I've never been a fan of Monique's standup comedy style. But even if I was, after I'd be pretty sick of hearing her complain for the past 12 fuggin' damn years. She has a diva complex

When she complained she wasn't getting offered the money Chris & Dave were getting from Netflix, imagine if Dave or Chris ever took up her attitude just bytching & complaining, I would be sick of them as well
Monique I really don't know what to say about her how am I going to respect her when she don't respect yourself I guess when she loss the weight she loss her mind no hard feelings
I think what’s disappointing is that although many of us were already side eyeing Mo’s way of doing business & habit of including the public in contract disputes we were still rooting for her and happy that she got the apology she felt like she deserved. To them turn around to do this only added fuel to the “she’s difficult to work with” fire.
And to think she wanted y’all to boycott Netflix for not giving her a show!😂 Monique is that family member who comes to the gathering and brings the drama, making everybody wanna leave early then complain that everyone’s against her🙄😂
The one l wouldn't invite, or pay 2 see, or boycott with her, l won't jump on that bandwagon , count me out, l will never be apart of her agenda, or follow.... too much anger.
Even if she felt it was personal, she could've made her point by outshining "the competition" on stage. She had the mic and an opportunity to solidify her position as a legend. But then she reverted back to "they just don't want me to win" storyline. It's exhausting at this point. You can wreck somebody who's done you wrong and keep it classy for the fans who came to show love.
Lecynniiiaaaa!!!...Babbbyyyy, you said that!💚...She could have put her best foot forward but she keeps putting that foot in her mouth. Just causing her more issues!
Well said. But, when you find out you aren't as funny as you thought you were, then you deflect by trying to destroy others. I am so over Monique and her toxic behavior.
@@darlenehopewell7814 You sound dumb. Her fight is with the promoters. If you cant see that than you are delusional. She uses Black women to further her agenda. It’s disgusting. Everyone has conflict. Its about how you handle it. She causes herself to be blacklisted

I saw Monique in February of this year, and Lunell was there as well and killed it! Monique was the headliner that night and came out and demeaned and degraded Oprah, Tyler Perry, Steve Harvey and all the rest of the people she has beef with. Her entire set was disturbing. And the fact that she expects an apology from the people she talks so horribly about is appalling. That “Hey my sweet babies” talk is 🗑 and will definitely lead to her demise.
She did the same thing several years ago when I went to her show in West Palm Beach. She was on stage crying. I would have left but my husband wanted to stay. I wouldn't go to another one of her shows if it was free.
I just saw the Babyface/Kem concert. Now, one would think Kem should go first being the younger of the two in age & experience, but Babyface opened & Kem was the headliner. If anyone has a right to fuss about clout, it would be Babyface. But, he graciously did a dynamite opening& Kem expressed his profound respect & admiration for Babyface, conceding that BF was his mentor. No drama. Just phenomenal entertainment. I’m weary of Monique. I’m usually down with the Girl Power thing, but, Monique is just extra. Monique, we’ve all seen your tail. Please stop showing it to us. Have several seats. Do some soul-searching. And stop playing this broken record. Even your most avid fans deserve better.
But Babyface knew his position beforehand which allowed him to be prepared regarding his set and time. Monique got hit with the ole bait and switch and that is not cool. As you know the headliner gets to have more time and bring more material. They (the promoters) waited the night of the event to tell Mo how DLH had a hissy fit so they were switching her. Which meant all the jokes and her flow had to be changed right then and there and that's some bullshit. She should have walked since they breached the contract.
@@jamesjackson4558 So, you believe the promoters? Why didn’t Monique confront DL? She just trusted the promoters’ word & went off on him without proof! I know this a far-fetched notion, but what if the promoters lied to avoid her wrath & threw DL under the bus? She should have been woman & professional enough to talk to him before denigrating him personally in front of the public. Some of those folks were his fans. The whole thing is one big ego trip. Just do what you came there to do & shut the f*** up! Monique likes to rant & whine & get everyone to feel sorry for her. I’m fresh outta sympathy for Monique. Too many people have wound up on her sh** list. It can’t all be someone else’s fault. Grow up and put your big girl panties on & quit acting like a petulant child! Luenell said what needed to be said. Its not the public’s fight. If you have a case, take it up in court and your mgmt. She continues to burn bridges. Every director, promoter, and producer/movie execs who were even thinking of working with her again definitely put that on pause.
I don't think she burned any bridges everything she said about Lee Daniel's Tyler perry and Oprah was facts Monique ain't going to let you mess over her I do think she should have taken it up with the promoter and management and DL didn't make the situation any better either
@@kokowalker8679 i agree what bridges did she burn? Working with shady promoters? I don't know if she burned bridges or not, but she did the same thing she's been doing for the past few years and that's put her business in the streets that should have been kept in the house.
If she had a problem with DL, she should have addressed it with him face to face when they were backstage, like an adult. Nobody paid to hear her rant, vent, and roast over whether she was supposed to be the headliner.
Has anybody came back n showed us where she lied on them nope everybody come back and apologize to her from what we see Tyler did Lee did and Steve did behind closed doors n she was right about the rest of them
My late father used to say, "There's a time and place for everything." Mo'Nique may be 100% right, but she handled it wrong. Now, she has no credibility, regardless of what went down. Every time you turn around, she's in another scrap with somebody. She's gotta look in the mirror and face the one constant in her problems.
If the promoter breached the contract, she should have had this conversation with her attorney. This just made her look tacky & emotional. It's good to stand up for yourself, but the manner in which you do it matters.
I agree, Monique shouldn't have brought DL into her fight, when DL didn't do it. Do your job and get your pay. Speak with a lawyer about it and not take it to the stage.
She didn't take it up with the promoter because she got paid. She want to maintain that business relationship even though they did her wrong. If she go after them she'll never get a bag from them again and they may tell other promoters not to do business with her. She took her anger out DL because he's not the one putting money in her pocket.
@@empathicstarseed8860 "she minds her own business". She puts us all in her business. I love to see her winning, & this just is not the way to get it done.
The problem is in her home. Since Monique married her “daddy”, her career has taken a turn. Her husband seems to be the person fueling those issues publicly.
I disagree......he seems more of her "Yes man".....if she talks to/about men the way she does, imagine how she talks to/with him behind closed doors ...she pays well to keep him around so it seems as if he'll do/say whatever she wants him to!
I remember some years back I was supposed to open for RodMan and the promoter added another comedian in the lineup between us and had me open the show I still got up there did my thing because at the end of the day it was a great set and the audience enjoyed all of us. And the outcome it just open more doors for me which was a blessing.
Yeah but y’all were upcoming comedians y’all names weren’t known for ppl to care about who goes first or last Tbh I wouldn’t want DL to close the show he’s not that funny to me he turned political he would’ve end the show on some politically correct bs and I could’ve just listen to his radio station for that you if I was there and he performed last I would’ve left during his set he ain’t that funny for me to be stuck in traffic
I still feel that Monique should learn to control her business in private. The stage is not the proper place. Trying to involve others in her anger with others is not professional. Enough is enough. Monique has more problems than who takes the stage first.I’m sad too keep watching this woman destroy herself.
I respectfully disagree. If she was a doctor in the surgery room or a judge on the stand I’d agree but she’s a comedian and comedians talk about their real life and things they go through personally
Thank you Ricky, for addressing this from the professional level. I didn't want to listen to random UA-cam gossip channels, because I never know how accurate the news is. Hello to everyone on the Ricky Smiley Show!! Yes Luenell, I totally agree with you. Just as an ordinary citizen that enjoys all of your comedy styles including Monique, I was disappointed that she would just be coming back and go in on DL Hughley like that. It really lacked class and the spirit of someone who God has granted another chance to receive what she should. It was just too much and another unjust moment of one black entertainer against another in the public and on a stage. smh
Thank you Luenell for your professional insight. That’s is appreciated because as a comedy fan most of us have no knowledge of what promoters do and I know nothing about entertainment behind the scenes biz. Just want to laugh from time to time plus chill.
I love Monique and DL so I hope they repair this thing. Monique is wounded and she needs healing. Forgiveness is what needs to do so she can move on. I've seen it first hand woman epically black women would be treated different and I even had to admit it. with that said black women have to handle things upfront vs on the back in like I most dudes do.
What she did should have been handle with the right ones that wrote the contract. She also supposedly squashed things with the other folks and brought it back up and call them out there names. Plus she also brought DL's wife in it. As a woman myself I get upset and have to say it but I'm always professional and aware of my surroundings. I promise you even with doing things the right way I get my point across. Believe that!!! I never had a problem speaking my mind.

Let’s be real, Monique blew it. This was her chance to separate herself from the negativity, reconnect with her fans, and get her paper straight, but she couldn’t do it. She’s stuck in the “angry black woman stereotype”. I like her, I was rooting for her. Sad…
I use to root for Monique because she’s from my town but Bruh!! Now, I hate to see her coming with her “My Babies, I love us for real” and her other antics. Her beef is with the promoter not DL. She reacted too fast. Now, I feel she needs to publicly apologize. I have a feeling her shady husband is behind this. He’s always putting a battery in her back then she is the one looking crazy and problematic, which results in her being jobless.
I'm surprised more people are not getting this about her husband who told her he wanted to be in an open marriage (I bring it up because Will and Jada catch hell for it and no one says anything about Mo's set up) She said he was the one to tell her to ask for the money to do the press junkets when the other actors did their own press junkets for Precious and he been fueling this Angry Black Woman tour that is not working out for her.
You are at the top of your game when you can instinctively compartmentalize reactions, like how Chris Rock quickly composed himself after the slap and continued on with the show. That is professionalism and respect for your craft and audience. Hashing out your backstage issues to a crowd who paid to be entertained is disrespectful and unprofessional in my opinion.
But it was fine when Rick James told everyone about the woman who didn’t know who he was backstage that he was indeed “Rick James bitch!” And everyone ate it up. Same with this situation put some respect on her name.

Luenell totally echoed what I've been saying. Mo! Stop turning your comedy audience into jury members. Black balled, yeah bring that to the people - Contract dispute, talk to the folks on the other end of the contract LIKE THE REST OF US DO.
DL haven't showed a CONTRACT, yet. He showed a DEAL MEMO, which is NOT a legal binding document/ contract. It's a proposal to someone to gain their services prior to signing a contract.

Like Luenell and Marvin said, it could have been a promoter thing but Monique did not have to let the audience in on what was going on behind to scenes. Monique had a great point, she been through enough of blackmail and disrespect, DL could have the the job what he was paid to do, what about him big ego, Monique got to stand up for herself!!
I really loved Rickey’s response where he was saying if he was told to go second to last, he would try to destroy the place so bad to where nobody would dare want to come after him!
I like how Lunell doesn't try to be messy and how she didn't really go in on anybody while making her points. What she stated on air, I know she would have had no problem saying to Monique's face. When I first saw the video clip of Monique talking to the audience, she seemed so toxic. I think she handled this situation wrong, but hopefully this will all end with two grown adults having a private conversation. No need to involve us any further.
I pretty much agree with Lunell and Rickey. This was likely two egos clashing since they both have enough respect to close on a show. Monique was just puffing her chest out when there wasn't any need. If I were DL, knowing how Monique can get with everything she's delt with over the past years, I would just let her have her way as long as the money and time on stage wasn't messed up. Certain people just aren't worth the trouble of engaging them to that point. And I don't say that to disrespect her or anything, it's just I've dealt with many people like her and have a certain way I act around them.
@@normandy2501 normally I would agree with you, but Monique said some things that went too far. Implying DL could be on the down low. Saying that his wife was sleeping with a coward. Definitely a burning your bridge moment, when it didn't have to be. According to several posts I’ve seen from those that attended the show, the folks in Detroit didn’t even know Monique was going to be in the show during the months leading up to it. Apparently, his name and not hers was on the tickets. DL apparently does this show every year.
Monique just implied that DL is on the down low, and in her next breath she talked about looking out for black woman. Well as a black woman Monique, you can’t talk about this man like that and then want his protection. She is to bitter, angry and mad, I just don’t like her🙅🏾♀️🙅🏾♀️

It’s time for Mo to start talking less and being more strategic with her issues for her career path forward. Sometimes its just better to “attack” a situation from a different angle than head on likes she’s been trying to do, which hasn’t worked for her in the past.

That’s the same thing she did on her trash Showtime special. Clearly she doesn’t have any new material.
She did the same thing several years ago when I went to her show in West Palm Beach. She was on stage crying. I would have left but my husband wanted to stay. I wouldn't go to another one of her shows if it was free.
I would not spend a dime on her one she is not funny and two she's embarrassing!
Especially for those that gave her an opportunity to make money. Shame on her!
She’s still going off on these people?
Perfectly stated
Good point and example. Babyface has always been a classy guy.

What alot of angry bitter women do when they mad at a man.. try to assassinate his character with homosexual insults
She’s been mad for such a long time. Not the time nor the place. She needs to stop before she looses her career altogether. Lunell is correct. People are getting fed up with Mo. she seems like she is losing it. If you are good at what you do. You will have nothing to worry about. First, last or in between. When you good, you good.
If that were true why did DL say he would leave it he were not the headliner. Also do contracts not mean anything?

We don't know who's right or wrong in these situations but Monique has a history of taking her grievances to the court of public opinion. She seems too intelligent to not comprehend how this translates into the confrontations she's always involved in & I don't recall her being this disruptive until her Daddy as she calls him came into the picture...

We really don’t know what was said backstage & DL may have said what Mo claimed he said. But as a black woman who has always hoped Mo could make that come back into entertainment after her public fiasco with “black Hollywood”, its surprising to me that she would use the same “tactic” to address this situation with DL that she used to address her previous issue that got her black balled for years. It’s time for Mo to start talking less and being more strategic with her issues for her career path forward. Sometimes its just better to “attack” a situation from a different angle than head on likes she’s been trying to do, which hasn’t worked for her in the past.
But the thing is Monique is all of us. You correct there was things Monique said he said to the promoters and others that he would walk if she headlined and that she wasn't Dave Chappelle he said alot and than his true feelings came out we he posted that precious picture and saying she was the problem. Gaslighting black women is why we will never get equal pay or get the respect we deserve. So she should lay down and take it so she can get a seat at the table?? Wow smh

Facts
WHAT U SAID LOL U ARE SOOOOO CORRECT
Monique has always been quick to jump on IG live to discuss bonnets and every other random topic but she hasn’t for this situation. She only posted “receipts “ after DL posted his. That is very telling. She knows that she is in the wrong and she can’t say that she can’t discuss it due to legal reasons because she’s ran her mouth so far. She’s quick to say that she’s standing up for black women but supported Roseanne after her racist comments about a black woman. Make it make sense.
My sentiments were thoroughly spoken through Lunell💯
Thank u LUNELL. Every time MONIQUE go thru it, she falls back on the "Black woman or Black people struggle".No Monique that was personal business that had nothing to do with US!!! Knock it off with the victimhood bullshit.
Mrs. Luenell, thank you so much for your wisdom and professionalism❤
Monique lost it a long time ago I wish her well I hope she gets help
This is so sad. This is why our children don’t see anything wrong what they do. Why can’t we get along 🥺🥺
Factz.
The truth! My sentiments exactly!!
if your kids is watching monique or dl stand up and have an interest in they're dispute there is already something wrong...not trying to be mean I just think people are making this bigger than what it needs to be. she's a comedian it was on stage it was funny and it was mean too. Chappelle can dog the industry and she can't because it's too personal for who? I don't know them personally and could care less and my kids sure dont.
Amen my Grandmother use to say right is right and wrong is wrong and was unprofessional and classless. There is a time and place for everything. Monique reminds me of a bucket of crabs is she sees one crab try to get ahead of her she pulls right back down in the bucket.
@@bendawsom1631 what do your kids watch, Love and Hip Hop?
When I first heard it, it sounded like promoters telling her one thing and telling DL Hughley another thing. This has been your friend for years, and you really went on stage and said that kind of shit about him and his family. The one thing about disagreements is that once the dust settles down, you hope you haven't said anything that you can't come back from. At this point, I'm over her. This is why people call her difficult, because of her inability to handle business correctly. You gotta stop thinking that everybody in life is going to treat you fair, because it's not going to happen. Luenell said it right, this is not OUR fight.
He invited her to come on the show ,that's why her name was not on the advertisement months ago like his name was.
💯
Lunell is right. If it doesn't affect your money, do your thing and go on about your business.
She was wrong and the anger was misplaced. Monique was still upset about the radio incident with DL and used it as a justification for roasting him there. Regardless of malice intent on DL’s part or not, Monique’s actions ultimately are indicative of her true character. She’s not a nice person
My $.02

Let’s keep this real Monique is the issue, the promoter erred not DL, she was nasty wicked and disrespectful. I watched her foolishness curse and drag that Man, then I watched his Grown Man response💯
Why do people say they should squash it. Only 1person was being foul on stage. She was disrespectful to his wife for no reason. That's not cute.
@@shapanther6065 you got that right, she said had in mind what what she was going to do before she got there. 👿 witch. And I’m being nice.
Thank you Ms. Lunell for being real and bringing other people into a situation that should have been brought to the promoter of the show is absolutely right. Just be happy glad that they asked you to be in the show. There is too much going on in world 🌍 to be angered about when you go on and like Marvin said as long you don't mess with my money it shouldn't matter when and where you go on the stage just have my money💰 bag right. Obviously Ms. Monique was more concerned about her spot on stage more than her money. Where are your morals and values and respect not only for yourself but for others. Why do people think they have to be in control of everything especially when it's not your place to take on that role. IJS
What puzzled me was her saying Detroit were her people and yet she turned around and said she hasn't been there in 20 years. Hopefully she takes the promoter to court cause she's probably not getting another gig with equal talent on the bill.
Well she didn't complain about NOT being paid so the most she can do is not work with that promoter again.
Her whole rant had me puzzled and as a Detroiter why she bring that trash here?

If there's a "signed" contract, she can take the "Signed" contract to her lawyer and settle it there. If she has that contract it does no good to show me or the world. Take it to the lawyer.

Her Husband , truly is guiding her wrong and she can’t even see it!!
I knew Luenell would tell truth💯
She one of the queens of comedy, but the simple fact that she took personal matters on stage to tell the public their business is how you destroy friendships. All she had to do was tell jokes anything out of that was family business. That’s why they say she difficult because she get all emotional and start bringing the public into behind the scene business. She needs to stop being controversial and just go out and handle her business she like to gossip publicly. She should have taken that up with the promoter and not attack her brother.
THIS 🙌🏾
@Basic Truth I believe it’s way more to it than monique said. Just because there was a public apology don’t mean much. It was just water under a bridge.. because this situation is now public we can’t just say oh they blackballing her when she seems to be doing it herself. She wanted us to cancel Netflix because her pockets were not lined. Had they given her what she wanted she would not have said nothing. She may be a legend but amongst black ppl not the broad spectrum.. queens of comedy was 20 years ago.. precious is hard to watch because it reminds me of my own mother. Even the cast if a Friday didn’t get paid like they thought with the first movie but they all except Chris tucker came back for the other two… it’s more than both sides are telling.
People expect more from both of them... Growth and maturity is everything
Thank you for posting this. I’m praying for Moniques healing. This is not healthy, we’ve all been done wrong in business from corporate America to McDonalds but we all don’t have the luxury of running to the public to garner support. This is not black womens fight, not our concern. Let the Michigan courts handle it. I hope DL and Monique are able to reconcile and put this behind them eventually. It’s so minor in the scheme of things.
Pray for Monique healing 🙏 i completely understand business can be nasty and unfair but when it brings that much pain then you have to step back and find a way to heal. She is a veteran both on stage and on film 🎥. Unfortunately she knows how the game works so when it pulls you down then you have to reset. Your peace is most important was hoping this would be her reboot 🙏 how they can
Hope they can get past this and move forward 🙏

Yes I think Monique needs prayers and some mental help. That look on her face when she ranting was frightening. She should have dealt with it privately with promoter and DL.
