Alternate ending iron giant throws kent mansly at the missle Kent mansly noooooooo Both kent mansly and missle explode Everyone hooray General thanks to Hogarth and the iron giant
As the military is ordered to fall back and the missile is prepped to be launched, Hogarth (after regaining consciousness) brings the Giant back to his senses and realizes that they must show the military the Giant is no longer a threat. Meanwhile, Annie tells them not to fire the missile, as her son is still alive, and Dean directly explains to General Rogard that the Giant is friendly and is only retaliating as a result of the military’s actions. Ever defiant, Mansley’s still asserts that the Giant must be destroyed and tells Rogard that Dean’s claim is a trick to avoid the missile’s launching. However, the Giant arrives holding Hogarth in his hands to prove that he's not a threat, and upon realizing that Hogarth is still alive, Rogard orders his men to stand down. Rogard attempts to have the launch aborted for good and in return not to make the same mistake again, but Mansley on the other hand, still assuming the Giant is a threat to the town, refuses to stand down and upon seeing the Giant squint his eyes at him. Mansley still wants to bring down the Giant and be right about how he should be destroyed regardless of how friendly and peaceful he is, so Mansley quickly snatches the radio from Rogard, screaming to the Nautilus to launch the missile. Shocked and infuriated, Rogard informs Mansley that the missile is targeted to the Giant's current position, which is right in front of them. Trying to show Mansley how dumb his actions were he shouts the question "WHERE'S THE GIANT, MANSLEY?!". He looks behind him and realizes too little too late that the missile will destroy not only the Giant, but also Rockwell and its entire population when the missile re-enters Earth's atmosphere. Wishing to survive, Kent tells the General that they can duck and cover in a nearby fallout shelter for safety, but the angry General tells him there is no way to survive the blast and that they are all going to die for their country thanks to Mansley's foolishness. Finally humiliated in front of his fellow Americans, Mansley, refusing to take responsibility for his actions, snaps by renouncing his patriotism and, declaring he wants to live, attempts to escape in a military jeep after throwing the driver out in order to save himself and leave the entire town to its fate. However, the Giant stops him by blocking his path with one of his hands, allowing General Rogard and his soldiers to hold Kent, as he is presumably removed from his position permanently and is sent to prison for his crimes and treachery. Since the events of the film take place during The Cold War, Kent also could've ended up receiving a death sentence, as saying "Screw our country" counts as treason.
It’s unclear what happened to Mansley after he was arrested but it’s likely that he was permanently removed from his position as a government agent and was taken to prison for his crimes and treachery

@@DakariKingMykanconsidering he's technically part of the US military, he'd probably get a firing squad execution rather than life in prison. Insubordination, launching a nuke at American citizens, feeding false information to a superior officer.... Yeah he's not going to jail lol
I wonder what went through the heads of the people who sent him to earth? Did they think “we can’t invade earth, it’d be annoying to take if they took out one our best guns” or maybe “Something must be wrong, we haven’t heard back from our scout”
I think the idea is that the Giant and others of his kind were too powerful for the war they were fighting and blew up the planet they were on and the Giant was flung into space out of control until he crashed on Earth. He wasn't on a Scouting mission, it was totally random.
Something I would’ve added at the end of the scene: Dean: Explain yourself, Kent! Mansley: What are you talking about?! Dean: You know exactly what I’m talking about, the missile! What’s your excuse for nearly blowing us all to Kingdom come? Mansley: W-well, I-I…I… I had to do it! Didn’t you see what happened?! He narrowed his eyes at me, that’s a sign of hostility! Hogarth: He wasn’t hostile, you paranoid, red-scared son of a bitch! Annie: Hogarth, you’re too little to use that kind of language. (to Mansley) My son is right, though, Mr. Mansley. Is your paranoia your reason for nearly killing us all?! Dean: Exactly! Did you ever stop to think that maybe the Giant was narrowing his eyes at you, and **only** you? What kind of government agent are you, Kent, assuming that anything that’s not from this country or even this planet is a dangerous threat to be eliminated? Mansley: The kind that acts for the sake of humanity, that’s what! Besides, how the hell was I supposed to know I was the only one he ever saw as a threat?! I was just doing my job! Rogard: that’s enough. I’ll handle the rest of this myself. (to Mansley) Your paranoid actions nearly destroyed us all. You and I are going to have a long chat with the president, Mansley. And by the time he’s through with you, you’ll be lucky if you end up flipping burgers and mixing ice cream sodas at Johnny Rocket’s! Strangely enough, in my imagining of this movie, he actually does end up working as a fry cook.
Thank heavens that the General is willing to listen to Dean....and finally realizes what a moron Mantsley really is...."duck and cover"really, Mantsley?!!
Mansley has been making decisions for other people's lives that didn't affect him for his entire career; this time, the decision affected HIM and he had to deal with the fallout of it (literally). You can tell by how he wields his authority; as long as he isn't the one paying the price, he could care less.
I think the captain of the nautilus was kinda stupid, one second a calm guy is speaking another second a different guy is yelling launch the missile of mass destruction. That didn't need to be mansley it could have been a random person
Ok, how was he supposed to know that? It’s not like he has telekinesis and also, you’re forgetting the Nautilus got word that a rampaging giant is destroying a town. So why would they suddenly stop and question whose voice when they were given specific instructions?
@@armorpro573 Because Mansley's voice is not the same as General Rogard's. And Mansley doesn't have the authority to order a launch. In the military, especially under combat situations, discipline and order need to be observed. IRL, the skipper of the sub would have confirmed the order, since it was one to fire a nuke on home soil.
@@BPZ313 Like I said, there’s precious seconds to be taken into account. The sailors on board were given an order to wait for authorization and I doubt they’d just sit there and reconsider the voice. Even if it wasn’t the general’s because they don’t know Mansley’s not in control. For all they know, it could be a person with a similar rank. Regardless of that, this movie was still fun to warcj
I don’t think prison is where he will be going. Mansley would more than likely be given the death sentence. He disobeyed a direct order from his superior, launched a nuclear warhead on American soil without permission and put hundreds of lives at stake.
Gotta have respect for the general! He wasn’t hardheaded or power hungry like most would expect. He was willing to listen to reason and put a stop to all the craziness before it got any worse!! Full respect! 🫡

What could have been even good is his jail sentence.
@@cooldude3118 He'd get life imprisonment, that's for sure.
@@DakariKingMykanconsidering he's technically part of the US military, he'd probably get a firing squad execution rather than life in prison. Insubordination, launching a nuke at American citizens, feeding false information to a superior officer....
Yeah he's not going to jail lol
@@fangsabre I thought he was FBI
I wonder what went through the heads of the people who sent him to earth? Did they think “we can’t invade earth, it’d be annoying to take if they took out one our best guns” or maybe “Something must be wrong, we haven’t heard back from our scout”
I think the idea is that the Giant and others of his kind were too powerful for the war they were fighting and blew up the planet they were on and the Giant was flung into space out of control until he crashed on Earth. He wasn't on a Scouting mission, it was totally random.
Giant:
Let's play cat and mouse...
(Catches Mansley's car)
I win.
Something I would’ve added at the end of the scene:
Dean: Explain yourself, Kent!
1:39 USS Nautilus launched the nuclear missile
John Mahoney was great at VA. Hopefully I have someone who can match up his Voice. RIP

NNNNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!
Kent really screwed this up big time

Series X about to show PS5 it’s true Power like…
Guy was literally willing to nuke himself and a small town to kill the giant.
1:37 zelensky when he sees 2 innocent polish farmers (Russian spies) near his border
Admittedly that made me laugh
When rookie cops want an excuse to shoot, so they make up an excuse to do it.
that missile is targeted to the giants current position, WHERE’S THE GIANT MANSLEY?!?!?
1:40 Mansley was reckless to do this
First of all don’t put ads
1:37
"That missile is targeted to the Giant's current position! Where's the Giant, Mansley?!"
"Ooooh, we can duck and cover. There's a fallout shelter right there-"
“There’s no way to survive this YOU IDIOT!!!”
“There’s no way surviving it you IDIOT!
2:13-2:15-2:16-2:17
Who is here after the Helldivers meme lol
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE! 🤦🏾♀️
2:15 Have fun in prison.
I don’t think prison is where he will be going. Mansley would more than likely be given the death sentence. He disobeyed a direct order from his superior, launched a nuclear warhead on American soil without permission and put hundreds of lives at stake.
@@ulfberht4431 And during the Cold War, which would have meant a death sentence.
Gotta have respect for the general! He wasn’t hardheaded or power hungry like most would expect. He was willing to listen to reason and put a stop to all the craziness before it got any worse!! Full respect! 🫡
