- Every time I make this sauce to use on my Deconstructed Cabbage Roll recipe (link below), Brian asks me to make a lot of it and can it. So today I am planning to make the recipe and decided to do as he has asked.
Ingredients:
7 1/2 pints of tomato sauce
7 oz can of tomato paste
3 1/2 tsp dehydrated minced garlic
5 1/4 tsp celery salt
7 tsp white vinegar (I used apple cider vinegar with the mother)
3/4 to 1 cup of brown sugar (I used Sucanat)
7 tsp onion powder
5 Tbsp Paprika (I used smoked paprika)

Sorry about that. My original recipe doesn’t call for it in such a small amount. I used a 7 oz (I think) jar of tomato paste. I also sometimes use tomato powder if I am making a single batch and just need a little. I am going to change the ingredients list now!

I would love to make this but only a jar at a time. Can you share your recipe if you are making a jar at a time? How long does it last in the fridge?
While cooking most things, I think if you have the ingredients correct… you will be good making it in any amount. Im not always so strict following recipes…keep tasting as you go and you will be good 😊👍 just my opinion
OK is steam canning the same as water bath canning? I do pressure can and water bath can but do not have a steam canner.
Steam canning can be used in place of water bath canning - using a whole lot less water, and a whole lot less time! Some steam canners can only be used that way. The one I use will allow me to either steam can, water bath can, or use as a stock pot. In my opinion it is well worth the money!
