Alright so I went into the .ini file and changed a bunch of stuff. Turned off Luclin models, turned off combat music, activated windowed mode by default, changed font sizes etc. If you are having any issues with any sort of options like these and can't find them in the in-game options, be sure to check out the .ini file.Thank everyone for your comments, help and suggestions.
My original main toon was a dark elf necromancer. It was an amazing experience at the launch of Eq about 25 years ago. I had some of the most iconic items I played her for 6 years straight
my very first character back in 2000 was a wood elf ranger. fun class to play, good solo potential outdoors especially. not great in dungeons until high level. had fun with it. Later I created a barbarian shaman and built it up - went on the epic quest line and got it the shield and finally the epic spear.
i remember fighting in the newbie zone (like outside Qeynos city) and trying to find mobs holding a staff cause those can be worth about 1 platinum. great cash for a new character
I randomly discovered one of the later parts of this playthrough so here I am starting properly at #1 :) This is really neat to watch for me since I never got to play this game.
As someone who discovered MMOs a little later than the original EQ days (played a ton of early Lineage 2), I find myself wishing I had nostalgia for this game. I feel like it has aged incredibly well, and projects like this are amazing - I definitely have nostalgia for what this genre used to be. Would not know where to begin with EQ if I dove in today 😂
What I could suggest is to continue to watch various people play various classes. Everyone has their style, their favorite classes and zones. I bet after you watch for a bit, especially characters starting out, you will get a sense of what to do and where to go. Then just jump in and give it a shot. Once upon a time I had been away from the game for many years. This is how I got back in.
I appreciate the reply! As modern gaming continues to decline (IMO) I turn more and more to the past, to the iconic experiences I never got to be part of at the time. When EQ originally released, I was still a kid stuck on FPS titles before my eyes were opened to the draw of the MMO. This game has always been on my radar. Look forward to watching your playthroughs and learning a thing or two!

I just got into P99 about a month ago, made a couple characters on blue & green, saw Project Quarm but had no idea what it was (along with a bunch of other servers in the list), may have to make a character there!
Alt + Enter works in most games to fullscreen or window mode. The terrible models you mentioned from a distance, top left of display options is "level of detail" turn it off and it should display full res models at any distance. Of course this was 10 days ago and you likely already know all of this but just in case you don't and or other people want to know that stumble here.
Actually I didn't know that about the level of detail. Let me check that out. As for the window thing yeah I knew that but I guess what I figured out was the control alt R or whatever it was, muscle memory at this point, to unlock the mouse from the window! That's what was bugging me out. All is well, thank you!

I'm one of those people who underrate them, lol. Their vision is decent in this so that helps. You can start in Qeynos as a half elf. I don't know but in the long run it won't matter. People should make whatever it is they want to!
Quality of life is the Human's biggest advantage for sure. Especially now with the vision fix. Some casters can fix that but monks etc were tough with that bad vision.

I have also been playing HC WoW as well as other WoW. I made a dark elf necro and went off to Freeport because Nektulos is too dangerous. I had some fun playing with the old UI before switching to Duxa.

I know, right? But I did find out that your pet is always max level when summoned and also the higher pets only take 1 bone chip instead of 2. So I feel better now.

Also playing a human necro on Quarm. Made it to level 4 today and having a great time so far. Looking forward to the camera fix and hoping for a boost to mob spawn rate in some zones. East Commons spawn rate is pretty terrible and is very empty.
I was really excited for this, but I can’t stand playing in first person, and the jittery 3rd person camera is a deal breaker for me. I’ll check it out again when and if they fix it
That was a hard swallow moment for sure when you realized there was no way to turn off the Combat Music. As much as I wanted to join in this project, I cannot bring myself to with the current limitations in the build
I'm having a fine time. It's different for sure but I'm learning a lot from the comments here and also getting used to some of the minor differences. Also, they are going to give the option to change the client which is going to bring in more and better options such as fixing the mouse scroll wheel. That should be in a few months or so. Definitely looking forward to that.

Yeah, I was playing yesterday and there was 1300 people online. Currently we are in a lul between expansions too. When Kunark drops I'm sure we will see a surge and it will be back up around 1600-1800. Some people are probably raid logging atm. Many, many people are making alts right now. Still people grouping at all levels. Dungeons are still packed with groups. Respawns are increase though so there is enough for everyone.
Ok im glad i wasnt the only one who thought the camera controls were super annoying. Hope the fix wont take too long! Oh and in case you havent figured it out before this post, just hit alt + enter to go into windowed mode!
Yeah, there are a tooooon of people complaining about it. It's how it's been on TAKP this whole time and was a deal breaker for me and that server. People are saying it's a deal breaker for them here and now. I think I'm mostly over it now and I love me a fresh launch. I'm waiting and hoping for that mouse update as well!
So what does this do that's different than P99 or one of the TLPs? No map? Still has corpse runs? I've played EQ on Oakwynd until mid-velious and it wasn't a bad experience (never played EQ before), but I could not get into P99 or TAKP.
It's actually a lot. There are xp penalties for certain classes/races at certain points in the timeline. They eventually are gone by Velious. No corpse runs on TLPs. Money doesn't weigh anything on TLPs (may not sound like it but this is a big deal. Especially for monks), No hell levels on TLPs. Hell levels are where certain levels require double the XP to level. There is no circle below mobs to tell you what they con to you on p99/PQ. You have origin on TLP which is a gate for any and all classes on TLP. This doesn't exist on p99/PQ. Melee have no option but to get ported or hoof it. Casters don't get to have 2 different locations to gate to. There are revamped zones on TLP which as dog shit. Example is the new Freeport and Bazaar. They have combined some zones on TLP. Examples are there is no Oasis of Marr on TLP and East/West commonlands are now one zone. There are focus affects on items earlier on TLP. There are OP quest rewards out of era on TLP. Some Legacy items don't exist on TLPs even when they were in era. Bards have melody (massive) on TLP. Enchanters pet damage is way nerfed on TLP. Charisma doesn't help charm on TLP. You can pay-to-win on TLP. You can pay USD or any currency for Krono and then sell that for platinum and twink yourself. You can buy XP pots, invis pots, stat pots, sow pots etc... on TLP. You can buy transmogs so people look stupid AF and completely out of era on TLP. The environment looks 1999 but characters look 2004+. You don't need to use boats anymore on TLP. There are NPCs that teleport you around at docks from day 1. You have an extended targets window at level 20 on TLP. You never get it on p99/PQ. Same for maps. Your skills level up super fast on TLP. Damage over time spells have been revamped and do stupid damage on TLP. Some AAs got nerfed on TLP but p99/PQ should have the classic AAs. You buy mass power levels on TLP with groups of enchanters/wizards for Krono on TLP. You pay them Krono per hour and afk in a group, they pull entire zones and mass stun/aoe them down. Maybe you won't do it but everyone else will making you feel behind because they have 300 aa in a few weeks and you have 20. It also makes you less desirable to group when they ask how many AA you have. A massive one is instances. Guilds can get private versions of zones once a week using Agents of change on TLP. P99/PQ is all open world. 1 version of each zone. TLP has pick zones. There are multiple versions of popular zones at once. I played on Aradune TLP and I remember there being nearly 30 picks of Unrest a few days after launch during covid. Iksars can wear plate on TLP. There is a mail system on TLP. There is a shared bank slot on TLP. EXP rate is crazy fast on TLP compared to P99/PQ. Expansions release like every 3 months roughly on TLP. P99/PQ is around 1 year expansions. Which you need because it's a slower game and only 1 of each zone everyone shares. Including raid zones/targets. TLPs for the most part continue to the live expansion 25+ expansions. P99 has classic + 2 expansions. PQ has classic + 4 expansions. Then they lock there forever. The game turns to shit after that anyway, but that's my opinion. It's also the majority opinion because everyone leaves TLPs after PoP and there is usually 1 or 2 guilds remaining on the server from then on. There are probably a billion things I left out in this novel I wrote but... there you have it. It's not for everyone. Nostalgia makes it easier. Some people like it easy with many quality of life changes. Some people like it hard and/or punishing. I play all games hard and/or punishing. I'm a fan of hardcore modes on games etc. Everyone is different. I do take a vacation and play on a TLP server every now and again. It's easier to experience raid content on TLPs it's just less gratifying and has less sense of accomplishment.
One more thing is that on p99/PQ there is absolutely zero tolerance for RMT and hacking. It's VERY difficult to buy platinum and it's VERY expensive in real life currency. Can you pull it off? of course but they will ban people. Daybreak or Darkpaw or whoever TF is in charge these days could give a shit less. People are non stop hacking, buying platinum from websites because it's cheaper. Buying characters at max level and AAs. They do nothing to fight this because they are desperate for subs. These private servers are projects made with love. They aren't making money so they will ban people. Also TLP everything is a DPS race. There is no "play nice" policy anymore. No such thing as a camp. If the big dick guild on the server wants to take your camp that you've been at trying to get your key to whatever zone, they will and there is no consequence for it. That isn't allowed on p99/PQ. For the most part the community on p99/PQ is very nice. People share and help. TLP is like WoWs community. People will take advantage of you instantly if you let them. That was more than one more thing.

@ClassicEverQuest I admit I wasn't lol I'm guessing what I was saying. At the start you needed money for a pet but you kept trying things that didn't work. Attacking level 2, only looking for skeletons, you almost died, did die. You had a goal of bonechips but why not just kill a bunch of lvl 1 snakes, sell to get a couple gold, buy your pet spell, then go with your goal of bonechips while your toon is complete. Also, I'm just realizing this video is over a year old 😂😂😂. Been watching a lot of eq content lately.
@KingDLJ lol, yeah it's even hard for me to remember what happened in the video. I just remember everything was super camped. In the end myself and others were finding 1 spawn point and just camping the mob when it spawned. It was that bad, lol. The food thing was spawn rate time was sped up
It's basically project 1999 but it goes up to PoP instead of stopping at velious. There are other changes here or there for the health of game/server but in a nutshell, that's it. I have a couple videos talking on details about the server just before it launched. Check my UA-cam from a out 5 weeks ago. Has details and what not. I also have links in video descriptions. The population is still just under 2k people online during peak hours which honestly is most of the day. It's actually insane.
I don't really know but when I dropped the project quarm files into the installation folder, and started up the game, it asked him if I wanted to use some UI, I selected yes. It did mention I can change the UI from the options menu. I think it comes with a couple built in
It seemed odd; looks like it'd let you pick an iksar even though kunark isn't out at the time of server launch. shocked that you'd pick a human to be a necro... or for... anything... really...
@@KILRtv the run animation looks like they dumped a giant load in a diaper. The rest of the animations look like dog crap, the rigging of the limbs is awful, and they look so out of place from the rest of the game world because they changed the art style to try to make them look more realistic but that clashes with a more authentic fantasy vibe. There are more issues I have with them than that but I won’t go on and on.

The complaint I have is in regards to the Drakin race that was added in Live. I see nothing special about them (or Crescent Reach). I would have preferred to see Avians.
I'm sure you are mainly referencing the mouse wheel camera but what else on the client is no good? If the camera is a deal breaker for people a fix is coming and people can try back later. They are changing to a different client with many more features in the coming months. Before Kunark. I notice this comment is from my first day on the server. I love that Quarm is on a 6 month expansion period. I have no rushed feeling like on TLPs.
It's actually 9 months. They changed it to 9 about 30 days before launch but I guess they could change it again depending on feedback.

Some of the most neutral faction in the game too, it's why agnostic enchanters usually go human form to get into most cities.

How has HC wow been treating you? I died on a mage at 47. I have a 35 rogue and 39 mage currently.

Yeah, based on the discord post I was expecting hyper spawns but it didn't seem too hyper. Having a great time also though.

Still pages a runes. During the first bew expansions as least. During PoP it will be drops like in BOT

Do bards have to twist their songs manually on quarm?
They do for the next couple of years. Once the server plays out and PoP is released and patched bards will have melody.

It also makes you less desirable to group when they ask how many AA you have. A massive one is instances. Guilds can get private versions of zones once a week using Agents of change on TLP. P99/PQ is all open world. 1 version of each zone. TLP has pick zones. There are multiple versions of popular zones at once. I played on Aradune TLP and I remember there being nearly 30 picks of Unrest a few days after launch during covid. Iksars can wear plate on TLP. There is a mail system on TLP. There is a shared bank slot on TLP. EXP rate is crazy fast on TLP compared to P99/PQ. Expansions release like every 3 months roughly on TLP. P99/PQ is around 1 year expansions. Which you need because it's a slower game and only 1 of each zone everyone shares. Including raid zones/targets. TLPs for the most part continue to the live expansion 25+ expansions. P99 has classic + 2 expansions. PQ has classic + 4 expansions. Then they lock there forever. The game turns to shit after that anyway, but that's my opinion. It's also the majority opinion because everyone leaves TLPs after PoP and there is usually 1 or 2 guilds remaining on the server from then on. There are probably a billion things I left out in this novel I wrote but... there you have it. It's not for everyone. Nostalgia makes it easier. Some people like it easy with many quality of life changes. Some people like it hard and/or punishing. I play all games hard and/or punishing. I'm a fan of hardcore modes on games etc. Everyone is different. I do take a vacation and play on a TLP server every now and again. It's easier to experience raid content on TLPs it's just less gratifying and has less sense of accomplishment.
One more thing is that on p99/PQ there is absolutely zero tolerance for RMT and hacking. It's VERY difficult to buy platinum and it's VERY expensive in real life currency. Can you pull it off? of course but they will ban people. Daybreak or Darkpaw or whoever TF is in charge these days could give a shit less. People are non stop hacking, buying platinum from websites because it's cheaper. Buying characters at max level and AAs. They do nothing to fight this because they are desperate for subs. These private servers are projects made with love. They aren't making money so they will ban people. Also TLP everything is a DPS race. There is no "play nice" policy anymore. No such thing as a camp. If the big dick guild on the server wants to take your camp that you've been at trying to get your key to whatever zone, they will and there is no consequence for it. That isn't allowed on p99/PQ. For the most part the community on p99/PQ is very nice. People share and help. TLP is like WoWs community. People will take advantage of you instantly if you let them. That was more than one more thing.

@ClassicEverQuest I admit I wasn't lol I'm guessing what I was saying. At the start you needed money for a pet but you kept trying things that didn't work. Attacking level 2, only looking for skeletons, you almost died, did die. You had a goal of bonechips but why not just kill a bunch of lvl 1 snakes, sell to get a couple gold, buy your pet spell, then go with your goal of bonechips while your toon is complete. Also, I'm just realizing this video is over a year old 😂😂😂. Been watching a lot of eq content lately.
@KingDLJ lol, yeah it's even hard for me to remember what happened in the video. I just remember everything was super camped. In the end myself and others were finding 1 spawn point and just camping the mob when it spawned. It was that bad, lol. The food thing was spawn rate time was sped up
What is project quarm
It's basically project 1999 but it goes up to PoP instead of stopping at velious. There are other changes here or there for the health of game/server but in a nutshell, that's it. I have a couple videos talking on details about the server just before it launched. Check my UA-cam from a out 5 weeks ago. Has details and what not. I also have links in video descriptions. The population is still just under 2k people online during peak hours which honestly is most of the day. It's actually insane.

I don't really know but when I dropped the project quarm files into the installation folder, and started up the game, it asked him if I wanted to use some UI, I selected yes. It did mention I can change the UI from the options menu. I think it comes with a couple built in

How are they hideous? They look fine to me. I never cared for the old models, although I'm fine with them being NPC's.
@@KILRtv the run animation looks like they dumped a giant load in a diaper. The rest of the animations look like dog crap, the rigging of the limbs is awful, and they look so out of place from the rest of the game world because they changed the art style to try to make them look more realistic but that clashes with a more authentic fantasy vibe. There are more issues I have with them than that but I won’t go on and on.

The complaint I have is in regards to the Drakin race that was added in Live. I see nothing special about them (or Crescent Reach). I would have preferred to see Avians.

I'm sure you are mainly referencing the mouse wheel camera but what else on the client is no good? If the camera is a deal breaker for people a fix is coming and people can try back later. They are changing to a different client with many more features in the coming months. Before Kunark. I notice this comment is from my first day on the server. I've updated and changed some options since. Removed graphics etc.
