    I appreciate Ford actually going for an affordable version of a utility vehicle. I’d even like them to go farther and do 2 door with a longer bed option. The very small trucks of the past are under appreciated and I hope this brings them back in some way. Japan has “Kei” vehicles and it would be really cool to see something like that here.

    This little truck will be a grand slam home run for Ford. I never would even consider a new car, im just a used car kind of guy. However the prices on used pick ups are just crazy, crazy enough for me to consider the Maverick. For the price it’s a crazy good deal, checks all of the boxes for someone like me who does not need a truck full time but appreciated an open bed often enough that this would work.
    I just hope they can make them with the chip shortage.

      CVTs mated to traditional combustion engines have had varying degrees of reliability, with most bordering on unreliable, but again Hybrid CVTs have actually been very reliable.

      @OhPhuckYou 2 роки тому +8

      @@chandlerthoma9173 Look up what a eCVT is. It's not what you think. Ford and Toyota eCVTs are proven time and time again to be more reliable than a conventional automatic. These use two motors and the engines power and blends them together with a planetary gear set. eCVTs also have always used MG1 (Motor generator 1) to operate reverse, and it works perfectly fine. They have absolutely nothing in common with a belt CVT like Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi CVTs use. They're dull to drive, but most people are not looking for driving dynamics in a Hybrid. They're looking for reliability and economy, a eCVT provides that better than any other option. If you want to geek out, check out Webber Automotive videos on a HF35 or Toyota Synergy Drive hybrid system. eCVTs are actually very fascinating.

    If they can keep the recalls to a minimum, preferably none, this little truck will be all over the roads. Why didn't someone think of this 10 years ago?

      I mean, the Ford Ranger used to be the compact pickup truck, but then it grew out of its own category and started competing with the 150 for some reason. TBH this is more of a return to form.

      Waiting a year is a good idea. There are things that can go wrong with a completely new model vehicle like this. There might be an engine/drive train/ electrical issue that hasn't had enough time to show itself and be fixed in the first year

      The FX pkg will be slightly firmer, but not harsh. The whole vehicle was designed to pull in people who never owned a truck before, so it will drive like a modern SUV.

    • @dedalliance1
      @dedalliance1 2 роки тому +1

      'Average car' is including 90k dollar BMW's and Audi's and 100k dollar F450's lol. There's a bunch of cars in the 20k's to mid 30k range. My mom's brand new 2017 Malibu Hybrid that gets 40+ mpg fully loaded with everything was like 33k dollars or something. I mean it's not a small truck but I'm just saying the 38k dollar 'average' vehicle price is just a marketing gimmick to get you excited.

    • @jimrobison114
      @jimrobison114 2 роки тому +1

      @@dedalliance1 Actually the average new vehicle sale in the US is more like 42K. Any average included both high and low priced vehicles. Nationwide 70% of vehicle sales are trucks and SUV's which raises the average price.

      It has a lot going for it. The 2.0 and 2.5 have been good engines. Turbo charged cars wear out faster when smaller than 1.8. The hybrid CVT had a reliable older brother, The CVT in the Ford 500 was durable. The AWD and 8sp worry me a bit, hopefully they learned from the Escape transmission nightmares.

      @@don2deliver 2023 will tell us. The quirks or lemon elements with new lines take two years to become something the dealers and mfg can't sweep under the carpet anymore.
      I'll never buy a brand new line as a new car or truck. Even with 10 yr 100k warranty it is a PIA and unsafe to drive a lemon.
