- Join our weekly Combat Check-In Newsletter (www.combatstory.com/newsletter) to get a short email from Ryan for people who love and support our veterans, service members, and their families. It has info on a significant event in military and/or intel history, a funny military joke, an update on a current event I'm following, something I'm doing that week in my life, a book I'm reading, a look at an upcoming interview, a reflection on a past episode and more!
This is the Combat Story of JT Snow, a long time AH-64 Apache gun pilot. JT is a Chief Warrant Officer 4 (Retired) who flew over 5,000 flight hours, including 2,000 hours in combat across four deployments: two to Iraq and two to Afghanistan.
From the cockpit, he supported conventional and U.S. and coalition special operations forces during intense engagements, often pioneering new tactics and technologies to lethal effect.
He finished his career as a Task Force (Battalion) Standardizations Pilot (SP) during two year-long combat deployments, where he was the Task Force's senior Pilot responsible for the standardization and execution of combat operations for all assigned to the Task Force, which included OH58D, CH47F, UH60L and AH64D aircraft.
JT's children followed in his footsteps, including fighting from inside the cockpit as the next generation of aviator.

OMG , OMG .... JT Snow ???? 😲
I met JT Snow in Germany in 1994 on a German Army Base. That was in Laupheim. It was a celebration of 30 years of Army Aviation Laupheim (CH53)
An Apache AH-64A and a UH-60 Blackhawk from the US Army.
Almost all types of Military Helicopters were on display. Even two Mil Mi-24 Hind were there!
This was my first Apache that I saw and JT allowed my friends and me to look at the Apache up close behind the barrier.
We even talked about the PC game Comanche.
And after 26 years I find this Pilot on UA-cam 😃
I'm so glad he's fine! Greetings from Germany !
Old 68X (Apache Armament/Electrical sys repair)here. I was in 8/101 AVN from ‘92-‘96 (SAAF). I loved this video. I may have been on a FARP ( Forward Arming Refuel Point), loading one of these two men. I loved my time in the 101st.
Wow. Coming from a 11B vet... THANK YOU for sharing your stories. Much love brother. Y’all are the reckoning. Overwatch for us, and making targets shit their pants.
As an Army Flight Surgeon, now retired, I alway like working with my Apache drivers.
My Dad was with the killer spades in Vietnam 69 to 70. He was door gunner and flight chief.
Guys with nerves of steel... what a job to have...great stuff. My choice still would be part of an elite special force unit..but I tell you what..those guys need these guys..lets never forget that.
I have been to all those basses. I was in the infantry. I loved longbow pilots. Saved my life a few times.
These stories give me chills. Keep up the good work.
Absolutely! I appreciate the kind words!
High school to flight school, we had 3 in my WOFT, all good guys. I was 30 going through WOCS. Had to get an age waiver. I had my 29th birthday at Basics. Thanks you guys service.
Wow My father CMSGT John Tilman Snow spent his 33 year Air Force Career with Helicopters, 2 years of that as a door gunner on a Jolly Green Rescue in Vietnam. He has passed on now but what a coincidence to see another Great man Chief Warrant Officer JT Snow in The Helicopter Business with the similar name and career
My father was an IP at Rucker back in the day. He was fixed wing (Mohawk OV-1) but he was also rated in rotary wing -- flew both in Vietnam. We lived in Enterprise - home of the Boll Weevil Monument. The only monument in the WORLD, to a bug. Love these heroic sagas ... 🇺🇸
I remember the Boll Weevil statue! The peanut festival in Dothan was another great event.
What up JT?? Good interview, brings back memories.
This was a excellent example of American might and determination in combat. Awesome interview
Thank you for sharing this Ryan!
Proud to have served alongside both of you. ENM!
@Clinton Cody, are you still flying on active duty?
@@mandatoryfun8891 I am.
@@clintoncody711 think I could touch base with you some how? I’m currently going through the WOFT process. Should be boarded for May, would love to hear anything you have to share.
@@mandatoryfun8891 hit me up on Instagram clintoncody77 or on Facebook.
@@clintoncody711 gotcha on Instagram, couldn’t find you on Facebook. Appreciate it! Talk there!
Excellent content! 🤙 Thank you for your service guys...from a grateful American. 👏🇺🇸
Great interview
Good work on this upload.thanks.
is there any possibility that you could include maps... where everybody else is there...what was the mission in wardak... there's a lot of memories (which you both were in) but no story telling (you know what I mean?) You guys were flying together (separate a/c) but we are here trying to reconstruct the "story" . There must be a reconstruction with some images, maps, OBs in these episodes, notwithstanding the need to conceal certain TTPs perhaps
Best 2nd Podcast on a Channel Ever. Thank you so much for all u do. Like Jocko I will ride this channel to 1 million subs with u!
Great ending!! Great interview!!
Great channel and awesome content! Can’t wait for more videos !
Thanks so much for the support. There's another video coming out tomorrow! Thanks again!
Good discussion ! thank you both.
Good stuff guys. I was a Alpha model crew chief, TI and Platoon SGT. JT called the M230 cannon a Gatling gun at the begining of the pod cast. I was laughing, but I know he knows his stuff. Thanks for your service Gents.
I was wondering about this too... bet he's kickin his own ass for that!
LOL! I was hoping no one caught that mistake! Thanks for keeping me straight.
Ryan, let JT know that I would like to call him. We went to Flight School together. I remember that rivalry between Snow and Beechum. We were the Golden Gorillas, "Come Hang With Us - Class 90-21".. CW4 (Ret) Luis Heredia. Thanks.
What a great video thanks.
Listening to your podcast brought back a few memories of ENM '08 in Salerno. I lived in the same hootch with JT and Stanley Pebsworth on that deployment. JT is a hard charging professional!! Great job on the podcast! Expect No Mercy
I hope you weren’t there when the bomb went off
@@mrj4990 Yes, there for the VBIED. Busy day in the hospital with a lot of local national injuries. I was the unit flight surgeon.
like every episode
Hey Ryan you really put out great content; amazing guests and you definitely have talent as an interviewer. As a long time listener I’ve only recently gotten into the pilot interviews (no offense 😀) but now I’m hooked!! The one thing I would say is there’s a ton of pilot lingo that would be great if you would explain or ask your guest to tell the listeners what you guys were discussing. Keep up the great work on the channel and thank you for your long and distinguished service career!
I also agree with you The Abyss.A abbreviation/meaning chart at the beginning of this video would have been a good addition.
Excellent. Thanks to you both.
Thanks very much for the kind words. This interview meant a lot to me because I flew with JT and saw him do so many amazing things.
Ryan, loved this interview with JT. Are you able to do a follow up with his son and his experiences at the end of the war.
Cool
Hmm , our warrants were rarely at PT
Who hasn't had a flight suit moment?
I was at Q-west and Mosul Iraq
Yeah, I see Robin Olds on your intro , where is his interview
Robin Olds passed away on 14 June 2007
WE NEED NICHOLAS IRVING AKA NICK THE REAPER ON HERE!!!
What was your callsign? JT and why not Ryan as well?
There is a lot of ranks and titles
6-6!!!!
