It has been over 30 years since I touched a brush. I am now revisiting watercolour as "retirement activity/therapy" and have been searching for inspiration among the zillions of YT videos - something that grabbed me. This is IT! THANK YOU!

Angela, I tried ur abstract, channeling painting skill today by imitating this video today and found great happiness in doing it. The fun part of watercolor stands out this time! Really really love it! Thank you for channeling me to happiness!

I've been experiencing a creative block for the past few weeks, and this video helped to remind me that it's okay just to play around with paint and have fun and not overthink it. Thank you so much!

I am in awe. This is stunning and it....is.....just....an...experiment. Just can't believe how much you taught in such a little painting and in such a short time. Off to go play. THANK-YOU

This was great! I loved how you made the tree trunks with some creative play with a pallet knife! The white line how it catches your eye, and most of all how to have fun with experimenting and seeing what happens! Thanks!

Thanks so much - loved the fact that you started with one of the darkest watercolours which would normally be a no no. A great experiment and can't wait to try

Angela, I love your intuitiveness when it comes to painting!... your "no fear" approach to playing is inspirational... you can sell that for big money!! 😉

I like working with Brusho but the way it behaves is like trying to teach a cat to fetch or do something on command. I think that Brusho Crystals may not be for everyone but that being said it is fun to play and see how it reacts with different colors and papers. I have used them on Yupo with great success as I paint cards and bookmarks to sell with other things I paint. I will caution that you should probably spray it with a fixative to set it especially if you are using Yupo. I found that even though your ground is dry, if you drop water on your piece it can sometimes reactivate and your piece can be changed from what you were intending. My advice is try it, play with it and have fun with it! Happy painting! 🎨🙃🎨🙃🎨🙃

Thank you Angela, I loved this video very much. I don’t have Brushos but I have some Lindy’s magical shakers, that should do the job as well. As you say, we have to put the fear away and try, try, try different approaches and medias.

Angela, this was an especially inspirational video! It is absolutely beautiful! That Payne’s Gray really separated beautifully. I’m going to buy some Brusho and give it a try. Thanks for another great lesson. Hope you’re enjoying your vacation.

What fun! The only thing I don't understand is why the "horizon line" is smack dab in the middle....major no no in composition I thought. I love the free and playful attitude and the interesting results!

I thought brusho was quite fugitive, or at least that the manufacturers weren’t very transparent (watercolour pun)!) with the information on this? I’m happy to work around more fugitive pigments (dyes?) but I don’t like not knowing if they will last into the future, even a few scant years? This is great piece you did, especially lovely. It deserves a long life! Beautiful.

Would an etching tool make a difference in how the tree trunks appear on “rough” paper?

when the pigment dries a little more; the palette knife will push the pigment out of the way leaving lighter value streaks (I'm learning those fancy terms from Angela!) LOL
