I’m waiting for someone to show that Lucario isn’t bottom tier. He may not be super great but he definitely isn’t as bad as I’ve seen him on tier lists
I agree with you on that one. He definitely has weaknesses, but there's no way he's as bad as some people think. He's just really underused and unexplored.
I'd agree with you on most of that @Jazycamp. The reason Lucario doesn't get to really abuse aura is because a lot of the good characters in this game have true kill confirms that can end you under 100% easy. But your right tho, it does always seem like you can live for a really long time sometimes whatever the pros say XD Depends on the matchup and the opponent, really.
With the inclusion of the new DLC characters it's becoming very apparent how underpowered and flawed Lucario is and I'm hoping to see some serious buffs but it's wishful thinking
There isn't a bad character as long as you know how to play them. Even Little Mac is good if you really practice how to use him and be able to land his aerials
This was actually just what I needed. I'm just starting to main Lucario and came upon this video and just felt amazed at how I never would've done much without seeing this
I love the editing and music choice! I'm a Lucario main btw, and that down throw combo at the beginning is something I hadn't considered going for. I usually would only go up throw combos, but if down throw works at zero, it's good to know! Keep up the good work! You got a subscriber! :3
As a fellow lucario main, I approve this comment. Fun fact about the down throw combos. unfortunately, ALL OF THEM ARE USELESS IF THE OPPONENT D.I. IN TOWARDS LUCARIO
Yeah, this stuff is used really properly by Lucario players in ultimate, especially the b-air confirm out of canelling aura Sphere is a very important option to take Stocks. Nice video, keep it, dude!
This was actualy realy helpful. I can be hard tk find combos that work with Ora and a lot of videos do a lot of combos in a short time and it can honestly be overwhelming.
Late comment. Sorry. But just wanted to say thx man this has helped me alot. My favorite combo is the one where you use aura sphere in the air then up air
Made a combo of my own: - (Aura sphere fully charged first and you and opponent at around 0%.) -Grab and attack opponent three or four times then throw them upward. -Short up-air attack. -Short neutral-air attack. -Aura sphere. A bit difficult to land the combo, but landing the combo should give around 50% percent damage.
These are good combos, but I think the top 2 combos should be aura sphere into shield cancel into either side be or up smash! They are both way more consistent than jumping combos out of Sphere. Side b and uptilt/ up smash can be preformed at both low percents and high percents unlike back air out of sphere which can only work at high percents.
I am looking forward to more guides from you you seem to be really good giving information and showing and I appreciate that alive not a lot of people do that I do appreciated hell yeah man
Ok, a quick tip for all you aspiring Lucarios out there. If you initiate a jab lock, I don't suggest going for a second jab while the opponent's on the ground. Just go for jab 1, then f smash or down smash. That gets a little less damage, but it's far more consistent.
Adding comment here because of comment directed towards new players who wouldn't know otherwise: YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH FRAMES FOR ANY OF THE SMASH ATTACKS TO BE TRUE!!! USE ANYTHING THAT IS 14 frames OR FEWER (d-tilt/f-tilt/up tilt late hit [frame 13]/etc) Thanks for coming to my Aura Talk
*Does anyone else here think that besides being a fast, strong and AMAZING fighter, Lucario just looks so huggable!? I've loved Lucario and wanted to hug him for 12 years, now!! Seriously, he's just BEAUTIFUL to me!! 😍*
you shoudve showcased some up tilt combos cause their actually really good i started doing nair then late hit of up tilt and you can get so much out of it. But great video love the music lol.
Yeah late hit of up tilt is pretty good. Can actually true combo into up air at kill percents which is nice. I didn't think you could combo late up tilt after nair tho. You sure that's true?
@@abint8094 whats the % window I'd love to test this. If it really is true it could be a really good option since Lucario's nair is so good and safe. Being able to true combo into late uptilt would negate the risk of going for it's late hit in neutral since its kinda slow. (Frame 13 for the last hit I believe) Edit: If this work's I'll definitely make a video on up tilt things cause I might actually have enough info for a separate vid
@@Anput777 obviously it depends on ur aura and the character ur fighting so it's better if u just test it out. But this is true because of how little landing lag lucario nair has it's actually crazy
It’s too bad that they won’t give Lucario more combo roots, you should make a vid on some set ups Lucario has, like frame traps and edge guarding set ups
Most of his combos start from grabs. You set up the grab with: d-tilt at lowish percents, landing nair to grab, or nair to d-tilt to grab. If you wanna get technical, you can aura sphere charge cancel (pressing jump/dodge just a few frames before landing while charging Aura Sphere, it'll cancel the animation and no shield will pop up, you can act immediately while landing) when you hit the ground, and run up grab, but it's more a pressure/read based thing.
Once you got 60% or more aura on you, that's when you get more technical, fun stuff. Aura sphere charge hitbox into any aerials, ASC to run back f-smash to cover airdodges, ASC to Bair to cover jumps, ASC to force palm grab (read based, if they like to hold shield). As you can see, he has lots of good stuff, but it requires lots of reaction based stuff, and reading/predicting. Which is why he is better offline than online imo
As far as edge guarding, depends on the mu. Let's say if I'm going against someone who's recovery doesn't have a hit box. Low aura? Just ledge trap with Aura sphere. High aura? Oh boy. You can run off, b-reverse ASC to b-air and it kills dumb early, like around 40-50%, it requires you to read the timing of their recovery (easier said than done) but it's worth noting
While it would be cool if lucario had more combos, the ones he does have work pretty well. As for making a video one edge guarding and setups.. maybe? I won’t pretend to be an expert at this game or character
There are also plenty of combos I didn’t go over here. You can start combos with the late hit of up tilt and falling up air as well. Platforms give lucario more options with fair and nair too.
Im playing on joycons and im having trouble executing a dsmash after the jab. For some reason, touching the right stick which is what i usually do to smash just makes lucario do jab2?
Here's a tip for everyone, don't try and do combos past 40 percent because it won't work, it would be better the just charge aura sphere and throw them off stage.
Yeah it always look pretty cool when you can get a long combo/string with Lucario. His combos usually aren't too extensive, so when you get one that is you can really impress your friends XD
I hate to bring a vibe down (especially 2 years after the fact) but I gotta make the comment in respect to the truth. That being, Lucario doesn't get any smash attacks on jab locks, at least, not true smashes. If you get a smash attack off a jab lock, the reason is your opponent is garbage. For extra context, Lucario gets 14 frames after Jab 1, and 12 frames for jab 2. There are 38 plus frames after the jab lock (minus 24/26, to leave us with 14/12). At most, the best thing a Lucario can get off a jab lock is a down tilt combo or late hit up tilt (frame 13) combos (unless they are at death percentage and you can just f-tilt/down air). Great video aside!!
How in the hell do you get that first combo? I see this technique in a lot of combo guides for other characters but I can never get my character to ascend so smoothly like that. Thanks in advance for commenting back.
Hey This video is cool. Never use Lucario down throw, the Up Throw is better because you can put more damage and that's true. However, the down throw is never true But again, nice vidéo ! :D That's really fun to watch videos about my boi Lucario. This is pretty cool
Not sure I'd agree with you about dthrow, but thanks for the feedback! I find depending on a players di you can get more out of down throw on occasion, especially with platforms. Due to being his lowest knock back throw, it also has utility when trying to throw an opponent onto a platform for tech chasing and getup roll reads. (Of course, I didn't talk about that here, so in regards to this video you certainly have a point, up throw is better for simpler combos, especially online, where down throw combos often miss due to having tighter execution windows. I also enjoy watching just about any SSBU Lucario video I find. Never gets old :D
I recently saw (but haven’t tested myself so don’t kill me) that you can also confirm upsmash still in ssbu for a kill in center stage, but what are your thoughts on its kill power?
Sorry, confirm into upsmash from what exactly? If you mean from aura sphere, yeah, that's true at certain percents and aura. As for the kill power, its like everything else Lucario has. Weak at 0 but pretty insane at high %
Aaalrighty, sorry, but those first few combos are *_not_* a good option, you can _easily_ do Up Throw instead of down and not only does it do more damage in the end, but unlike Down Throw as the starter it's true and much more consistent. *Don't use Down-Throw kids.*
Thanks for the feedback! Obviously jab locks are never true, but most players aren't perfect and will miss techs occasionally. Lucario's nair also sends at a very low angle so its difficult to react in time, especially online. If you perform this at the lowest percent where nair still sends into a tumble only really really floaty characters like jiggs should be able to get out. At high percents, yes, its easier to tech and more characters can air dodge/jump out.
