    We are working on the next few country videos however literally the DAY after we filmed this, the Venezuela gatherings and Juan Guaidó movements began. After the situation clears up a little bit and more information comes out we would like to do a follow up video explaining the current state of affairs. I will have my Venezuelan friend who has family in Venezuela helping me out as well. Stay tuned!

Fun fact, "pololo" is a word from mapudungun, the mapuche language, and it refers to a species of fly, so I guess it was born from mothers to lock the boyfriend of their respective daughters, and it evolved to being used by the whole country, not just the mapuche territories

    In my Brazilian perspective, Uruguay is often considered something between Brazil and Argentina. This whole Argentina's Canada thing is also a way to say they share many stereotypes, but not the unpopularity of the neighbour, like Canada. I can see Argentina as being Canada of Brazil as well, but not in the same way Uruguay is Canada of Argentina, but because they are a bit like us, but more European, more liberal, but not always that liberal (Uruguay though is fairly known for being very liberal), more sparsely populated, live in a colder place, and the stereotypical images we have of them are either living in a huge charming cold city, riding horses while wearing hats in a cold environment, or at a Stadium, playing their national sport, or watching it passionately, which is my impression on how Americans describe Canadians.

Uruguay and Argentina share language, origins, traditions, accents, folklore. etc. Sometimes they get confused among themselves and do not feel like foreigners being in the other country. Also Greenland, perhaps, though they aren’t exactly “Nordic” or “Scandinavian” anymore, given most of their population is indigenous peoples.

    Aww man Barby, it's too bad that you had to treat Guyana and Suriname as the same country, especially culturally (because ok, granted, physically they're kind of the same). Suriname is way more diverse ethnically, e.g. they have the highest percentage of Indonesians in both South America and the Caribbean. There's more interesting stuff to get into. I won't do that right now. It's just a bummer that you took these countries, which are already relatively unknown, and then crushed the chance to highlight something cool about them.

    • @AB-sm1qf
      @AB-sm1qf 2 роки тому

      I think it’s because the conquest of the other nations was so much harder and epic compared to the Caribbean. You can kinda “rank” the standing of the Latino nations to each other by how hard of a struggle or troubled their histories are. In this case, the Caribbean nations arguably have equally as complicated histories as Brazil just with less land wealth and this being the reason why they’re mostly ignored. Most of the Latin nations get ignored arguably enough, with the Caribbean’s being sort of the gateway representation for the Latin continent since they’re the most well traveled IMO outside of the Mexicans and Brazilians. So it’s not that they’re ignored so much that they keep to themselves. Also, the only people who tend to forget history started in the Caribbean tend to be the Argentinians, who are low key infamous for thinking they’re the Nords of Latin America. If it makes you feel better, all the other countries and ethnicities are sort of embarrassed of them for this rather than feel intimidated. The other ones are proud of their complex histories whereas Argentina is sort of recognized as that peroxide brunette.
