I'm pretty sure "Popopo-san" is a reference to a Japanese ghost story character called Hachishakusama, an 8-feet-tall woman, who makes "Popopo"-sound when approaching people.

This feels like the ultimate gaming on budget, where even the game has made on budget.
The dev pushes these out about 1-2 a month.
That pace is probably achieved by removing things like story and just having his fans read whatever into this pile of random scenes.

@@PanicLedisko researching that game and dev only (wanted to know what the hell is going on, on a meta level) I found that there seems to be a hard core group of fans, that praise this dev to be the peak of art and seem to semi-attack criticism.
At least that was the impression I got after amateurish looking into it for about 30min and then deciding that I really dont care about it enough. (Probably why my my reply is so late too ;) )

Japanese people don't have fridges usually. They also don't buy in bulk like Americans do. It's very common to leave the house to go to the local gas station for dinner :)

Cool riff on the Hachishakusama urban legend of the yokai who kidnaps children, with tentacles thrown in --- bc why not? I liked the twist on why a girl might not fit in, be bullied, and have her true self emerge when she protects a stray kitten.

I think they were either being sarcastic the whole time or they’re saying “yes, yes, feed the cats bad stuff because I’m a dog person and that means I must hate cats and want to cause them all suffering” (im surprised how many people call themselves “dog people” and mean “psychopathic cat killers”, I’ve heard so many jokes about running over cats in school and stuff.) I’m hoping its the former
@djangel3108 I thought that the bit about "having the most resiliant kidneys" made it clear that this was sarcasm, especially to you as a cat person it should be known that cats got the short end when kidneys got handed out. I thought this was actually well known, so much so that this alone marks it as sarcasm, combined with the dog person send off. Why would I say that I am "a dog person" if my goal is to spread misinfo about cats?
Also if someone is so stupid to A) feed anything only carbs and sodium and B) take advice for their pet from a youtube comment, then there already has been more damage done by the owner alone, than anything I could ever write.

It's honestly kinda baffling how Manly's able to consistently comprehend these confusing-ass games without even needing to mull them over. Still kinda confused on why the mother needed to die, myself.

That was not a good mom. She would just come home after the guy had his smokes and slept all day and do the deed with him. Nothing more, nothing else. Just bringing her burgers and whatever she gave her for breakfast it's not parenting but Satchiko had to take it as kindness because she had no other reference

Father def horrible, but when we would see the mom come home, she would always check up on the kid. That said they did just "find" a kid randomly at the beach one day and maybe adopt them or maybe kidnap them.

"Popo" is a name for "butt" in some germanic languages. So the title of the game is weird enough for me to think less tentacles and more cheeks.

I guess the adoptive parents got what they had coming. The dad was an abusive freeloader. The mom was neglectful, I mean she gives her a happy meal for dinner ffs. And how can you forget the bullies. I don't blame her for going full Ina on them.

However, she seemed to be saying some worrying things about her daughter in that one scene towards the end, provided we can believe the words. It's hard to really know how exactly she felt.

The scene progression and editing in the game is really confusing and a bit disorienting, which is a shame cause the art looks really nice

The camera is very... loose.
Honestly it feels like the game trying to go for horror movie cinematography but it just doesn't look right weather it be due to inexperience or just inherently not looking that good in this games visual style.
As soon as I saw the title I knew what the gameplay and comments were going to be like
The upbeat music made me laugh every time, the cat was adorable, and I agree with at least some of the actions at the end there. This was a ride, I liked it.

This game is not very well designed. Lots of jump cuts and awkward camera movements... it's hard to tell what is going on. But it's Manly Badass Hero, so I will strive to perservere.
