    "I did X and X.
    It looked really bad."
    that cracked me up XD I think creators don't show the learning-as-you-go process often enough😁 It is just as important to know/learn how to fix mistakes as it is to learn to make the finished product! Thanks for including that!😁

      yes, this was you can see the actual process instead of just the end result and no mistakes!

    As an advice, do not EVER make your sword core out of bamboo if you are planing on giving a hard treatment on combat. It's cheap, easy to get and light, but if it breaks the splints would pierce through the foam and could make really nasty damage to the flesh.
    Beside that, cool finish, well explained.

    finally a way to make a softer foam sword all i see is people using thick eva foam and i tried it but it makes the sword way too hard for the larp events i go to but a 2mm eva foam outer layer is a genius solution to that

      Thanks! Something I found more recently is that upholstry foam is even softer and much more durable than a pool noodle or insulation foam. That's what I would now recommend most.
      Also, for the core I would recommend using a PEX pipe as it's light and more flexible than PVC so it softens the impact if you get hit.

    Sick, you should try carving a pummel of a block of foam next time. Extra style points. Pool noodle is a great idea, super helpful. :D

      Sure, I tought about doing a bigger pummel but I unfortunately didn't have time. Thanks for the comment! :)

    You could open a Blacksmiths at a larp and make larp swords for people 👍

    You made a chopper blade so the center of gravity is going to be a bit more forward than a “normal” sword

    How did you do the tip of the blade?
    Wasn't supposed to be a hole in there?

    • @TristanMaker
      @TristanMaker  2 роки тому +2

      I used an excess piece of the pool noodle to plug the hole. I used hotglue to keep it in place

    Use rattan not bamboo! If you hit hard enough to break the bamboo it will splinter and shatter rattan looks and grows like bamboo but is solid! And just as lite weight
