How to make Iron Golem banner shield in Minecraft

Mojang finally added Banner Shields to Minecraft Bedrock Edition, today I wanted to show you how to make a cool iron golem face for your shields so you can show your friends in the 1.20 update! This also works for Minecraft Java Edition.

Regarding the change from banner to shield, is this something that is coded in, so if you have this exact pattern it detects "iron golem" and makes it look right on the shield? Or is it a coincidence that when it shrinks it down to the shield, it happens to change enough to look like the iron golem?
