FYI Sir Toms last game (Div 1) was v Luton (we won 2-0). His last home goal v Blackpool (PNE won 4-1), his last away goal v Bolton (PNE won 3-2). I was there for all 3 games.
The years I started supporting PNE, 1957/58 and 58/59, we finished 2nd & 3rd in old Div 1. Also didnt mention we won the FA cup in 1938 (huddersfield). We have twice been 90 mins away from EPL (Bolton & W Ham beat us in PO final). Didn't Bobby Charlton manage us unsuccessfully) for a while?
Fascinating piece of social history from the early days of John Pilger's career, brilliant upload thanks.
