Lex was super kind and thoughtful in her reply, but to the people who comment things like this: WHY ARE YOU WATCHING CONTENT YOU KNOOOOOW IS GOING TO UPSET YOU? That's on you, boo. Stop trying to police others and protect your own peace by not watching it. I myself wish that hunting didn't exist. I find it hugely upsetting to see/hear about someone killing and slaughtering an animal. Therefore I don't seek out hunting channels and then complain that the people are doing what I don't like and tell them they are upsetting me, when it's my own decision whether or not to watch that.
Those were my thoughts, too. If you know the content is going to upset you or make you angry, don't watch it. There is a video out now by a veterinarian that I ALWAYS watch, but I won't watch this one--a tribute to a dog that a friend of hers lost (the dog died). I know that will upset me (because I know the pain of losing a pet), so I choose not to watch it.
I wish Mormons would take a second and think of how they would feel if they were constantly told to shut up about their lives experiences. How would they like to be called names, told you are mocking, and criticized just for speaking about what’s been experienced.
They’d feel validated, I bet.
I’m pretty sure Mormons are raised to believe they’re persecuted by a hostile world.
They believe exmos/apostates _deserve_ that abuse. 😢 It's kind of horrible.
It is bold of you to think that most are capable of thinking and having empathy.
The Endowment makes 10 covenants with patrons, 5 of which include secrecy. I was caught by surprise when I took out my own endowments, then later argued to actually prep pre-endowment peeps because secrecy is limited. I was told, yes, only 5 secrets are specifically mentioned, but only Satan would want to reveal the rest. Satan? So I'm Satan for wanting people to know what they're getting into? Oh boy.
You may remember how in the ceremony Lucifer stares into the audience and makes a direct threat to the patrons. I'm paraphrasing here. "If you do not live up to every covenant made in the temple THIS DAY, you will be in MY power." But he is actually binding them To Obey, and thus Be in his power.
Good thing none of them are real or matter whatsoever.. might as well make some covenants with the Easter bunny next.

I myself am not religious. I don't plan to join any other organized religion. But I do love learning about other religions, philosophy, and history.
I went through in the 1970's. I know they've caved and modified the rituals now, but I like sharing how it was for me with incredulous current members. Very few believe my narrative.

I've studied a lot of Mormon history. But that's a new quote I hadn't heard before Mormonism is a facade of Christianity, with Masonry at its core. The markings on the garments are all Masonic, as well as the entire exterior decor of the new Nauvoo temple.

I've been struggling lately, apart from my religious deconstruction, but also abuse recovery, and I keep hitting the wall with some people who act angry or offended by me when I share some of my personal experiences. They say that in doing so I'm disrespecting the church and also the people who hurt me as a child, even when I portray my feelings and experiences in the most respectful way I know how. I've been watching your channel for a few months now and I'm amazed at how well you kindly set boundaries with those who try to shame you for sharing your experiences, and as a mother of three daughters myself I couldn't be prouder if they grew to be such articulate, smart young women.

No kidding. She is the best. Which I cannot say for myself, I’m really pissed and deal with this every day over the Mormon church and their atrocities.
When I went through the temple before my mission in 1978, I kind of felt traumatized by the blood oaths in the temple. I was really clueless going through the endowment for the first time, I totally internalized every covenant and penalty, and I was very much afraid that if I violated any of the secretcy oaths and would have my stomach and throat slit open. I would even allow myself to think about the ceremony outside the temple.

I see my life like a book. The book has many chapters that have many different experiences in them. I have my Mormon chapter. I am not ashamed of that chapter. I learned so much, and I grew as a person in that chapter, but it is gone now and I am several chapters beyond it. I don't regret it. I sometimes wonder how I believed it so strongly at the time, but no regrets.
I knew some WONDERFUL people in that chapter. Decent people that I realized later would have been decent no matter what the situation was, or what religion they believed in. I now face the 'old man' chapter. One I never thought I would live to see. I am not afraid. Let it bring it's wisdom to me anyway it is supposed to. NO FEAR. Never fear. There should be no regrets.
The Temple, ah the Temple. Such a beautiful place when you believe..... natively. Such a silly waste of money when you don't. Funny, I will DEFEND Mormons against "Christians" all day long. @@bruscifer I had always known that religion was BS. When I was a teen, I had a meeting with the bishop to get a recommend for the Chicago Temple..... question he asked, are you honest in your dealings?
I actually laughed my ass off and asked him the same.
I was the kid wearing a Van Halen shirt sitting in the back row.
Our lives are our own.....it is all about The Divine Right to Just Be, that contradicts religion.

I found this channel by random chance the other day and saved it. I've seen a few of her videos and find them interesting as a person who came from the Midwest and was exposed to the Mormon culture later in life was quite a shock at how it involves itself in literally every aspect of people's lives. I'll be watching more videos and trying to catch up on past episodes, but this certainly seems to touched a great many people over the years.

You’re right, Sara Reese. They were HER covenants. HER lived experiences. And she has every right to talk about her lived experiences if she wants. You, Sara, also have that freedom of choice.
Thank you for shedding light on these ungodly rituals. I am curious if you are a Christian or now completely unbelieving. No attacks here. I'm only here to learn because I've been speaking to a Mormon gentleman and want to be informed before I'm tricked into something dark. Especially since they are seemingly the nicest people!

A contract made under duress is not a contract. A better way to say it is : "Why are you doing things that you know to hide?"
Very respectful my comment would have been along the lines of if you don’t like it don’t watch it.
We can’t just pretend the temple didn’t happen. It’s a big deal to a lot of people on both sides.
Of course, respect is needed, but the topic is not off the table.
I would like to hear your thoughts on food storage, I was brought up to believe that we needed three years of food clothing , water and medicine storage, we were to live out of our storage and replenish as we used our resources. Personally I left the church 45 years ago, and I still have two thousand pounds of wheat stored in barrels, along with rice, and other dried foods. I can’t seem to throw it out , so it just sits there, for 45 fucking years! All that. “ end of times’ bullshit has made a mark on me that I can’t seem to fully ignore.
What I respect is that you no longer regard your reasons for remaining silent about your Temple experiences as valid.
For me, I was exposed to Free Masonry as a teen, I will not talk about my Temple experiences because I agreed not to talk about them. My silence has nothing to do with sanctity. I don't regard Masonic rituals as sacred; instead they are pointless and silly IMO. (When I agreed to remain silent I was completely ignorant of ceremonial magick or why people would engage in it; that is no longer the case.) The dubious reality of magick notwithstanding, I don't talk about such things because I said that I wouldn't talk about such things.

I know you are an atheist now, but in the Bible in John 18:20 Jesus says "Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing". In other words, Jesus never taught things for only certain "worthy" people to hear. He did not hide his teachings. You knew what he was all about.
