The change in the sound since u became part Zildjian is just such a better fit for the sound and feel of Stray Craig so happy that thing fucked out with Meinl but in a good way x

When I first heard the song I was like "how on earth is it possible to play the ride pattern in the verse with just one hand and make it sound that powerful??". Well. It makes sense now. I just couldn't imagine how to play it with two hands because of the way I have my kit setup currently.
I actually recorded it with one hand (you can hear the middle note is always quiet on the record) but this is far easier to play live and looks cooler!

Feele like this is one of those tunes where there's a lot more going on with the drums than I maybe first realised when just listening to the album. Not a drummer though so it ain't hard to sneak some by me.

Zildjian does make great crash ride cymbals like this k crash ride with nice defined bells but mannnnn this ride just doesn’t hold a candle to the signature prototype Meinl ride Craig developed. This bell sounds so weak compared to the Meinl signature downbeat ride that he finally found the perfect weight for. I mean imo all the prototypes he shared were better than his zildjian rides so far and imo I don’t think he’s gonna find a ride that is better than that. I’m pissed it was right before they were about to release it cause I was so stoked to buy it. Literally the best sounding and looking ride with all the exact charateristics I’ve always searched for in a ride. Just speaking in terms of sound and what fits and what sounds best, imo the meinls just sounded better to his playing style and for his band. Zildjians are great cymbals too but just doesn’t sound as good as the meinls did. But then again Craig did say off the bat that he didn’t leave Meinl due to the gear cause he was on record on so many occasions stating Meinl make the best cymbals in the world hands down but left for other reasons dealing with the people and relationships. For the most part it seems Meinl has good artist relations and makes artists feel at home but I’m sure they do have favorites and obviously cater to their bigger artists but who knows we’ll never know what happened but it happens all the time. Tons of artists change companies due to their guy they built a relationship with left the company. Every musician says the same thing that the relationships with the people who work at these companies are far more important than the gear cause you can find top notch gear from every main big company and even smaller companies as long as they can support you wherever and whenever you need it especially for musicians who tour all around the world and/or do clinics all around the world and need support and their companies to be able to come through and supply them with the gear they usually are used to playing or try to get close as possible or whatever the artist asks for and companies who can have that support are usually only the big main top companies whether it’s Meinl zildjian, sabian etc. for cymbals for Tama, pearl, dw, etc for drums/hardware and so on.
