Speaking of Tibetan dishes, how can we forget yak meat, butter tea and tsampas? After saying goodbye to Lu, we went to the Jidi Village Pasture of Shangri-La. Besides yaks and goats, this place is also famous for its fragrance tsampa and delicious butter tea.
Between March to September, the elders usually herd the cattle in the pasture. They will collect milk and make butter daily. It's my first time seeing how the butter is made. I also had a try at the freshest butter tea. I bought a butter cake and some yak before leaving. The old man also gave me some hulless barley powder as a gift. I made some real Tibetan dishes at home. Besides butter tea and tsampa, I also made a Tibetan yak hot pot and some dried yak meat. It's very delicious.

Description: On the topic of tibetan food, how can we skip out on yak beef, buttered tea and zanba? After saying goodbye to Lurong, I went to the grazing fields of a shangri-la village. Besides raising cows and sheep, there's also aromatic zanbas and sweet buttered tea. The village elders let the cows graze from march to september and collect milk to make butter everyday. This was the first time I saw the butter-making process in action, and I got to taste the freshest buttered tea. I bought a block of butter and some yak from the elders, he also gave me some barley flour. When I got home I made an authentic meal. Aside from the buttered tea and the zanbas, I made a hotpot and yak jerky, which were both delicious too!

what I like the most in this video is not the cooking.. that's 2nd only, I like the family the most, such loving family, eating all together. spending time together, laughing and enjoying the moment.
You can tell how much grandma loves Dawag by how often she gives him food, and the gentle looks she gives him. It really warms my heart because especially in China a lot of the older generations don’t really think of animals as pets rather than tools. So to see her treat Dawag as a pet and love on him makes me happy.

Factory-farmed dairy is unhealthy. The cows are up to their eyeballs in steroids and antibiotics, to keep them alive in that unnatural environment. Then the milk is ultra pasteurized, which destroys the enzymes that help the human body to digest cow's milk. But if you can get fresh dairy from a local, healthy, grass-fed cow, dairy is a wonder-food!

Butter tea is also one of the traditional tea in our Sikkim cuz we are also known as southern Tibetan

No you are not, Sikkim is wetland south of Himalayas, true tibet is Ladakh, and northern Himachal (Zanskar etc), and this is not even Tibet, the Chinese government just merged this region with Tibet, but the people are vastly different. I am a Tibetan.
