Remember on your waitlist opt-in page the goal is to get people on the waitlist, not to sell the book. Once you get subscribers on your waitlist, then you can use your emails to sell the book.
You can give a brief description of the product and what result it provides on the waitlist. Then in your promotional period (sales pages, emails, other marketing materials, etc) during the launch period go in more detail. You can have an about page but people will make a decision based on the info on the about page.
