Thankyou so much for this wonderful video, love the way you break things down and move through each section slowly. also love the additional comments at the end, ie The French expression - play from the heart. It inspires us to play more musically rather than just technically. I am working on that but I some how struggle to commit things to memory anyway I'll keep working on it. Again thank you.
Thank you for your lessons. I’m getting my first cello for my 33rd birthday in just 4 days and I’ve been immersing myself in your videos in preparation.
Great Movie! If anyone has not seen it, please watch it on a chilly fall day. It is an accurate historical dramatic movie. It's Awesome! You will love it 💟 Great, Beautiful playing and teaching Jonathan 👍 Bravo 🎻🎻🎻
If it may help anyone, in regards to the tonality to this piece of music. On the first note of every bar i place an accent on that note with a fade away over the bar! I found this helps to focus on the rhythm as well as giving it some depth. The piece is very similar to an Irish “REEL” and normally when playing those the accent is on the first note of every section. Hope this addition helps.
Hello Jonathan. Can you post a link to that unknown object you used in one of your videos which you used to tune your cello tunes ? I would greatly appreciate it . Keep up the great work .
Jonathan Humphries , the video in which you showed how to tune the cello. The object I'm talking about is the cello tuner. An electric one that showed the note as you play the cello string .
Yes! Download MuseScore (free) and then the .mscz file. You can make individual parts with your own markings and create your own pdf. All free, all your choice!
Jonathan Humphries Thanks Jonathan I eventually managed to get it from there. What i really like about this video is when you mentioned knowing things by heart. I personally dont think enough teachers encourage learnt music. I believe very strongly in knowing things by memory as it really the only way you can perfect something. The better you know it the more you can focus on the mistakes. Good to see. Thanks for your posts.
Yes, another good idea. I need to re-film and just completely attack using the thumb, and adding thumb technique below T1 is a possibility. Thanks, Mister Doctor!
Yes, the CCO is a good choice for a beginner. There will be upgrades to the parts in the future, but the ebony fingerboar dad pegs make the CCo-500 a sound choice. Thank you so much Mr. Jonathan. Now I will be on my way to become a better Cello player thanks to you and your help and lessons. You are the best !
The first detail you want to get correct is.. this piece of music was written by Dougie Maclean, Scottish singer songwriter fiddler and composer
This videos are a great supplement to my cello studies. Thank you so much!

Make a video on your cello life and the best lessons you've received over time like a little video memoir as a musician
You give some great video suggestions, like we're on the same wavelength
