  • A simple snowflake pattern to practice joining rings and making decorative picots, either graduated in size or all the same size.
A surgeon's knot is also discussed as a very secure way to tie ends together.

By the way, we've started to learn how to read a shuttle tatting pattern with this video. It's interesting. I didn't know that it's possible without a diagram.

😀 That's what I had in mind.....to introduce you to one way of reading a tatting pattern. There are many, and I will explain more about them in the future.
Diagrams, in my opinion, are perfect patterns because they are visual representations of the rings, chains and number of stitches required. Very few words needed.
Some people also appreciate a "numbers only" approach, showing only the number of double stitches and picots required.
As a beginner, you may have no preference to one written pattern method or another. Understanding the stitch technique and how to create the rings and chains is most important.
You will come to learn, with practice and experience, which written expression of these you like best.
      I'm glad I could help. 🙂
