As the city asleep Shares its dreams and desires Every wish that we keep Will trace a line to other times, other places Though the song of the proud Howls and dies, never fall for defeat Take a trip to reprieve every hour they leave From Killermont Street Drink a drink to before And our memories spill Adding on as they pour From our Saturdays and secret sensations Drink a drink to tonight Whisky words tumble down in the street With the pain that they cure, sentimentally yours From Killermont Street And with collar upturned I made it south to see That the love I had spurned Was just the hate in me As the ships and the steel Slip away to the cry of "compete" There's a message for us We can get there by bus From Killermont Street There's a message for us We can get there by bus From Killermont Street
What is the song he's quoting and to which the audience sings along before the reprise? Thanks and forgive my ignorance of what is evidently a renowned song
I've loved this song from the first time I heard it. I had no idea what it was about, I probably still don't. But when I was in Glasgow a few years ago, I suddenly saw the street sign "Killermont Street", and I immediately thought of the song and was brought back to my youth in the late '80s. I love this song so much :)
Glasgow's main bus station is on Killermont Street. Coincidentally, directly across from the venue where this was filmed. 'Take a trip to reprieve Every hour they leave From Killermont Street.'
@@jacquik5094 Killermont Street was the terminus for the 79 bus service from East Kilbride where Roddy and I grew up. It started out in an area called Westwood, (from Westwood to Hollywood....), and it linked with the Glasgow buses and was the terminus for buses to London. So it took people to their future and back to their past and I always felt this song covers both directions. Love the song,
Even though it’s not about my city, Newcastle, this song resonates with every northerner.
i can't thank you enough for posting this.
As the city asleep
Shares its dreams and desires
Every wish that we keep
Will trace a line to other times, other places
Though the song of the proud
Howls and dies, never fall for defeat
Take a trip to reprieve every hour they leave
From Killermont Street
Drink a drink to before
And our memories spill
Adding on as they pour
From our Saturdays and secret sensations
Drink a drink to tonight
Whisky words tumble down in the street
With the pain that they cure, sentimentally yours
From Killermont Street
And with collar upturned
I made it south to see
That the love I had spurned
Was just the hate in me
As the ships and the steel
Slip away to the cry of "compete"
There's a message for us
We can get there by bus
From Killermont Street
There's a message for us
We can get there by bus
From Killermont Street
Utter brilliance....
Just bloody fantastic
Happy Birthday Rodders.
Thankyou for the upload I appreciate it
