    I like the vibes of Kuya Benjie from the food stall (aka carinderia). His english is good enough to at least tell you about the food.
    Suman (that sticky rice wrapped in coconut leaves) has variations. My favorite is the one made from kamoteng kahoy (cassave) filled with either sweet ube or sweet stuff.

    Ali.. a word of advice.. try learning a few Phillipino's greetings.. it will go a very long way.. (some of those vendor looked at you with a sense of suspicious).. those fruit and veg vendor are very nice people but they will be even nicer if you make the effort to greet them in their language.. this apply to all the countries and cultures of your forthcoming destinations..

      Can't agree more I been to Ph 4 times My Tagalog now is full sentences compared to my first time with the very basics I noticed the vendors too But overall they are more curious about where he is from Not looking like an American Even if he adds the word "po" with English is good Better is Kumasta Po Best is Magandang umaga sa iyo ! Good morning to you ! people where i live You would not be sticking a camera in their faces before they start either asking why Or down right tell you to stop And go somewhere else The same respect should be given to these people They do infact know you are there to throw them on youtube and get paid without asking them ..

      The vendor kinda dont know how to express herself that's why she can't communicate that well. But believe me Filipinos are very friendly and adorable people. When you came into some they call "depress area" don't be discourage.. It's natural for them to look at you as a stranger with or without good intention.

    man I laugh so hard when you say dehydrated fish at 20:37. ahahahaha
    its a local delicacy here in philippine which we call "tuyo" or in english " dried fish". its a fish that seasoned with salts and was being dried under the sun.
    it taste somehow salty but also some deeper taste depending on the fished used. its one of our favorite food for breakfast partnered with "spicy vinegar" and some tomatoes and eggs.
    definitely you should try it sometime.

    In addition to the accent, and the beautiful Filipino languages, people that love talking about the slums of Philippines, but another reason why I'll always go Philippines over Thailand, is how raw Philippines is, Thailand doesnt seem to have anything that seems hood, but Philippines has that if I choose to go see it, and be around that; it is something that youll get in Philippines, Columbia, Brazil, Venezuela, Jamaica, etc..., but as far as Asia is concerned, Philippines is about the only place I can think of that has legit hoods, maybe India also, that have real people with real soul; just nice common people, feels more like home to me.

    • @smoothie4448
      @smoothie4448 2 роки тому

      Actually, every major city should get rid of the slummy areas, or what you’re referring to as "hoods". The government has a project to get rid of that slummy "hood", and some of those housing projects are called "Tondominium" and "Binondominium". Sooner or later, all those hoods will be gone, and I’m more thankful since foreign media won’t use Philippines for their poverty propaganda again.

      @gangstagummybear3432 2 роки тому

      @@smoothie4448 When ghettos are gone, that will be the sign of bad times, that will most likely mean that you will have an elysium type situation in which, all those that can afford to live, or have accepted their chip will have access to the elysium special access type place, and everyone else that is poor or didnt comply will be left to rot in the disease filled, pollution filled deadzone that will be left behind, Philippines isnt alone in being spotlighted by median an the like, we have several locations in the United States that are also, it is all over the world, you Filipinos need to stop acting as if you are the only one going through stuff all the time, truly it is the THailand foreigner fans that completely bloat the negative about the country anyway, I would blame them for how people look at the country more than the media or any slums.

    It's safe to try street food as long as you have a strong immune system but for those who have a sensitive stomach that can cause gastroenteritis. Highly suggest to wash all the items like fruits, veggie before eating and sometimes homemade iced drinks can cause diarrhea.
    The noodles called Bihon-Canton pancit, the glass tiny is the bihon, the thicker one is the canton. Duhat is healthy local fruit of the Philippines. The sales lady said 1/4 kilos is PHP50, the street game is local version of billiard called "Pool billiard" Quiapo and Divisoria markets are best known for low/cheap prices or the bargain stuff from fruits, meat, clothes etc.
    The dehydrated fish is called Tuyo best for breakfast with tomato, sunnyside-up egg, and garlic rice. 👏🏻🥳

    Ali that vegetable in TINOLA that what you call SAYOTE - a tropical fruit shaped like a pear, with green skin and white flesh, that is usually cooked and eaten as a vegetable: Market tables were piled high with cabbages, kohlrabi, and chayote. Slice and stir-fry a chayote and an onion.

    Hi Ali, Duhat is my favorite fruit in our childhood days. Specially after playing, we climb the tree, picked duhat, put in the bowl, sprinkled with a little salt cover and shake it.

    In 4:35... those are we called 'kakanin' ... most of them are made of sweetened sticky rice. That's been part of my younger days. My nanay (mother) always bring 'pasalubong' (presents) everytime she came from work. Either the 'kakanin' or fruits like that 'duhat'

    Hello Ali yes I agree of those comments about the fruits when you buy them at fruits stand on the streets,you should ask them to wash them before eating it because you don't know where they come from and how they handle them!you might get sick from not washing it before eating!remember the illnesses bacteria

    Haha there was a confusion there. She was saying for 1/4 of Duhat you need to pay 50 pesos. That is Pancit Miki Bihon. The spaghetti looking noodle is an egg noodle. :) Yeah, put calamansi and pepper. Bagoong is permented fish and in Tinola that is Sayote or Chayote (Sechium edule), also known as mirliton and choko

    Duhat in Tagalog dialect and Java plum in english. Sometimes if is not yet in season or not ripe yet and still sour in taste we eat with a little salt or sprinkle of salt.
