I think the most important takeaway here is that the demographic this song would hope to reach won’t hear it. The kids who already understand the separation of the “image” and reality don’t need to hear this. The ones who are closer to the side of getting caught up in the negative side of the culture would never listen to this... it’s just not good, at all. It don’t schlap lol
I don't believe that to be true and you're way of thinking that you're speaking for most kids and how they would feel about a song. I can almost bet if half the kids were exposed to music that helped spread positive lyrics more then the negative they would appreciate that more and that in itself would give them more hope that things can get better and that they have the power to change their lives for the better. IMO
But that isn’t the real word. The real world isn’t positive and it’s a cold place for a lot of people and rap has always had a negative and dark sound to it because of the place it came from and the things these rappers see.
@@TheThirdErnest So how would the idea to keep rapping about the same negative things over and over ever have a chance of changing things for the better then? Its got to start somewhere. @xPositivityx his cadence and flow has the potential to elevate his game into that top tier of modern rap (UA-cam) Yet he throws in these loud, and sometimes extremely colorful and corny hooks like he's had a brain fart and woken up in a lady gaga and Taylor swift orgy.

Bro there's an artist named SEVIN and he's got a song titled "Somebody Lied" where he touches on gang culture and carrying guns everywhere but he takes the right approach because unlike Tom MacDonald he's actually experienced that culture for what it is. You oughta listen to it, it's fire, regardless of what anybody think of the message.
Sevin is a legend and doesn’t get the credit he deserves. He’s been in the game like 20 years and is so underrated. Thank you for acknowledging him with your comment.
he said you can blame the rappers, he didn't say you should, he also said you can blame the rappers but your favorite song is about doing drugs, in order to understand toms message you definitely got to pay close attention
11:25 - 12:38 Ernest, this is brilliant. Do you mind if I steal it for a music class I teach at a psychiatric hospital? This just fits with the topic I am currently discussing with my hip-hop music group, which is about separating reality from TV/entertainment, and how to choose role models. Thanks in advance! Again, this is SOOOO well spoken! P.S. OK, I also want to add everything from 13:35 on as well. This about sums it up. So accurate!!!

Tom MacDonald is a walking contradiction. He made his come up on controversial topics and now he is trying to chase that. He tries to make all his songs controversial but when you do that it just sounds like the same shit and loses it's meaning. This was one of his worst songs BTW. He sounds like your parents in the 90's...."stop listening to that gangster rap!!!" 😂😂😂😂
It's only controversial because there's so many morons. His goal is to unite people. Artists have the choice to not sign to a record label and be their puppet. They could be independent and not rap about drugs, alcohol, and whores. So therefore Tom is right. Music does have an affect on people's mental health and behavior.
Yo Ernest, big fan of your breakdowns. To be honest, yours is the first review which actually portrays a true image of the song. Almost every review posted yet, including Shaq were positives, not looking onto the other side of the spectrum, so thank you for doing that. One sided propositions are never a debate, and the best form of overcoming hurdles and solidifying ideas is by debate. So yes, I really appreciate the way you went about this particular song, because I feel Tom is a hypocrite in many ways, and you pointed that out, just goes to show you're not here for the fame, but for the love of rap, and I can respect the hell outta you for that! Kudos mate!
Plain and simple i am subscribed to you because your reactions are amazing, never stop doing you. Because being you is exactly what the reaction game needs
also keep in mind that were not supposed to judge anyone based on what they look like, that was my first reaction too, like why is this guy covered in tattoos and piecerings, but i didn't i immediately discredit him, i almost think its making a statement about not judging based on looks, he even mentions this, that he looks like a mumble rapper but hes not, if you don't understand something, ask us, we are his fans we can help you understand his primary goal with his music, its to unite as many people as possible, and to help with that goal he trys to give everyone a voice and to show us that just because we disagree with some stuff tom says and we don't turn it off and don't get mad about it, its to say look you can disagree with me on stuff, but thats ok, its the same thing when you talk to other people about important issues and you disagree hopefully you will continue the conversation and at least try to understand there point of view
Tom is spitting FACTS and anyone who doesn’t think music has an influence on people, especially youth, is naive. I swear some people don't actually listen to all the lyrics. Chorus hook ends with: "You can't blame the rappers When you show up and love the songs that make you dumb You can't blame the rappers" He is basically making points on both sides. People should take a little responsibility for what their floating out to the masses when they are in those positions. But at the end of the day it's the fans that blow up the Stars and make the decisions to listen to that crap. Tom is saying if you're the one blowing them up and listening to that crap you can't blame them.

@TheThirdErnest may I ask about the statement you made about kids learning from their parents, what if the kids parents are complete racists should the kid not be open and just be racist. No because as kids we do learn alot from our parents but also our surroundings, media and who we hang out with have a huge impact on kids also. I've personally heard of friends doing things because of certain rappers doing it so it's a two way street on the influence because if you grew up to music because your family had to work 24/7, you tend to try to be like those models for you trying to live the good life
Tom is a phenomenal artist but his biggest problem is trying to release too much too fast. His formula is simple, rap on what he thinks is most relevant, but, it's not much, his last four tracks have basically been the same thing.
@@TheThirdErnest "Tyler Joseph came up with the band's name while studying "All My Sons" by Arthur Miller; a play about a man who commits suicide after causing the death of twenty one pilots during World War II because he knowingly sent them faulty parts for the good of his business." - IMDB Tyler has said he uses the name as a reminder to not give in to the music industry of doing things the easy way to be a band that is popular. Hm, ok, interesting. I have never heard of this artist before so before I watched your reaction I listened to the song first, and to be honest I thought it was actually kinda good. I mean, it's not the most complex thing ever, it's a bit predictable, and the singing wasn't pefect, definitely rough in some areas to say the least. However, I thought some of the messages were actually pretty meaningful. For example, I do understand that "who's to blame for who they become" is problematic, like you said it is on the parents, it can also be on them (responsibility for their own actions kind of thing), but to be fair, influences play a huge role in that, which is what I think he was trying to say: "Blame the rapper" (the influence) because there are rappers who are absolute trash and some children may not have the parents to properly support and educate them about what they are listening to and watching. So, to me, this track wasn't that bad, there is definitely much worse. 🤷🏻♀️ I definitely understand where you are coming from though and respect your opinions.
Tom even started 2 verses stating he was a rapper to claim his area of influence and he didn;t say 'blame all rappers' or 'don't blame the other role models; this was an obvious targetted area of influence and some are feeling more and more aware of the platform they have... cudos 2 u and respect 2 Tom and Dax for putting their necks on the line for the greater good ;)
@@georgejetson1379 Uh, well, I wouldn't go that far to say that they put their necks on the line, some artists have discussed way more "touchy" subjects, some that no one else would and/or some that weren't even noticed as an issue. True cuz all of his songs are about topics that should be talked about but hell run out of topics and then what. If you base all of songs on something that specific youll run out and with it your career
Kim Turner exactly my issue. lyrics aren’t anything, if all i cared about was the topic and what he was saying i’d read a book by him, or listen to a ted talk by him. i want to listen to music i can actually enjoy, with good melody and rhythm. his music has 0 substance and they all sound the same with the exception of the lyrics.
Hey idk if u remember me 3rnest but I have commented several times and followed u for some time now, I do agree on the visual message part where he has chose to make his own image and all...but I really think that there is no harm in him trying to push a message that isn't a bad one at a time where change is happening at an unprecedented rate , yes it makes good music to ride and smoke or get crunk to talking about hoes , drugs , prison , and not in a positive manor. I can say I personally liked the hell out this song and as u said at start of video, majority of others do too. I think if nothing else he exploited the opportunity to make a song that we knew people would not only like but present himself in a manor where he seems to be the good guy ,.,maybe he is just smart and trying to make a dollar idk but I see ur point ...and agree all but the part where u said this songs trash.,,and the poles say most do like it as well, which is good....this means people want to make change. Or at least are willing to hear about it...anyway...just to give u an update on my check up I told u about I had coming up...cancer is back and terminal.. So maybe it's just me hoping for something better for this world knowing my time is short and I am dealing with personal issues like this. As I said last post and u commented on,.. I literally wait on ur videos to come cause it helps me have my own getaway and release from reality for a minute or two,,,which may not seem much ,, but it's a lot when the pressure is this hard all the time ...keep it up and try to make positive out of the negative..,there's always...always ..something good even,in,the midst of all the evil....much love bro
@Keith Stegall Damn facts ! I agree totally with your assessment.. If you had a reaction channel I would listen to you over those 'high IQ' rap reactors that feel threatened by a rare artist trying to make the world a better place by risking the rejection of the masses.... Tom has a young daughter and is real about his messages... Those 'parent' figures are very often the worst role models for their own children in this demograpgic especially... This song was simple to understand on purpose... not a rap battle moment... GEEZ! LayedBak felt threatened too and said it was trash... that's cool.. No Life Shaq gets it... loved his approach... he was fair... still love Third Earnest though... after he reads me comments on this song I'll see how fair he is... AND NO! there are NOT enough rappers spreading THIS message...Earnest must be referring to rappers who diss others for selfish motives and not careing about the morals of the youth... I raised 4 daughters on my own... it is hard to block the media machine that only wants consumers at any cost... first they must create a divide between the parent and their influence...some have a daughter to think about.... that is a game changer for sure..
This is not at all what this song is. This song is hate aimed at other artist with no accountability on his part. It's just a way to say I'm better than these guys, when in fact he isn't. If you really want to make change make positive music that people want to listen to. This is just more negative music that only polarises the genre more. And on top of that it's terrible sonically and lyrically sounds like hot garbage, so the message doesn't really matter anyway. (Don't forget the message is also bad, just hate with no self awareness.)

I like that you actually give your opinion and clearly state why. Too many channels fake that they like everything. In the case of Tom you really have to listen to all of his music. You can not assume what he is singing is his actual view. You will hear in another song the exact opposite point of view. as an example in American Dreamz he blames the Parents. He writes songs to get people to think. His hooks are usually not the best cant argue that. (but hey do you eat the hook or the fish, LOL). After your No Response Reaction you said he earned another shot from you. haven't seen it yet, as has been said This House, Sorry, Sober. Thanks keep up the good work

I don't think calling his song is trash when it's clearly not is " criticism he needs or wants bro, literally been on UA-cam 3 days has 1.5 million views already. Sound like trash to u 😂😂🤣😂😡
Well if this song is trash and maybe the focus should be put on the people that keep listening to it people listen to it for a reason maybe just maybe it's because it's good and they like it...or it's bad and they like it ...which makes sense ... Some people are born leaders and others are born followers smh
@@keithstegall9486 I don't believe Ernest called his song trash, just the hook was trash in his opinion. The rest of the song, he said was to predictable.

I love your commentaries. I share your videos because I think you’re always spot on. I found you through TØP reaction videos, and I’m hooked. Don’t change!

When he said "blame the fucking parents" killed me😂😂
Tom MacDonald is a walking contradiction.
Kudos mate!
The funny thing is Dax wanted Em to sign him, and then he teams up with Tom Macdonald to make this 😂

Broooo that piece about the way he portrays his image and acta as though he is a positive influence.... So much insight 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
also keep in mind that were not supposed to judge anyone based on what they look like, that was my first reaction too, like why is this guy covered in tattoos and piecerings, but i didn't i immediately discredit him, i almost think its making a statement about not judging based on looks, he even mentions this, that he looks like a mumble rapper but hes not, if you don't understand something, ask us, we are his fans we can help you understand his primary goal with his music, its to unite as many people as possible, and to help with that goal he trys to give everyone a voice and to show us that just because we disagree with some stuff tom says and we don't turn it off and don't get mad about it, its to say look you can disagree with me on stuff, but thats ok, its the same thing when you talk to other people about important issues and you disagree hopefully you will continue the conversation and at least try to understand there point of view
I agree with you on this one. Some of Tom's music isn't bad, but this song was.

Tom is spitting FACTS and anyone who doesn’t think music has an influence on people, especially youth, is naive. I swear some people don't actually listen to all the lyrics. Chorus hook ends with:
"You can't blame the rappers
When you show up and love the songs
that make you dumb
You can't blame the rappers"
He is basically making points on both sides. People should take a little responsibility for what their floating out to the masses when they are in those positions. But at the end of the day it's the fans that blow up the Stars and make the decisions to listen to that crap. Tom is saying if you're the one blowing them up and listening to that crap you can't blame them.
I've never heard of Tom Macdonald until today. My hope is I never do again.

At first I was like hater !! Lol but you got a really valid point and you right , you right ! Parents are the real influential of what’s right and wrong 👌🏽
Artists have the choice to not sign to a record label and be their puppet. They could be independent and not rap about drugs, alcohol, and whores. So therefore Tom is right. Then from 5 years old to 18 years old their kids spend most of their time in school. Think of how many students use their smart phones in school. Their parents can't control their kids when they are in school.

I skipped the vid because I thought the same way. Then I saw you did a breakdown vid on it, and thought maybe I was wrong... lol
I definitely understand where you are coming from though and respect your opinions.
One of the rappers that is absolute trash is this dude.
Word Becca.... ;)
Tom even started 2 verses stating he was a rapper to claim his area of influence and he didn;t say 'blame all rappers' or 'don't blame the other role models; this was an obvious targetted area of influence and some are feeling more and more aware of the platform they have... cudos 2 u and respect 2 Tom and Dax for putting their necks on the line for the greater good ;)
@@fulldeepshadowmmon I wouldn't know, haven't listened to anything else of his
@@georgejetson1379 Uh, well, I wouldn't go that far to say that they put their necks on the line, some artists have discussed way more "touchy" subjects, some that no one else would and/or some that weren't even noticed as an issue.
White boy was worse than this tf
I actually laughed through this whole reaction lol i agree with everything you said for real.
I love your warrior spirit in the midst of your challenges... appreciate you sharing them ;)
This is not at all what this song is.

I actually am not one of those people who tell people what they wanna here so I am not gonna agree with what you said.I agree with what Tom has said in the video. Not all kids are lucky to have parents that care or are even positive role models. That's why it's so important to have that positive influence if they can't get it at home. Kids that don't have that role model at home are gonna look elsewhere so it makes sense that if you are someone who has a big influence on kids with your music, why would you tell them it's okay to do stupid stuff?
