SOHC can make some great power for cheap. I’ve got a single cam non VTEC junkyard setup making 240whp 210wtq that I built out of spare stock parts from around the shop basically. F23 stock block/rods/crank, stock PRB pistons installed backwards (K20a2 pistons), ported stock H23 intake, 70mm port matched TB, Delta cam, PLM big tube Tri-y header to 3” exhaust and Vibrant muffler. Tuned on S300 using Ignite E90 at the time. It’s an amazing street motor because the torque curve is so flat.
I love people that use the y7 let alone all motor no boost. Who tf cares if its "slow" for them. You go man.

wish we coulda seen more out of that single cam would have loved to see what it would have done with some power mods.
It had too many miles , 235k+ and it was starting to burn through too much oil , would’ve needed a full rebuild
