I'm so stoked to be back on the stick, missed this series so much!
Yessssss fight sim!
I'm a big fan
Glad it's back too!
Please continue it
Yessir flight sim is back
MIL, or Military Power, is 100% throttle but without afterburners. Basically when you hit the carrier deck you want to jam the throttle to 100% because if you miss a wire, you want to be at full power to take off at the other end of the deck.
@@shyzardar they mostly use afterburner when the f14b was in service, probably because that thing was much heavier than the hornet and probably doesnt handle slower speeds as well either
@@shyzardar that’s actually not true, pilot’s have night vision goggles when they fly at night. Aircrew will use afterburner on the CATs (catapult’s) if they have multiple drop tanks attached to ensure appropriate airspeed once they clear the carrier.
70%
@@james.w2564 They don't use afterburner on the F14b. You can't use it on the ship or on the runway.. The A variant (the one with compressor stalls used AB because of its low weight to thrust ratio)... every aircraft uses afterburner on cat launches except the F-14B-D
I figured that out watching the video and came here to comment this before I saw your comment
Top Gun: Maverick was an absolute masterpiece. I’m definitely seeing it again and again and again.
no it wasnt....
@@LilHarvey tf yes it was☠️ I wouldn’t be surprised if you’d think avengers endgame is the greatest film of all time lmao
@@VitoScaletta1951 legit top gun maverick is better than a lot of marvel movies imo
@@VitoScaletta1951 yea he probably watches g*y marvel movies like a tween fanboy. This movie was top tier
I watched it twice in the cinema in one week😂
Pro tip for landing on a carrier - use your throttle for altitude and your stick for speed, feels unnatural but it's about mainting your angle of attack. The reason you stalled out on the first attempt is because you used your stick and yanked back on it to try gain altitude but you instead killed all of your speed
Throttle for altitude and pitch for speed is really piloting 101. Doesn't have a thing to do with AoA though.
pro tip is use your trim to land it like you're supposed to.
@@zhaohan_dong well, you trim for on-speed AoA and use "piloting 101" - the FCS will do the rest and keep the VV in the E-bracket.
@@almightyIrie Maybe civilian flying is different, but I do remember instructors asking "pitch for airspeed" then trim it off (no AoA indicator onboard anyways), this include ex-USAF and Army pilots.
This is what that fella (Rod or Ron Marchado?) from FSX taught us all so many years ago. Once you figure out how to do that, it makes landing MUCH easier.
No, the reason you want the power set to MIL power (full power without afterburner) upon landing is in case you don't hook and have to go around.
It’s a video game dude
@@JbBackFeeble It's a Flight SIMULATOR!
@@JbBackFeeble It's actually real life bud. I know because I was an ABE on the Truman. Worked on the catapults and arresting gear. Pilots have to hit full power upon landing in case they miss the arresting cable or the cable snaps.
@@k20z3keith7 you wore the greens?
When you catch the wire you supposed to go to full throttle so you can do a go around if needed.
The MIL power setting is max power/full throttle without afterburner. Excited to see this series back, keep it up!
Haha thank you! Someone who probably plays dcs
Back stronger than ever such a good series
Funny how he succeeds when he goes with instincts. Just like Maverick said, don’t think, just do.
@@CPLWeeks Someone told me not to take advice from YT so, naaaaah.
And most REAL navy pilots on UA-cam have Saud that the line, "don't think, just do" is so damn retarded lol.
Use the force luke
@@suningchen exactly lol
especially a guy who doesn’t know throttle settings, controlled approach and that the optimal approach is called a gildeslope….
The reason you need to speed up when you land on the carrier is if something goes wrong you still have enough speed to get off the carrier
This makes a lot of sense!
I also realized after the video that "MIL Speed" is full power (but no afterburner). Thought it was half power 😭
@@TmarTn2 Hey man you didn't eat the back of the boat. That's all gravy to me!
@@trottheblackdog ...well, his first pass, he was definitely dodging the screws on his way down
Isn't it basically what Maverick did at the beginning of Top Gun, when he landed, heard Cougar was in trouble, and took off again to go help him?
need to speed ? more like need for speed lol
There have been Aircraft Carrier mods on FS since at least 2004! Have you just accomplished a feat my boy! and you filmed it! Bravo.
I’ve missed this game for so long now I am so happy it’s back!!
we needed this series again, one of his best series's he's done, along with house flipper
No
bruh not at all
house flipper is not great
@@chasefullmer4884 thats your opinion, Tmartn seems to agree with me
@@chasefullmer4884 yea it is
Little bit of trivia: The reason naval pilots set power to MIL upon touchdown, is in case they fail to catch a cable, they can quickly regain speed to get back up in the air
Also pilots usually aim for the second cable
Third not second ;-;
@@huey9213 Whoops my mistake. I knew it was either the second or third cable but I guess I picked wrong
The entire time I watch Top Gun all I could focus on was Rooster. The finest man I've ever seen lol
Great video Trev! Love this series! In training my instructor taught me this saying “pitch for airspeed and power for altitude” maybe this can help you in future landings 👍🏽
Simply ignore everything before 14:40 if you’re really only looking for the air craft carrier landing
The way he got hyped after landing first person 😂
Anyone gonna comment how he looks like bob😂
No freaking way…you’re right!
True😂
What if he is?
For the Precision Multiplier, you need to catch wire 3 for the highest multiplier.
depends on the carrier if it is a 3 wire carrier it's the 2 wire if it's a 4 wire then yes 3 wire and in this case it is a 4 wire carrier.
I find it amazing that a flight addict doesn't know they go full power on landing surely you've heard and seen loads of carrier landings?
Yes your back on Microsoft simulator I love these kinds of videos keep it up
Whats up guys its Tmartn here oh man after so many years its revitalization and reminds me so much emotions ❤️🙏🏼
This is a walk in the park compared to landing on the Aircraft Carrier in the NES version of Top Gun...lol give that one a shot!
UP! UP! DOWN! DOWN!
Speed Up! Speed Down!
Man I miss this series so much. Glad you’re doing them again.
15:00 was the most realistic top gun moment
repeating the series 1 year later and im loving it
Would love to see some modded planes. The community has created some really good ones. Good to see you back playing 👍
Dude yes!!!! These videos were how I got on the TmarTn train!
To get a perfect landing score (which = good) you must catch wire number three. When your gear hits the deck you must apply full throttle in case you bolter.
Man I've missed Tmartn Airlines, this is by far one of my favourite series on UA-cam!
Just watched the new top gun film and it was great, love the videos 👍
thank god you brought this series back
So happy to see you back love this series already have been through this mission😁
my grandma lives in san diego and while i was watching top gun maverick in the movie theater dad told me "they filmed the movie 5 miles away from you're grandma" i was like "cool' top gun and top gun maverick is a very very good movie.
i hope you keep doing way more flight sim videos because these are my favs would even like to see u just do normal flights to some cool parts of the world even if its not dlc vids
15:02 brings fond memories of the same moment in the 8-bit Top Gun game on the Nintendo Entertainment System
Love you keep putting great content 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
You’ve been catching wire 1, catch wire 3 for the best score. I’d like to see you try again!
I remember doing this over 20 years ago in Combat Flight Simulator, under 100% simulation it was pretty hard also with WW2 planes.
My dad flew Hellcats in the Navy during WWII. Landed on aircraft carriers all the time. Imagine finding a floating matchbox on the sea and landing on it.
My father respected the Navy pilots who had to land on an aircraft carrier, he was an Air Force pilot.
use the throttle to adjust your high or low on the flols. when you use the stick it changes your aoa reading. you are suppose to go full afterburn when you hit the deck per NATOPs manual so if you don't catch a wire you can bolter and go around again.
How to become popular on UA-cam: Scream at every single thing in the game and make it seem big
Love the videos keep up the great work
I love you keep up the great content
These were my favorite videos by you, thank you for coming back to it, hope you do more! like try to run into the ISS lol.
throttle for altitude, pitch for speed when landing with flaps.
Hi Trevor Love the vids
yurrrr first
First time a was surprised by the blue angels fly over out beach on the 4th of July I jumped off my blanket with one arm and screaming yeeeaaahhhhhh!!! If you’ve never experienced it your missing it … semper fi!!! 👍🏼😉❤️🇺🇸
Glad to have you back on the series!!
"I wanna catch wire 1"
Every naval fighter pilot ever: What did he say..?
So glad this is back
This series is always amazing
playing a Microsoft game with a PlayStation controller. legend.
Well done! Good analysis... "this might be tougher than we thought..."
Danger Zone has been stuck in my head for the past week
Bro your voice is like hangman in top gun and you also look like hangman
hey everyone!
to score A.
you need to catch wire3# not 1#(eazyier in 1st view to spot and catch it)
stay on 200 knots (from when the guiding ball indicator shows - but just keep it from the beginig
and try to stay with the right altitude with the guide much as you can
and some patience 2 or 3 tries should do it.
p.s
love your videos, great vibe!
keep stream like it pure fun!
Brooo all the content is poppin but this right here was major!!! I was thinking of re-downloading it,, keep killing it
Top Gun was amazing and your content is to keep it up
Wish you could have finished your thoughts at the 1:16 mark of the video, always like commentary! Haven't seen the second one yet as I had low expectations, but glad this sequel did great for the franchise.
Was thinking the same, about finishing his sentence/thoughts!🤣
@@Dexsasaurus right? He sounded like he was leading into something interesting and then it just got interrupted by the game.
No this is not insane the DCS is INSANE :D:D
I feel the need, the need for speed! Man nothing like Top Gun!
Finally a Superhornet.. can't get one in DCS.. but flying the C model hornet onto the boat is quite a challenge anyway
make another video in opf microsoft flight simulator 2020 love your video of that game sim
Now all of that in VR ..... Just AMAZING !!!
Looks like a lot of fun. You gotta respect those Navy pilots!
The key to landing any aircraft is using power for altitude and pitch for airspeed.
I like how you noticed that adding power to get airspeed also made you high, so you're half way there already!
FLIGHT SIM IS BACK LETSS GOOOO
Tmartn came back! What an amazing series
can't wait to watch top gun this Tuesday 😁😁
1:17 "I was always told......." Now we will never know what he was going to say.
17:10 sorry late to the party. but if you are on speed with your f18, DONT use your elevator anymore! what you want to do is to trim your aircraft for on speed, and then you control your elevation just with your power lever. pull it -> nose goes down, push it -> nose goes up. using joystick for elevator in this moment would mess up your AoA! the hornet is designed to get trimmed into a certain AoA and then it will hold it, as long as you dont push/pull your joystick. i think thats pretty much the secret here.
oh yeah … just as a side note … never ever flare when landing on a boat! just smash it down.
I love pilot Trevor it’s amazing ❤
This is amazing. After watching Top Gun Maverick, I've been really interested in fighter jets.
low key he looks a little like Bob…👀🤣
Dude, I agree! I saw it Wednesday and it was frikin amazing. Hands down the best movie I've ever seen. I'm going to see it again Monday. Would have gone back sooner but work the 5 nights between! Adulting sucks!
I also came here after watching top gun 2 😂
I wish I had the chance to fly once a plane (preferably a jet😂) and maybe Tom Cruise sitting behind me 😁
Well, at least dreaming is for free
We need Top Gun VR with special equipment. Expensive? So? People would buy it!
I saw top gun in amc Dolby cinema twice last week and now I'm here. only a matter of time before I buy a decommissioned f-16
I was an f14 carrier pilot and you did pretty well.
I can neither confirm or deny that I paused the video at the beginning and watched the opening scene of the og Top Gun
coming from a US Naval F/A-18 hornet pilot, that was the worst carrier landing I have ever seen
No way, a trained pilot can land better than someone with low experience? No way bro
Use trim for pitch and throttle for rate of descent. AOA needs to remain constant, on the Orange Circle. MIL is full power, it's needed if you miss a cable, a cable snaps or the hook comes free or whatever, then you will already be ready to take off instead of plummeting into the sea as you fly off the end of the carrier. As soon as you hit the deck apply full power
Yo Yooooo!! Really happy to see flight sim in Subbox again
I also watched the previous one like a couple hours before the new 😂. Made the movie even so much better def 10/10 for me!
Glad this game makes you earn it. No easy grades. Getting a B is a challenge.
We need a house flipper videos plssssss👀🙏🏻
Still way easier than trying to land on the NES version.
When you land with those jets you have to kind of invert the controls. The stick is used to go left/right and fast/slow, while the throttle is used to go up and down.
The idea is to set your plane up for that the AoA indicator (the 2 arrows and the circle) shows the circle. You do that with the trim (up/down). When it is there, don't move your stick forward/backwards again.
The mirror (displayed on top) in there to tell your altitude relative to the glide path, the trajectory you need to have to touch at the right spot on the deck.
If you need to go up, increase thrust ; if you need to go down, decrease thrust. There is no sweet spot, you will be constantly adjusting the thrust.
On the contrary, be very gentle with the stick. You'll mainly lightly adjusting left/right. If you need to adjust AoA, do it with the trim but don't chase it. Leave the plane be, it is designed to stabilize itself. Put it in the good AoA (the circle) with the trim and you're good.
Lastly, you see just under the carrier deck a light. It gives you your alignment to the landing strip.
You don't hit the deck in the same direction of the boat but roughly 9-10 degrees left.
That light is telling you what to do :
Red flashing - you are far left,
Red solid - you are a little left,
Orange - you are good on center,
Green solid - you are little bit right,
Flashing green - you are far right.
The quicker it flashes, the further you are from the centerline of the landing strip (and NOT the direction of the boat)
And of course, as soon as you hit the deck you go full burner in case you miss the wires (which is called "bolter") or the wire snaps.
Don't eyeball the deck, always look at your AoA, the mirror and the alignment light ... you cross check everything until touchdown, especially the mirror. Touchdown has to happen almost as a surprise and you keep full thrust until the plane is no longer going forward.
Glad you are trying the new dlc it’s fun
Imagine this video was sponsored. You flying an F18, doing all those tests.. and landing to an entrance, and doing all those tests again on msfs.
And getting an A in all of them
top gun was sick trev
I missed this series
Tmartn looks like hangman’s brother who went to school for computer science
Top Gun Maverick is one of my favourite films of all time

About to head to work but now I’m watching 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 gameplay of Microsoft Flight Simulator from Trev the goat.
you technically didnt learn to fly an fa-18 this sim aint even close youd love dcs
I got an A when I realized that it´s easier to control the VS and glide slope with the throttle and not so much with the elevator. Good lucky
