- Be aware of the English recruiters in China. Most of them don't have your best interest at heart.

Besties, PLEASE be careful of the recruiters. Most of them are trying to make money. They don't really care about your well-being. Look out for yourself. Ask questions. Turn down offers if something feels off.
I hope this helps. ♥
PS. I promise I can read. 👀😂
Your transparency about the downsides of this process is most helpful and refreshing. It is really helping me be smart with my planning and negotiations. Thank you 🙏🏾
You're welcome. 😊
This thing of “loving” kids I’m not sure too😂😂😂😂 I just believe in doing my best and then go home.
LMAO! SAME! 👀😂
Useful information. Thank you for equipping us with the proper knowledge. Having you on the other side, sharing this points is so wonderful. Thanks for all of your effort Nomfundo.
You're so welcome. Always gonna look out for you guys. ♥
Very useful information here glad I watched your video but I ended up signing with a school where their probation is not 2 but 3 MONTHS.
I only agreed to this since the job is good, lots of benefits and my pay isn't decreased during probation.
Its too late to back down since I've already applied for the visa, but now I'm worried if after all this hassle they don't like me and send me back after the 3 months😭!
But I had bad experiences with recruiters trying to make me sign with agencies where I had no idea where the school would even be! And these people are soo persistent its insane. Another school didn't even have a HR department and my interview was done by some supervisor in the middle of their class, it was insane.
I think at the end of the day we should also take it upon ourselves to try to do as much research as possible on the school we will be working at and stay informed by watching other ESL content creators like you!
Let's look on the bright side. You got the job! A big congratulations to you. Crossing my fingers everything goes as planned.
I hope everyone reads your comment so they know what other red flags to look out for. I can't believe some of the interview processes were like that. That's insane.
nice work! How long is the probation period in China?
Chinese law regulates the duration of the probation period. The given statutory periods are the maximum periods allowed:
Contracts of less then 3 months No probation period
More then 3 months, but maximum 1 year 1-month probation period
More than 1 year but less than 3 years 2-month probation period for contracts
More than 3 years and open-ended contracts 6-month probation period
the recruiters not actually posting a specific job drives me nuts. You can get stuck in an unending loops or signing up on recruitment websites without applying for a real position.
This video is LOADED !!wholesome and very very helpful
Even one month probation is risky😂 I have seen and heard of people been turn back on day one.

Hi! I’m in China now looking for a teaching gig, they always do it with the salary, natives get more, always…
That's a given...
What about a a recruiter who text you to contact him to discuss if you are interested to work in various schools.
How did they get your contact? context...
👌😁great info.. enjoy ur videos.. but tell me is the tax bad that side or is it reasonable?.
Thank you. 😊
I think tax is reasonable here.
Hey. Thank you so much for this ❤️
May I ask which website I can get these adverts. Also, do I pay the recruiter or the school does? If it does will they decuct that money from my salary?
Thank you ❤️
You're welcome. ♥
I got the ads from WeChat. I think the recruiter's payment is usually handled by the school but from your salary.
check this video about job advertisement sites and recruitment and so forth: ua-cam.com/video/bRzzPjUt57s/v-deo.html
Thank you for the info.
How do I contact you please?
You're welcome. You can just ask here if you still have more questions.
Hi thanks for this info can I please ask what is a Homeroom teacher?
Though not my place to say but my own understanding is a Homeroom teacher is one who is a full time teacher and spends most of the time with the students, liaise with parents etc while an ESL teacher on the other hand, just has lessons and leaves the classroom after their lessons are finished…
@@TerryFreak389 oh okay thank you so much for the clarity
Hi, Wendy. It's just another word for 'class teacher'. You handle the classes admin + communicate with parents regularly + your lessons. That's why they generally get paid more.
@@TerryFreak389 Not necessarily correct. A homeroom teacher is still an ESL teacher (or any subject, really) with more admin responsibilities as you've mentioned. Both can be full-time. I work office hours just like homeroom teachers. I just don't deal with admin work outside of the one that's related to my lessons.
where do you get these ads from? from an App?
On WeChat.
Hey where did u get those job posts
On WeChat.
This was so eye opening Nomfundo thank you

I thought ESL training centers are illegal?
Not illegal. There’s just new regulations for training centers.
