The drop at the end of the fox hole is a fun one too! This mountain really is an amazing mountain, I did my due diligence by sending a kind email to both addresses as well. Many memories were made between my son and friends.
just got in to MTB in the fall of 2023 ...windham was the first bike park i went to really liked it there...i hope they open...i will go back...i found Thunder and i like it there ... it's about the same drive
I went there the closing weekend for the first time. After hearing that a winter season pass is going to be close to $2,000 i dont think theyll last a year. Maybe theyll bring the mtb park once they lose their ass on everything else
Just a bummer for the DH community in general. We rode there once or twice a season, but we can spend our money in better places....Like Thunder for sure!!
I wonder if turning it into a e-bike park would work better. There would be no need for lift access, this would save a lot in expenses which would allow the park to charge much less. It would be the first e-bike specific park in the north east so it would stand out in that regard. I'm just trying to think of something different to help stand out from the other bike parks like Thunder, Creek, Blue and Powder. To continue as a lift service bike park, a lot of money would have to go into building more trails and improving the existing trails to help them compete against the other bike parks, "maybe". Starting something different, like a e-bike park, would help them stand out right away. Can also open them up to host more Enduro races for both e-mtbs and regular bikes as they would have to build a few nice climbing trails to the top. 🤷♂
@@pedalingdownhill7640 I mean there are plenty of pay to ride bike parks where you have to pay to pedal up the fire road. But I don't see the point. The lifts are already there. The staffing to run the lift is probably insignificant next to the staffing to maintain the trails.
Windham has some great challenging trails, but at the same is so much better for beginners learning to ride than Mountain Creek. I love creek, but I feel like even the green trails there are so hard for newb mtb’ers to learn on. I would never take my son there to learn bc it’s just so fast and intense. At windham Kaaterskill cruise is really nice and mellow for new riders while wilderness roll and Batavia skill are great for progression, while also having enough tech and jumps for more experienced riders. Really hope they don’t close… it would be such an enormous hit to DH MTB in the NYC area.
As much as I hate to see any bike park go, I do get it...these old NY bike parks have a tough time staying open. Neither Windham or White face had exceptionally good trails like a Highlands or Mountain creek caliber places, and the geographical location is out of the way compared to your down south and east coast parks. I went to Windham once and the place was a ghost town, and the trails didn't impress. Local hospitality was kinda slim as well. I think thats kind of the story of this area of the country in general, people are leaving for warmer climates.
I can say our experience has been a bit different, and I for one like the difference in the trail offerings. Plenty of fun drops, jumps, and side hits if your on the look out. I hope it can be preserved as it's a nice change of pace.
The only concern is that it needs to get some sort of food like maybe a food truck or something because I’m starving and don’t want a protein bar after a big day of riding
Hate to see any park close but unless the trails magically get better overnight it's probably a losing battle. Creek takes the NYC and North Jersey Audience. Thunder takes central NY, Western Mass, and CT. I've ridden there, and while the long runs and fast lift are nice, I just don't think the trails are interesting enough to warrant the drive when creek and thunder exist.
Your not completely wrong when it comes to the majority of riders, and that probably is why. It's bummer though for the locals. I'm with you, don't wanna see any close as they all have something to offer.
@@pedalingdownhill7640 agreed. I feel like NY state riders as a whole keep getting the short end of the stick. A lot of potential there and the local communities could definitely use the financial boost that becoming a riding destination gives.
The mountain would benefit from more trails for sure. There are lots of ways to grow it here, though. First issue is that there aren’t enough beginner runs to get started and the one that is accessible is long and isn’t visible from the base area. People get intimidated and either don’t try or don’t come back. Running a a second lift for beginners (D lift) has been cost-prohibitive but now they are going to run it for the new mid-mountain restaurant and it’s a perfect opportunity to add beginner terrain. A flow trail from there would be amazing for getting people to try the sport and progress some. There is a big second home community here, including from one of the largest ski race programs in the northeast. If there was more of a beginner option / coaching / some marketing momentum, more people/families would come up during the summer for the bike park. Kids mountain biking camps are already very popular here.
@@MaxNoy If they could focus on putting in good beginner trails it probably would make them more competitive with Creek. Creek does not have much for beginners. The lower sections of their one beginner trail might rate as a blue at other parks.
Windham has potential, but the maintenance isn't nearly as good as Thunder. Sounds like even if they don't close in the near future, the new owner doesn't have the commitment to make improvements, or the foresight to succeed long term.

Thanks! 🙏
That place has so much potential. I hope they make it. It just needs more work to make it more of a destination.
🤙❤️
They added extra trails last year it was a very good addition
Went to this park for the first time earlier this year and it's a solid park...3 miles of jumps! SAVE WINDHAM BIKE PARK!
Thanks for the support, share it anywhere you think it'll help!
Save Windham Bike Park!!!
Will definitely go there soon and let them know to never close this wonderful place.
🤞
Thanks brother...we here at Windham worked so hard and continue to do so everyday! Don't let this passion we have slip away! Support MTB!!
We will be back for another round this year to film more! Hopefully it helps, even though it's a small channel.

I've only visited Windham, but never rode. Would love to. Enjoyed the video and colors are crisp 👌
Sorry to hear of the closing, Never been there. I heard the owners want to make an exclusive resort. Good luck to them. Thunder all the way baby!

Thank you for doing the video!
Going again once more tmr. It’s so sick i hope it stays open

Not a bad idea, but as a non ebike owner I can't get behind it myself😆

It's some killer tech man
