If I duplicate the iron flywheel in aluminum 1:1 it will still be pretty heavy compared to what you’d use on a gas engine, and will keep the engine’s power pulses smooth enough, but it’ll be half the weight, so it’ll rev from 0-3800 in 2/3 the time. Still need to get a lighter primary spring, maybe even lower weights, on the primary clutch to get it to start hooking up at closer to 1100 instead of 2500 haha.

Tighten it a little and set the number up a little higher each time until it tightens a little. And what number pounds it starts to tighten at should give a good ideal of what torque specs to reinstall it to.

Hey Guys, I don't know if someone has already mentioned it , but these diesels are a Chinese copy of a Yanmar diesel. Most parts are interchangeable which should help if you need spares. They also had a tendency to "run away" by running on their own oil when they get hot and a bit worn. There should be a small crankcase breather under the rocker cover that vents directly into the intake port, that need to be altered to solve it. Shop where I use to work had these engines.

Hey guys, machinist here. Please use collets when milling, most drill chucks are pressed onto a taper since all they see is vertical load while drilling. So the side load or horizontal load you create while milling causes the drill chuck to slowly walk out of that taper, either injuring you or destroying your part. Be safe 🤘

With as porous as that casting is, I wouldn’t want to stand next to it running anything over idle. You’ll likely not lose significant amounts of mass by switching to solid aluminum, but you’ll get a far more homogenous and solid metal than that pot metal claymore

These engines are VERY over square for a diesel, around 1.2 bore/stroke ratio. That along with their high compression lets them make decent power at higher revs. Some performance diesels can make peak power around 5k and rev even higher yet. There's a de-stroked duramax drag truck that revs to 8k

@@NellisNelson not entirely true the valves seals can do it as well as the piston rings if you tip it to to extreme of an angle it may not drain the oil back from the valve cover causing it to pool around the valve seals leaking oil into the air intake causing the runaway (Volkswagen 1.5l,1.6l engines would run away this way (yes na engines) the fix was a baffle placed in the valve cover to redirect the oil to the drain holes) and the rings could leak oil past if tilted too far

Naturally asperated diesels are dogs. Due to the low vacuum of a running diesel its hard for them to suck enough air in for combustion (rolling coal) you can forget about any considerable power. Slap a small Ebay turbo on there, turn the fuel pump up and you'll see a considerable change in power and torque.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it but if it is a true diesel engine then it doesn't meter or control air flow. The amount of power and speed of the engine is completely based on how much fuel is being injected. Better air flow always helps, but if you want to make more power you need to figure out how to increase fuel delivery.
