I think what is so beautiful about them as a band is hardly any of their songs fit entirely into one genre and yet it all feels like a cohesive piece of work
pop is an umbrella term for different genres of popular music. pop is not a specific subgenre; neither is rock or EDM. so yes, twenty one pilots is a pop group with electronic, rock, rap, and indie influences
I think Routines In The Night is a genre they've never really done before, you can find a lot of songs by other artists in that same style and they're all recognizably similar to each other, same with Lavish
Thank you so kuch, you have no odea how badly I needed this video. Now I can actually explain what music they play. In the wise words of tyler "I don’t know"
and this is why i can't find anything else that scratches the same itch in my brain that they do. they make so much DIFFERENT music that's all still them, still a common denominator. we're being pulled thru a multi-album, multi-media concept right now and it's crazy, i don't know how they're pulling it off, but it's incredible. their book title was right
I think this is one reason that i adore this band (among many other reasons) but i am such a sucker for a plethora of genres, so it feeds the little music gremlin in me that desires unique musicality
It took me about half an hour XD I know all the songs of twenty one pilots and can distinguish genres well. for the image: Car Radio - Twenty One Pilots (Acoustic Cover) Matt & Luke - Acoustic on SoundCloud

I saw a comment saying twnety one pilots is their favorite [all these genres] band and the replies where saying theyre not hip hop or rap. I kind of disagree, as you saw in this video they have done pop rap. :D
The transition from Tyler screaming his head off in Car Radio to Level Of Concern is the funniest thing I've seen today
and now i just SAAAAAAAAAAAA- panic on the brain 😊😊😊
LMFAOOOO

“What genre is this album?”

“what genre is this song?”
“indie pop, wait….” *next part* “ukulele screamo”

Well put. Yummy meal
Exactly
Their genre is called ,,Stay Alive".
||-//
Stat alive gents
We just need to make a genre called “twenty one pilots” like they are their own genre
Finally one of these videos where people know what classifies a certain genre!
I think Routines In The Night is a genre they've never really done before, you can find a lot of songs by other artists in that same style and they're all recognizably similar to each other, same with Lavish
i would say that Lavish's genre is called "Lavish"
routines reminds me of post malone-ish style. Its such a bop
If you watch the Clancy live stream, Tyler agrees. That was the exact point of lavish.
I used to not like rap, rock, indie stuff and other stuff UNTIL i found out I’ve been listening to it for years…
Well I think you dislike mainstream ones from those genres. Listening to Twenty One Pilots is like hitting a goldmine.
0:41 why did I read it as pop barbecue 😭
I thought I was the only one🤣
Same dude😓
Because you forgot your music history class 🧐😤
Oh wow🤣 I saw this comment and then the words, and that was all I could see
Pop barbecue the best🤣🤣
According to AOTY, Fall Away is not only an Emo Rap song, but it is the first Emo Rap song ever
EVER?! like in history?
This is why I love TØP: love them or hate them, they are one of the bands with the highest genre range
yeh top and mcr
Should’ve thrown in Ukulele Screamo for the memes
AND NOW I JUST SIIIIIIT-.. Panic on the brain :D
The transition from Car Radio right to Level of Concern is awesome lol
forgot christmas music
Oh ms believer and csty or is there more
oh ms believer, part of goner, and christmas saves the year
I need more industrial music from them so bad lololol
also rap for levitate
I love twenty one pilots
We meet again
@@Potata12 Hello again! l-/
who doesn't? :)
Fun fact: He is making the rock-like songs with his uke but with punk plugins. It's an extraordinary thing. Love it!
Seeing someone else remember taxi cab made my day, that song runs through my blood
self titled is amazing
Isle of Flightless Birds would’ve felt more Baroque with the harpsichord, no?
@@eccentricbass3730 yea it would!
Taxi cab is for real goated. Plus the symbolism in the lyrics is so fun to analyze.
@@bandito6678 thanks man i appreciate ut
I think the hardest part of music for me is categorizing it into a genre lol
you won't say the same when you read a music theory book XD that one is much harder
@@confessionaldoll_06 I've read 2 music theory books and it didn't cover genre at all so I still don't quite get it
Great video. You could also put in “Navigating” as synth wave and “Nico and the niners” as reggae rap. This band’s versatility is amazing!
Next semester is punk rock in the verses and indie rock in the choruses
yes i can agree!
I call it pop punk
@@margoxathegamer9371 it’s not
thank you for naming these so i can find more like them! “industrial hip hop” is something i’ve never heard of before and i need more of that sound 🤩
I’d say that tear in my heart specifically is Piano rock, like ben folds five.
Thank you so kuch, you have no odea how badly I needed this video. Now I can actually explain what music they play. In the wise words of tyler "I don’t know"

No matter what they play, it's a song I can listen to all day long 🤙 up the pilots
отлично, если кто спросит, то теперь эти жанры мои любимые
“This is not rap, this is not hip hop, just another attempt to make the voices stop”
congrats on knowing the names of all these genres i could nvr
So good video :D
Great video
I think this is one reason that i adore this band (among many other reasons) but i am such a sucker for a plethora of genres, so it feeds the little music gremlin in me that desires unique musicality
And they just nail each and every one
“Ride it out to all my fears”
wait is that official single art for Taxi Cab
They already have a genre named because of them - "Schizophrenic Pop" or in short "Schizoid Pop"
This is why I PRAY to get a Tøp and Gorillaz collab I really hope that in London for the end of the Clancy tour they cross paths
Some of these genres I’ve never heard of . Interesting
Don’t forget Hometown is EDM.
next semester is so clearly punk rock not indie rock
Next semester is more of a grunge pop song than an indie rock
Also what I like to call “ukulele pop” in “The Jusge”
a minute and a half of different genders of all different songs in the same band is wild
genres* i think AHAHA
@@confessionaldoll_06 NO WAY💀
I guess i need to hear their albuns
They kinda play punk in some parts of some songs, for example Next Semester and metal elements in Jumpsuit
I'd call next semester punk, not indie rock.
I agree.
0:08 pop and rap are 2 different genres 😂
pop rap is a fusion genre. rateyourmusic.com/genre/pop-rap/
I have two questions:
1. How long did this take to make?😂
2. Where did you find that car radio artwork?
It took me about half an hour XD
I know all the songs of twenty one pilots and can distinguish genres well.
for the image: Car Radio - Twenty One Pilots (Acoustic Cover)

The fact that this video has almost 21 genres 😏
I start enjoying the song and then it skips to the next lmao
they are ukulele screamo and that’s that.
Midwest indigo is Synth rock
Oldies station is rock pop
Hometown is Electro pop
Mulberry street is Alternative pop
Navigating is straight up Emo rock
Bounce man is some kind of Mexican pop
Nico and the niners is reggae rap
Whatever the heck guns for hands is
Just to point a few missing
Bandito - psicodelic
Can't wait till they touch on metal and grunge
ode to sleep - trip hop (apparently)
Woah the thumbnail is so cool, where did you find it?
thank you! i made it
@@confessionaldoll_06 oh awesome!
choosing Chlorine for hip-hop is an interesting choice
trip hop is another genre
@@confessionaldoll_06 my dumbass thought it said hip-hop and was like “why did they choose one of the songs where he doesn’t rap at all” 😭😭
don't worry ☺️
I think there are still some genres missing, for example I don't think march to the sea fits any of these
march to the sea sounds a bit like death cab for cutie. I think it's indie pop or indietronica
I would have added EDM for Trees.
Backslide should be playing for Trip Hop
TØP music is like ADHD: it can’t decide what it wants to do on a daily basis but it’s all part of the same person
Never considered chlorine trip hop, but holy shit ur right
So they are their own genre?
I’m gonna make an updated video of this because there’s some mistakes and a lot missin
aWeSoMe jOb WiTh ThiS- but what about the genre Twenty One Pilots, I thought that would be somewhere in here-- 😜
i thought there's no way this video is only a minute 30
I don’t think Overcompensate is Industrial Rap…
I think they used to call their genre "schizo-pop" back in the day, but they haven't said that in years.
Uhh... I'm not sure if Overcompensate is an industrial song.
This quick switching between songs made me realize how boring some of their songs are when compared with others
What's Routines in the night genre?
@@TracksideTrails contemporary R&B i think
Lavish?
where is “just another attempt to make the voices stop”
some of these genres are fkn made up to make them seem more diverse

the phrase "it's not rap, it's not hip hop" is a quote to a song by them. i think everyone is aware that TOP also did rap. it's just a quote/joke

NED JUMPSCARE
TOP masters this stuff
I would consider Lane boy some variant of Rap
Also, Lovely could be considered Electro Pop?
yes! lovely is electropop or synthpop or indietronica, idk exactly. anyway sounds a bit like CHVRCHES
Fine I’ll relisten to twenty one pilots albums
This is amazing but I would say Next Semester is more Punk Rock
Punk pop

is "drum and bass" a genre tho? lol
yes for sure

Jumpsuit is hard rock
