So this is where old locos go to be restored as apposed to rot & die. Interesting insight to engine shed works from years gone by. Obviously lots of work to do on some nice old locos. Thanks for posting.
Great video Steve, always a great place to visit with different Loco's in for repair and services, looks like they were getting ready for the Barrow Hill live event this weekend.
Paul Cartlidge thanks Paul, yes I think a lot of the locos had been moved out of the shed due to a music event the previous weekend, so putting them back ready for the Live event. Cheers, Steve.
Just happened to stumble across this video. Wow I've been to barrow hill a few times in the past. Should go more often as I'm only about 5 miles from it . Very interesting video.
Steve West Mids Rail hello Steve, thanks for watching and your comment. It's a great place to spend a few hours at the weekend with the variety on offer.
Excellent video Steve, what a great collection of loco's they have there, nice to see 89001 I never saw her in the flesh so to speak, thanks for sharing, it's a like, cheers...Bill
An amazing variety of vintage traction Steve and expertly captured too. Although some locos looked in serious need of attention, some of them looked in pretty good nick, the DRS 37 and 20 looked like they had just arrived, are they no longer part of the DRS stable? I also wondered if this depot is a holding shed for locos to be restored by their owners for an agreed rental. The NRM steam locos and the GW prairie 5164 were interesting locos; is there any intention to put them back into steam? Great stuff mate! Ken
Ken Browne hello Ken, yes storage, restoration, maintenance etc with a few different railway groups operating out of there. Always a good place to visit at the weekend with plenty of variety on show. Cheers, Steve.
