what your using it for, short rides.. youll never go anywhere because youll be stopped all the time to answer questions as its a head turner, .. long haul touring.. ill take the Triglide, storage, nav, cruise control, its just better set up for long distance touring. I wonder If the tub is metal or fiberglass. I am guessing fiberglass. I've had a couple of Urals with a side car (metal tub) over the years. A bike with a sidecar is a whole different animal than two wheels, there's a learning curve with the different physics involved. Also to really work correctly the rake angle of the front forks needs to be steeper with the side car attached. You remove a side car from a bike that has the forks set up right it will be pretty squirrely. I understand that up until the late 50's Harley made forks that were adjustable in case you wanted to attached a side car or remove it. I wonder if they've done this kind of engineering.
Harley sold a reverse kit when they still sold sidecars.

The side car is around $18,700 with out instalitionthats with reverse the bike is not $27,000 its $27,000 then $1000 surcharge $850 for rdrs shipping and setup a honest delershio the bike is $29,300 plus tax and tags but most delerships are charging a minumin of $2000 over and it goes up from there champion has bikes with side cars on them retail there $49.450 a littld more then the 42 your quotting

Besides HD making 20% on a bike, imagine how much the dealers make since buyers are funding these new mega Disneyland dealerships. My local mom and pop dealer got shut down a few years ago over HD's extravagant demands, so I'm out. Moved on to a DCT Wing, and I ride it more than I ever rode my 20 years of Harleys.
@@markman7 A lot of these people don't realize at the value of the bike doesn't depreciate down from what your pay, it depreciates down from the MSRP.
As soon as they buy one of these marked up bikes you are way down in the hole, even worse if they financed it. I had other bikes before I had Harley's so I have no problem riding something else if Harley continues this stupidity.
