If you guys have more than 3 children, 2 of whom are still in isofix seats then you wouldnt take such a dim view of the Q7. Not a likeable car, I agree, but the most comfortable/practical family car it most definately is. Ive actually got rid of my RS6 because of this. Just not big enough to fit them all in. Seeing a few comments that everyone is a twat who buys one. Im a proper petrol head but family needs come first. People who make sweeping generalisations are mostly twats themselves.
In fact! Q7 is the only premium SUV I know of that has 3 separate seats with dedicated isofix points on each seat. If you don't want a minivan Q7 is the only option. GLS, X7, XC90 none has 3 isofix on the back seat.
I drive a standard Q7 and in 35k miles it has not once felt too large for the road. You cannot just jump in a car and expect to feel at one with it, that takes a little time so the size comments are ridiculous, there are much wider cars on sale. As for it not feeling fast, like most Audi’s it will be faster than the published numbers but the lag is big concern and might stop me from buying one so a useful if somewhat biased review.
Some guy sued the audi dealer in Lithuania because he described similar issues and wasn't warned in advance/couldn't test drive it without buying the car, he also blamed the stricter regulation tests and that he suspected it had something to do with lowering the emissions as much as possible.
I hate these things and massive SUV's in general. They are a menace in inner-city Melbourne, driven by white-knuckled, terrified people with minimal car control and abysmal spatial awareness. They're getting bigger too, it's like an arms race of who can have the tallest, widest boat - which they absolutely need so they can see over each other. But if you're in a normal hatchback or sedan, you have no visibility at all. They're heavy, expensive and inefficient. What was wrong with a good estate or sedan for families?
David Norman People are saying diesel is on the way out, so why are Audi using diesel engines in their new models? Personally, I have no problem with diesels, in fact I wish I’d gone for one in my new Q3, rather than the 35tfsi which is underpowered in this car.
@@georgewhiteford9869 Manufacturers are still using them because there's still a marker for them as much as governments are trying to make as much money as possible to phase them out. I drive a 2.0TDI 2019 Audi A6 and I can get nearly 800 miles to 55 litres of fuel (think that is around 1200km??) no petrol or hybrid car can deliver that with the 7.6 seconds to 60MPH, and the amount of torque the engine produces, for that efficiency, and no electric car can offer any of this for the price I paid for mine, so diesel is here to stay for at least another 15 years.

This is easily one of the best car review channels on youtube, totally deserves more attention. The good, honest, relaxed kind of commentary that I enjoy with good coverage. As for Audi's my dad owned an Audi 5000 and he has hated the brand ever since lol.
Oh come one, they are talking 90% of time why the car is not pulling, how is that a review. EVERYTHING else about the car is "it's ok or it's decent", wow such indepth
You might not like those touch screens but the whole point is for the driver to not to use them but for the passengers audi’s cockpit can be fully adjustable so you can do everything you need on it
I think these have been timed at 0-62 in 4.6. When you're moving children and gear they make a lot of sense. Real world 35mpg can be achieved, potentially 600 miles on a tank.
i recently upgraded my RS6 Perfomance to an SQ8 and i can genrally say that its a solid car... it looks alot more sporty than the SQ7 and its a fully raw experience... no noise through speakers or anything... i think you need to do an updated reveiw on the 2021 SQ8 TFSI if you want to experience it properly.
I love cars with all my heart and soul but (and therefore?) I would rather walk than drive one of these pathetic pretend-elegant, pretend-sporty, pretend offroad lumps.
I love cars too, proper petrol head. Hate SUVs but when you have 3 or more kids cars like this are a no brainer, purely for the utility and space. Never thought id see the day but im getting one. Only car that can have 7 seats up and room for double buggy. My RS6 wasnt big enough sadly. Q8 is utterly pointless I agree but not Q7.
I’m sure J knows that all those lovely V8 burbles are actually essentially an MP3 being played to the speakers of the car, ABT actually sell software as an upload to the ECU to emulate American muscle cars or any other car for that matter that comes comes out of the speakers in the exhaust, I can’t even come up with the words to explain how appalled I am that AUDI thought this was a good idea, I’ve had two new shape S8 V8 turbo petrols that thrilled me endlessly but this is just the beginning of the end. Come on AUDI, it’s not an S product,... this S brand has lost its way
I hope you’re right, range Rover with the SVR got it spot-on and frankly this is an embarrassment, I love Audi but this is just complete BS, that’s why I’m driving an M car now, although not many V8’s are left there either, but twin turbo V6 petrol is better than this nonsense
I think they use a "speaker" type of set-up to interfere with the pressure wave frequency in the mufflers as well, beacuse they actually sound bloody good from the outside as well
@@ryancaugust Actually, if you've ever had one of these on a hoist, you see it is a round resonator at the rear of both of the exhausts with a speaker-like diaphragm that amplifies the sound... It gets switched on an off via the DriveSelect
Guys, do you realize what you are saying? No Diesel anymore because you don't want CO2? The petrol V8 is ok for dioxide? Are you off your rocker? It's totally wrong
I bought an SQ7 after watching this video. I wasn't able to drive it first because of the Covid situation. I think it's a very handy car - I've covered 6000 miles in the 5 weeks I've had it driving between the midlands and Scottish highlands. I don't really feel this delay/lag issue, not in mine anyway, ir maybe it's just me. Now it's had an oil change I've thoroughly tested it on some suitable highland roads. It's very impressive. The only thing I do detect is there is boost from the supercharger, and then extra boost when the turbos kick in. So, in that sense there is a sort of lag.
I had the first gen of the SQ7. It was fine when running in, but became more laggy as time went on. After about 3 years it was as more noticeable. I live in Scotland and drive to England often so the motorway drives were seamless. I know drive a BMW X7.
It is very clear that what is wrong here is the lack of instant torque, any one silly enough to buy one of these rather than the E-Tron will loose shed loads of their money, diesel is dead!
It's not the gearbox as it has been proven on other WLTP approved VAG diesels that don't have this ZF 8HP which still are slow to react from a standstill. These new WTLP approved diesels appear to have a certain and incredibly ridiculous software limit on engine power and throttle response to pass aforementioned WTLP requirements. Most customers report a 2 second "dead zone" while accelerating from a standstill and this is not even limited to diesels in the European region. American owners report a "dead zone" of 2,3 or even 4 seconds in their petrol powered Q8s accelerating after they crawl to a stop or slow down to 1-10 km/h during which the engine shuts down and activates it's start/stop mode.
All this anti diesel nonsense is just that. Rules were broken which is why they were bad. Thats done and dusted. Audi are right. Diesels are still miles more efficient in normal use and when not cheating on emissions they're at least as clean (usually cleaner) than the equivalent petrol. If you really want less emissions stop sending millions of commuters into cities each day to sit in offices which they could quite easily do from home. Cut unnecessary commutes and we could all drive pretty much anything while still cutting emissions.
The best quote ever ever ever "there are no good driving roads in Surrey" I hate living in Surrey purely because I love driving. A combination of: Traffic, more traffic, road works, pot holes, really bad drivers, boring roads, boring scenery, traffic and traffic.
Main point of purchasing this car is the 7 seats And still wanting a fast vehicle There's very few fast 7seaters this might be it Others have smaller third row seats
AS usual a lot of comments from people who can not affords such cars, but drive around in their tuned Hyundai I20. Write some useful comments when you know what you are talking about. Now i will tell you the secret. For 8 months you could not order an Audi Sq7, and Sq8 was delayed, like a lot of other Audi models with more powerful engines. Reason was that the engines was not enough clean to fit for the strict emission regulations. After long time you could finally order the SQ7 again and he Sq8. Theoretical it is the same engine like before, but in reality not, its more regulated by the softtware. Try to drive a 2016 - 2018 Audi Sq7, and it drives in different way. What the dudes in the video are telling is mostly nonsence, the old W12 diesel is slower thant the SQ7, around same time to 100 km/h, but already by 200 km/h the old W12 diesel is putted "far" behind, it uses 50 % more diesel than the Sq7, and is more heavy - and incredible expensive to maintain. My own Cayenne diesel S was on my last long trip for 1700 km using average 9,2 liters for 100 km, quite ok in my opinion, for 2.2 ton and 330 kw, of course it was also a quite relaxing trip, and i was only crossing the 200 km/h limet a few times. But, still a good value.
Just because you own a Luke warm Audi SUV you haven’t made it in life you know 😂😂. I’ve got a full fat RS car and there is no way on earth I’d waste money on a souped up overweight wobbly barge like this. Give me an RS6 every time.
The biggest issue with Audis is the lack of spec as standard, like you mention doesn’t even have memory seats as standard on a £75k car! Makes finding a good used one harder as so few spec things like lane change assist etc.
I can tell you.... I own the previous model SQ7 - exactly the same as this one below. Utterly no turbo lag so I have no idea what these lads are talking about. Watch this ua-cam.com/video/QnDdmUqQ7m8/v-deo.html
I ended up skipping through a bit of this video - did they end up pin pointing what exactly was "very wrong" with the vehicle. A good friend of mine has one, and it definitely pulls all the performance numbers that Audi claims (absolutely hoses his old X5 50M). If seat of the pants feel feel, the fact a large comfortable, practical SUV doesnt "feel" as fast as it is actually going, then perhaps you should buy a 1990's Honda Integra that feels like its going twice as fast as it actually is?
I honestly wouldn't mind a diesel I like the effortless torque and you get decent economy I am now dailing a Rover 75 v6 and that 2.5 petrol v6 albeit sounds wonderful it drinks more than the behemoth of a car this SQ7 is. But if I ever was on the market for an SUV it would the Range Rover wouldn't look any further
Most people buy a crossover or SUV type thing because they don’t want to scrape their arse along the floor all day, most normal cars are utterly miserable in the back, plus the raised driving position makes driving in traffic much easier, plus you feel safer, you may not be, but that’s why people buy them. This end of the market is however all about lording it over everyone else and feeling superior.
When did Europeans become so sceptical about diesels? I am not saying they are better than petrols, but we can atleast admit they are a good alternative to petrol engines. Diesels became a big thing in Europe due to oil prices and regulations long time ago. Since then, we became aware of its good and bad sides. They are decent engines that are efficient, torquey and can be very powerful. I have A4 2017 3l V6 quattro that spends 6.5 l in avg on a 600 km highway trip with avg. speed of 130 km/h. Get that with a petrol.
There's Something VERY Wrong With The New Audi SQ7 and SQ8... they're the car of an inveterate turd. One of the reasons we're having all these regulations foisted on us is that people keep buying gargantuan cars. Show some self-restraint and there will be fewer reg's. Really interesting review, though, and good for you for pointing out the car's many (and many of them are inherent to something so needlessly huge) flaws. Funny too - and well done for showing the reg. plate of the tool in the Range Rover. Imagine buying this instead of an RS6...
wrong the regulations are about control, not the environment cars already are a tiny fraction of global emissions, and those regulations change a miniscule amount of those, mostly shifting them from use to production laws like this are designed to create the most noticable restrictions for their effect, a sort of environmental martyrdom
Mercedes and BMW addressed the low torque qt low rpm problems by making the cars a mild hybrid. VAG went the wrong way, technologically, again. Dieselgate 2 perhaps?
The thing with dieselgate... All the manufacturers have done it. Else they couldn't compete with one another. I feel the same with the NCAP crash tests.. Its a completely defined test, hit x block at y speed with x offset etc. You can build a frame that does this very well, but hit 10cm further to one side, and it can be very crappy.
He should've driven the pre-facelift SQ7. This thing was a beast. But because of emissions this car isn't as quick as before. How do i know? Because I've driven both
I have actually covered quite a few miles in the new SQ8, and I strongly agree with your criticism of the car. the acceleration is honestly terrible - a 2013 SQ5 TDI with 313 hp feels substantially faster. it is as if the car deliberately accelerates as 'gently' and lazily as possible. however it is a great autobahn cruiser. turn on lane assist and cruise control in the comfort setting and it literally drives like a cruise ship. getting it up to speed is extremely effortless and the car is very luxurious. it just has nothing even remotely sporty about it...
@@chrisdabom well it's the way the acceleration feels, the gearbox makes it pretty much impossible for you to give the car more than 3000 rpm (even in dynamic mode!), and when you actually try to floor it, nothing happens until you look down and see youre about to lose your license.
@@john2357 Something is wrong with that one you drove. Sounds buggered. Our dealership got our first facelift SQ7 (in NZ) today and it gets above 3000 rpm no dramas... When our SQ7 it was in transport mode, before our techs took it out during its PDI, it stopped at 3200rpm too...
People buy SUVs for only 3 reasons: 1 - Serious off-roading 2 - Their hips have given up and they can't get into a lower car. 3 - They're a wanker 1 is a valid reason to buy a Land Cruiser (/Defender/Jimny/etc). 2 is a valid reason to buy a Kadgar (because that's a better badge than "cashcow") and 3 is a valid reason to punch them in the face. SQ7 drivers will all be number 3.
Because you don’t like scraping your arse along the floor, raised cars are more relaxing in traffic as you get better visibility, plus there’s a perseived caché to owning a large luxury SUVs.
Perceived cache = want people to see them driving a fancy car more than they want an actual good car = number 3. High driving position and don't care about agility...why do they want the high driving position? I'm going with number 3.

I think the problem is that todays cars are to massiv, heavy and to perfect. You just can‘t feel what is going on. Take a 90is car with maybe 1200 kilos and 150 or 200 hp. These cars made real fun to drive. I say back to the roots!
Love this review! Shared it with my local dealer up in Yorkshire. Test drive the SQ8 and was shocked my v8 diesel Range Rover picks up quicker initially even tho it’s got a lot less BHP & torque!
Can only imagine the absolute tedium of being employed in the Audi exterior design department - must be like working for Indesit, Hotpoint or Smegg churning out fridges or washing machines. They’re not cars they’re packaging. Same story with most of these things.
Can I just point out how this interior, with all its presently interesting electric screens for everything, will age terribly as technology continuously improves. While a boggo dacia will not age as much because of a relative lack of focus on tech
I must admit I was really looking forward to getting the SQ8 as my 4.4v8 diesel Range Rover replacement as it’s hot a similar engine but didn’t need all the space. I test drive the sq8 and pulled out worried as it didn’t pick up as quick as my 339hp Range Rover!! Once the power hit, it seemed quick but the window of power seemed really narrow near the top end... I mentioned this at the garage and they wanted a deposit to them check the car... I walked away!
Now that was an enjoyable vid'. It's refreshing to hear a couple of geezers telling things how they actually are. There's too much fawning done toward car companies by journos because (I suppose) they're scared of not being invited back. Good work. :)
The gearbox issue is not specific to this car, its with all the Audi autos whether its 7-speed Stronic or 8 Speed ZF. The software for the transmission is not as sophisticated as you get from other germans. BMW was way ahead in adapting ZF box they really nailed the software for it. Not sure why Audi can't nail down the seamless change you can get with the transmission. I have an A5 and hate the transmission especially with the lovely 3-litre v6 buttery smooth engine. it's a shame.
Hey Jay, love the vid! Glad we can count on you for telling it how it really is. Small note, not completely sure if true: In the University of Nijmegen I've picked up that, in combustion engines, it's basically a trade-off between Mileage and Emissions. Meaning, higher mileage (lower consumption) in a given engine will mean an increase in greenhouse emissions. I've also picked up, from a worker at a large oil-company, that we still have enough fossil fuels for hundreds of years to come. Not sure of those two statements are true, but I do think they are. So, concluding: the SQ7 consumes alot of fuel, to keep emissions down, the latter seeming to be a real problem.
Could it be the adaptive drivetrain that vehicles have had for quite some time now? So when you first get in and start driving, it’s learning how heavy-footed the driver is that trip, traffic conditions, steering inputs, braking inputs, and therefore since you’re also in Surrey, and the vehicle knows that too BTW....... It's keeping you, and potentially others in that area safer. Because how awful would it be for VAG if there was an accident in Surrey involving Audi's brand-new SQ7, at their launch event, plastered all across the various media sites? Just a thought.
11:17 - The car you should buy. Of course I'd buy a diesel, in my 20's now and still got my first car and I still use it daily, 1.9 TDI Polo. Not a single problem, extreme longevity, 50 MPG no matter how you drive it and plenty of pull for a little car
I drove the new A8 3.0 tdi recently and it exhibits the same hesitancy and unresponsiveness at low revs. Dealer told me it is to do with the new WLTP regulations and manufacturers trying to lower co2. It is a shame as it makes new diesel cars very dull and laggy. Pre-facelift SQ7 was a rocket. Shame.
on a side note, there are a lot of 'down votes' on this already, if you are down voting review videos because you dont like the product, please stop it! if you own or have personal experience of the product enough to dislike it, leaving a comment to that effect would be so much more helpful, disliking the review video because you dont like the product is not at all helpful. it just makes people think 'this is a bad review video'
I've got the previous SQ7..... Were you kidding with this review? (turbo lag???,handles like a barge???). I love mine and test drove anything comparable before I bought it? The 0-100kph figure is right. 900Nm is available wayyyy down low. I'm putting this interview down to queer poms.... here's a better review (same as mine).... ua-cam.com/video/QnDdmUqQ7m8/v-deo.html
So, like me, you're too poor to pay for it? My RS5 is pretty cool but, for the family, I would much rather this over a Touareg if money wasnt an object... Plus 7 seats too!
Like most VAG products, fantastic designs, high PERCEIVED quality but low cost engineering and cost cutting with suppliers, sub par engines, too much in group recycling and dreadfull reliability. Along with Merc (S Class apart) they've managed in the last 15 yrs to give the German car industry a very bad reputation...
The problem with Audi's these days, is that there are TOO many of them ... they've got too many models with standard A1,3,4,5,6,7,8, .. , Sx, RSx, Qx, SQx ... and don't forget the R8, TT ... .,

The schematic of the car near the start of the video - you see those ball-like things on the exhaust? They are 'transducers' AKA speakers... in the exhaust... making a fake rumble noise.
Nice review, re diesel it's not so much I wouldn't buy another on the basis of not liking them I like diesels for a certain job, what worries me is that government(s) will continue to penalise even new ones with latest tech and slowly start putting the price of diesel fuel up.
Diesel is still a dirtier fuel - produces far worse pollutants than petrol. Making those pollutants 'not as bad' is arse about tit - just don't use the dirty fuel in the first place.
@@julianevans9548 Take two equivalent 2-ton 4x4's, one petrol and one diesel. The petrol 4x4 will be lucky to achieve 20mpg. The diesel 4x4 will be able to achieve 40mpg. I've a 2.0 TDI 2020 model year A6, 200BHP and I love it I'd buy diesel again and again, until electric cars are a genuine alternative.
Me too.
You ought to drive a 1.3 Astra CDTi. THAT thing has turbo lag.
i recently upgraded my RS6 Perfomance to an SQ8 and i can genrally say that its a solid car... it looks alot more sporty than the SQ7 and its a fully raw experience... no noise through speakers or anything... i think you need to do an updated reveiw on the 2021 SQ8 TFSI if you want to experience it properly.
Wow the weather in Surrey brightened up quickly, and it got very mountainous, as it does.
I love cars with all my heart and soul but (and therefore?) I would rather walk than drive one of these pathetic pretend-elegant, pretend-sporty, pretend offroad lumps.
John Mitchell Nah. She’s defo got a second-gen Beetle with the vase on the dash.
Seriously doubt it. By any quantifiable measure riding in one of these would be a hell of a lot more comfortable than walking.
Ok boomer
@Jack njones SQ7 competes with X7 M50d, not M50i.
Edit: actually, it competes with the X5 M50d, not with the X7.
Guys, do you realize what you are saying? No Diesel anymore because you don't want CO2? The petrol V8 is ok for dioxide? Are you off your rocker? It's totally wrong
But it isnt CO2 which has been the recent focus, NOx has
I bought an SQ7 after watching this video.
There is no supercharger
@@JayEmmOnCars there is, the electrically driven one on the 48V system
That one drives a compressor which is supposed to eliminate turbo lag. It doesnt work.
I had the first gen of the SQ7. It was fine when running in, but became more laggy as time went on. After about 3 years it was as more noticeable. I live in Scotland and drive to England often so the motorway drives were seamless. I know drive a BMW X7.
My money is on someone from Audi claiming, "the car was in Running mode and it was preserving the transmission" until so many miles had been covered
My money's on VAG knowing that the customer wouldn't notice or care. Customers who do care can choose another of their cars.
It is very clear that what is wrong here is the lack of instant torque, any one silly enough to buy one of these rather than the E-Tron will loose shed loads of their money, diesel is dead!
I'll find out soon. Got an E Tron next
It’s the gearbox boys. All diesel Audi’s with that gearbox are slow to react.
It's not the gearbox
Slow reactivity seems to be a shared problem of the last generation of V6 and V8 TDI.
@@BARATTI99 If that was slow image how bad it is now... Unbearable
The best quote ever ever ever "there are no good driving roads in Surrey"
I hate living in Surrey purely because I love driving. A combination of: Traffic, more traffic, road works, pot holes, really bad drivers, boring roads, boring scenery, traffic and traffic.
Main point of purchasing this car is the 7 seats
And still wanting a fast vehicle
There's very few fast 7seaters this might be it
Others have smaller third row seats
This is the first review I seen saying this car has turbo lag, most seem to praise the response.
If they're talking about the old version of the car, I believe it is very different
Now that’s what I like the banter and discussion 👍😎 Keep up the great work
How does this compare to the original SQ7? The reviews I’ve seen for that one suggest it doesn’t suffer from the lag you are describing here.
I can tell you.... I own the previous model SQ7 - exactly the same as this one below. Utterly no turbo lag so I have no idea what these lads are talking about. Watch this
ua-cam.com/video/QnDdmUqQ7m8/v-deo.html
man ! I agree with you. Had the new a7 . When you put the foot down. The ECU is doing something to make sure the emission is met!
Yes we do. Criminal amount of turbo lag, which I suspect is introduced with the 2019 model
I like this. Two mates taking a car out for a test drive. A giggle just listening to them :-)
Glad you enjoyed the format
Wonder if it could be sorted with a remap
There's Something VERY Wrong With The New Audi SQ7 and SQ8... they're the car of an inveterate turd.
One of the reasons we're having all these regulations foisted on us is that people keep buying gargantuan cars. Show some self-restraint and there will be fewer reg's.
Really interesting review, though, and good for you for pointing out the car's many (and many of them are inherent to something so needlessly huge) flaws. Funny too - and well done for showing the reg. plate of the tool in the Range Rover.
Imagine buying this instead of an RS6...
wrong
the regulations are about control, not the environment
cars already are a tiny fraction of global emissions, and those regulations change a miniscule amount of those, mostly shifting them from use to production
laws like this are designed to create the most noticable restrictions for their effect, a sort of environmental martyrdom
Exige 430 owner, wasn’t he? Did we ever get an update on that ownership experience? I don’t think so.
He still has one, and an update will happen sometime I have just been crazy busy
Please test drive the BMW X5 or 7 M50d for powertrain comparison with the SQ7. Also a high performance diesel
Mercedes and BMW addressed the low torque qt low rpm problems by making the cars a mild hybrid. VAG went the wrong way, technologically, again. Dieselgate 2 perhaps?
Engine sound fills shed from speakers,it’s nice when you enjoying rubber dolls too!🤣
You are driving and testing in this video an audi q8 and you titled the video q7?
I want a review of the q7 pls
I am driving an SQ7. We used some exterior shots of SQ8. Underneath they are the same
Great review, you two work well together:)
Because I've driven both
How can you possibly get similar/worse milliage then a 6.0 V12 petrol in a turbo diesel V8?
Maybe because the car weighs the same as a small planet?
I have actually covered quite a few miles in the new SQ8, and I strongly agree with your criticism of the car. the acceleration is honestly terrible - a 2013 SQ5 TDI with 313 hp feels substantially faster. it is as if the car deliberately accelerates as 'gently' and lazily as possible.
however it is a great autobahn cruiser. turn on lane assist and cruise control in the comfort setting and it literally drives like a cruise ship. getting it up to speed is extremely effortless and the car is very luxurious. it just has nothing even remotely sporty about it...
How is 0-100kph in 4.8 seconds lazy for such a heavy car and a 0-70kph time faster than a Range Rover SVR?
@@chrisdabom
well it's the way the acceleration feels, the gearbox makes it pretty much impossible for you to give the car more than 3000 rpm (even in dynamic mode!), and when you actually try to floor it, nothing happens until you look down and see youre about to lose your license.
@@chrisdabom
thats actually seems to explain it then, youre probably right man, my bad!
why buy a wagon on stilts? i dont get it
People buy SUVs for only 3 reasons:
1 - Serious off-roading
2 - Their hips have given up and they can't get into a lower car.
3 - They're a wanker
1 is a valid reason to buy a Land Cruiser (/Defender/Jimny/etc).
@@ApothecaryTerry Or
4. They just want a High driving position and don't care about agility so they get a suv.
Perceived cache = want people to see them driving a fancy car more than they want an actual good car = number 3.
High driving position and don't care about agility...why do they want the high driving position? I'm going with number 3.
@@ApothecaryTerry some of us live in countries with real winters. for decades for us owning bmw's mercs and audis ment that you either had to store it over the winter or to be ready to regulary have real troubles using the thing. i've driven 3 5 and 7 series along with e c and s classes through the winters so i talk with experience there. when the high end SUV thing became a thing for us it ment that we could enjoy those cars in all conditions. yes they are no defenders or wranglers. but they are enough. yeah i would not own one if i lived in london. but millions of people dont.
another thing is that many people just like driving suv's, they like how they drive, they like how practical they are.
100grand?? That's brand new RS6 money. Why would you want this instead?
If you have more than 3 kids....Had an RS6 now sold for new Q7.
I think the problem is that todays cars are to massiv, heavy and to perfect. You just can‘t feel what is going on. Take a 90is car with maybe 1200 kilos and 150 or 200 hp. These cars made real fun to drive. I say back to the roots!
Surrey has changed a lot since I lived there.
Tad Ka everyone seems miserable and uptight
Ed McCarthy welcome to Britain
Mmmm... me too. Lot more mountainous than I remembered.
lol maybe you guys are trying too hard to dislike the car..
Absolutely and is embarrassingly obvious. As if they were paid to do that.
Would rather save money and buy a smaller BMW X5. 3.0D, took a test drive in one and it was quick enough and just about the right size for my needs
The instant torque in this car was the main selling point for me, I drove the Bentayga V8 and was blown away by how it just teleported down the road
Just by a prefacelift variant...
Honza Štěpán what if you don’t want the pre facelift and you like the new features...?
Good work. :)
how does it use that much fuel? my 18 ton truck does that empty!
It's not a gearbox problem
1:07 the car of the future photobombed the shot
KY69 - lol. A welcome reminder I have matured none since 13!
Yep, the thing that is very wrong with both of them ... is that I have neither of them in my garage!
🤣
Could it be the adaptive drivetrain that vehicles have had for quite some time now?
So when you first get in and start driving, it’s learning how heavy-footed the driver is that trip, traffic conditions, steering inputs, braking inputs, and therefore since you’re also in Surrey, and the vehicle knows that too BTW....... It's keeping you, and potentially others in that area safer. Because how awful would it be for VAG if there was an accident in Surrey involving Audi's brand-new SQ7, at their launch event, plastered all across the various media sites?
Just a thought.
How many people would have the £ for this ? I thought the suv / 4 by 4 are not meant to be racers and fast
Here in NZ we sell so many SQ7s it just isnt funny!
Shame.
on a side note, there are a lot of 'down votes' on this already,
if you are down voting review videos because you dont like the product, please stop it! if you own or have personal experience of the product enough to dislike it, leaving a comment to that effect would be so much more helpful,
disliking the review video because you dont like the product is not at all helpful. it just makes people think 'this is a bad review video'
Drove it, you will love this car!
How wrong can you be.
Trust me, the issues in this were not overplayed at all, certainly not with regards to turbo lag. Big issue with lot of cars coming out in Europe
I'd rather have the new Touareg tbh can't justify the extra cost of the sq7
So, like me, you're too poor to pay for it? My RS5 is pretty cool but, for the family, I would much rather this over a Touareg if money wasnt an object... Plus 7 seats too!
Like most VAG products, fantastic designs, high PERCEIVED quality but low cost engineering and cost cutting with suppliers, sub par engines, too much in group recycling and dreadfull reliability. Along with Merc (S Class apart) they've managed in the last 15 yrs to give the German car industry a very bad reputation...
The problem with Audi's these days, is that there are TOO many of them ... they've got too many models with standard A1,3,4,5,6,7,8, .. , Sx, RSx, Qx, SQx ... and don't forget the R8, TT ... .,
Just had a quick look at what one of these things would cost in the Netherlands.. Just shy of 140000gbp. No wonder we have less of the nice specced cars here.
100 grand is stupid money for four rings, a dark cabin and huge lag that somebody should've ironed out prior to release.
You got one thing right calling your pal is a spare. You too I’m afraid. It’s a big car. I don’t mind the colour. Its so big. It’s nippy. It’s huge. It’s not a bad car. But yeah. I’m not the target market. Oh really. About as much help to a real buyer as a chocolate teapot. Bozos.

Nice what mpg you get on there lol these guys looks like giving wrong details , as i am aware car is powerfull
Nice review, re diesel it's not so much I wouldn't buy another on the basis of not liking them I like diesels for a certain job, what worries me is that government(s) will continue to penalise even new ones with latest tech and slowly start putting the price of diesel fuel up.
Diesel cars are not a problem as long as they meet the latest Euro 6 regs...
With NOX traps and AdBlue injection (required for euro 6), the emissions are comparable with those of a petrol car. See this comment from a leading online magazine: "The VW scandal which broke in 2015 did great damage to diesel car sales - effectively killing off diesel’s reputation within a matter of months, but this was some years ago. Euro 6 emission compliance has changed everything.
Diesel has come fighting back in recent years - the latest Euro 6-compliant models are the cleanest diesels we’ve ever had. In fact, while they’ll never be as clean as electric or hybrid, on many levels they’re cleaner and less polluting than most petrol-fuelled vehicles.”
