My niche is assessing talents and strong points in those around me to give them ideas and direction in a simple and easy-to-understand manner. I create valuable and authentic UA-cam content while building a community that is safe and welcoming compared to the sterile and disconnected influencer communities of the past. I also create advertisement content and multiple types of art, while working on small business ventures and sharing the things I love, with you.

I went several months without social media being on my phone and barely checking in on my PC either, and I recently redownloaded them. I already feel the overwhelming self comparison and have had to step away again. It's truly such the thief of joy and I don't want to live on it anymore!! One of the reasons I got off initially was realising I was watching others live their lives more than I was living my own.

I agree with everything you said, everything on social media is curated, people show what they want you to see, the fact people take 20 pics to find the “perfect” selfie and slap a filter on it just shows how fake it is, nothing you see is reality yet you compare yourself to fakeness, so many of us feel the same way about social media and feeling like our lives aren’t enough, social media is toxic, I’ve done the same this new year I deleted socials and want to focus on my mental health and my goals, things that actually matter.

    • @KindlyChristina

I’m sooo glad you shared about your experience and are making a difference this new year. I agree, we set ourselves up to compare to a standard that isn’t even real. The best self care you can do for yourself is separating yourself from something that doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of your life. I’m hoping through deleting your socials you’re finding true peace, fulfillment, and happiness in all you do. So happy for you ♥️ and of course, thank you for watching and your comment!!

@Daughter of God SDA for me personally, I text, pick up the phone, or go visit them :) It really makes the connections I have feel more valuable and I can connect more deeply (sometimes less frequently but this is it’s own bonus in some ways that may be for another video) than more frequently but also more passively. thanks for your comment btw :)✨

I deleted instagram, snapchat, tiktok and the rest at the start of the year, and i can say that it has been the best decision i've ever made. I find joy in things that i used to find boring like learning a language, the guitar, i have a better attention span which helps me with my schoolwork, I don't need to reach for the little dopamine hits anymore. My one guilty pleasure is youtube, but at least i learn from it a lot, and the videos are primarily long-format, that you can engage with and come out with a solid understanding of something meaningful. Overall, I am happier since deleting all those apps.

    Fantastic Video.
We don't need to know what's happening in other people's lives Nor they do need to know what's happening in ours. Very few people will like and be happy from the heart when they see you doing good in life. This is human nature.
Joy and happiness lies within ourselves.
Rest is all show off , jealousy and hatred.

really love this perspective. this is exactly what I was hoping would be gotten across. there’s a fine line with everything but the motive nowadays seems more competitive than anything. Most of it ego. The less we focus on ourselves, the better. Personally, I’ve found joy and fulfillment doesn’t even lie within me. Every time I’ve tried to find it in my own strength, it was counterfeit and I ultimately was disappointed. The only One who has delivered an abundance of joy and fulfillment in my life has been Jesus Christ. And anything keeping me from my eyes on Him, including social media, saps all that peace so quickly. Loved your insight and I’m appreciative for your comment!

I have been off social media since November of last year due to my account being hacked. It was a nightmare for the first several weeks because they were impersonating me and contacting my contacts. Eventually the account was deleted and as a result I closed all my other social media accounts. It has been the best thing that has happened to me! I agree with everything you said. People post everything on Facebook and now I understand why privacy matters!

When I met my husband from Seattle, I left Social media and we're together for years and since he passed I am single for over 20+ years. He was a musician and I became one too. He almost taught me everything about music. I was singing and playing instruments in my younger days. He made who I am today and God. If he was here today, he would be happy for me, like I was for him. Stay encouraged and enjoy your husband and life to best you can.

I permanently deleted my social media (instagram & facebook, keeping UA-cam as this isn’t toxic to me at all) a year ago.
My teens and twenties were consumed by what others thought of me. I didn’t know who I was, all I did was compare my life to others. I slept through life. I was miserable.
Now my anxiety is so super low. I figured out what makes me happy. I’m proactive, motivated, very driven and happy. My relationships are great, my self-esteem is better than ever. I finally committed to hobbies I always wanted to try and guess what! I found the time to get good at them too! The biggest lesson I learnt is that every day I have less and less time on earth. Time is not a given. Don’t waste it on these apps. Go live your freaking life!

This is my opinion social media shouldn’t exist. Social media affects mental health. Posting the good parts of your life is weird. We don’t show the behind the scenes it’s all fake. Why are we so obsessed with deceiving others. People compare their lives to others. A lot of people don’t post pictures without filters. All of us are lying to each other about our lives. Social media is addicting. Especially the short videos almost every platform has now. It makes our attention span shorter and can lead to adhd. We waste hours on these platforms when we could be doing other things that are productive. We could have found the cure to herpes hiv cancer but we waste hours looking on our phones. Social media is making people anti social and have anxiety. People rather talk online than in person. Humans need human interaction. Social media can put people life in danger. People can track where you are. Strangers can groom minors. People are meeting up with people they meet online and being killed because the person on social media is fake. There are other ways to stay connected without social media. Before social media people stayed connected by talking on the phone or texting. Which is less addicting. On social media platforms there algorithms that keep us addicted to the app. Before social media people went out and met new people and had human interaction instead of only online. Seeing other people post fake pictures showing only the good parts of their lives isn’t staying connected. Staying connected is communication. Most people don’t use social media to find out news and if you do use social media for that purpose you can find out news other ways by cable tv by watching actual news companie or using news only platforms. Social media isn’t the most reliable news anyway. Some people might say social media is good to promote your business. There are other ways to promote your business without using an addictive platform. There is radio cable tv streaming apps billboards news paper cable news etc

This video is super good, I've been watching "how deleting social media changed my life" videos left and right and you really made amazing points that other videos haven't talked about. As someone who is a gen z; everything and everyone is on social media and you're looked as weird if you don't have tiktok or don't use certain apps that everyone else is using. I feel like the world has gone dull, everyone has the same opinion about everything, everyone has the same mindset, everyone wants to be famous or be viral and they'll do anything to get fame. I'm just starting my actual detox of social media(the other times I fell back in lol),, so I can have time for my goals- and I don't want to waste anymore time mindless scrolling than I already have. This is my first time seeing your videos, keep it up! Loved this 💕

Thank you SO much for your kind words! It really is my goal to add value to peoples lives, not just create content for the views or money or whatever it is that motivates people now a days. Comments like yours really push me to keep going so thank you SO much 💗 I think you’re so right, the world is so much more bland when everyone has the same interests, mindset, and experiences. It takes a lot of effort to think outside the box and it’s something that social media has really stolen from humans i think. I know you’re definitely making the right choice, separating yourself undoubtedly will give you the space to work towards your goals and ultimately reach them ✨ thank you again so much for your comment and I’m so glad you’re here!!

@@KindlyChristina No problem, I can tell you love creating content for the sake of creating 💞 and yeah social media really steals a lot from us humans, it steals our creativity, our attention and most importantly our time. Last time I did a detox I went 4-5 days without any social media but I fell back in; it really shows how addictive it can be. I want to be a creator instead of a consumer so I'll start creating more content for my UA-cam since it was something I was really passionate about when I was younger, burning with ideas and I had a lot of time because I didn't use social media. @@KindlyChristina i forgot to mention my most important experience: when yesterday I saw some nice evening sunset mood, my first thought was : „Oh, I need to take a photo of it and share it on my insta“…only to realize some second later that there is no profile to post anymore. So, now I think: I can share it…with myself!…and I think that is to just use another term: making memories. And maybe one day I am gonna share them with someone. Or maybe not. But the best lesson which I took from that is: I train my brain to forget sharing things in real time. And instead being completely lost and enjoying the moment. And last thought: You want to know what kind of woman attracts me most, let‘s say in a Café: the one who is lost in a book or watching people or talk to someone with 100 percent focus instead of gazing all the time to her phone on the table. Happy to follow your channel and future Videos, Christina. It's a joy to watch and listen to what you say!

I love this video, it's one of my favourite "leaving social media" videos that I've watched because you are so honest about it and I think I resonated with so much of what you said. As a parent, I have been trying to be more present for my kids and trying my best not to be on my phone when they talk to me or want to show me something and it's hard because a lot of my work emails I respond to on the phone, but I found it was worse when I was using social media, instagram in particular. I would just be scrolling and not even hear what they were saying until they would leave me alone and then I would realize "oh wait! They were trying to tell me something!" I have only been off of Instagram for a week (it's my only problematic social media as the other ones I don't use as often or some not at all) and now I see it in my husband. We are at the dinner table and he is just scrolling on the phone and it annoys me so much when I'm trying to be present, I definitely know he doesn't realize it and it's not doing it on purpose, but I can now see what it looks like from a third person perspective. Thanks for the video.

Hi! First of all, your kind words mean so much. THANK YOU! And I understand how hard it is. I have struggled with this myself even since posting this video simply because I started my own small business in which social media really could help. The balance is HARD but I find myself just continuing to put it back down every time I feel the urge. You are not alone and your children and family are going to be so grateful in the long-run for the decision you’ve made. I did get back on mid march and I'm back to being so addicted. I just keep scrolling through reels and being so stressed. I really don't think our minds are made to know/see so much. It’s been 1 year since I deleted social media and I never felt better, the constant comparison to other peoples life’s really ruined my way of thinking and my self confidence. I am still A LOT on my phone and hopefully I will be able to change that too. I am looking forward to buying myself a digital clock to wake up, books, art stuff and maybe a flip phone or something similar too. We don’t need all of this, yes it can be nice here and there but it is ruining us. Me being 21 years old, and having no memories except for what I wrote about with my friends and what memes were shared, I am really sad. I wasted my teens doing nothing except for being on my phone. I wish I would’ve gone outside and explored Stuff and did things. But my friends are still only on their phone. I just wish phones never really evolved to what they are now. I mean only the necessary stuff like GPS or online banking and dialing. But not a tool to waste and suck up all of our time and energy. I see kids, little children, teenagers, only being on their phone while they are hanging out with their friends or parents. Even my parents are only on the screen, every time I try to talk to them they won’t listen, they won’t even put their heads up to look at me. I really hope gen z will see that this is not right and change things for everyone.

I feel this so hard friend, it’s so tough knowing how deep this whole social media stuff has gotten. It’s even harder when we want to get rid of it yet for some, that’s how they make money and live. It’s such a horrific catch 22. I just wish I was born in the 1800’s or something tbh. Yes that would’ve had its own challenges but man, society is just evolving at a rate and in a way that is so hard to accept yet so easy. It’s very conflicting. I feel you friend, stay strong!!!

Really great input from this video. I like listening to people who deleted their social media.
Here's my story if someone is interested: My social media use was focused on different apps over about 15 years, more than half my life tbh. First it was facebook, scrolling during my teen years as I didnt have a smartphone back then. Slowly replaced by snapchat at the start of my 20s for a bit with my first smarphone, and the last 7 years mostly Instagram. Spinkling in some youtube and reddit here and there. I've been more anxious, less focused and for the last 2-3 y surely also with a light to medium depression. I've hit rock bottom these last weeks mentally and decided to delete them except youtube (keeping away from shorts tho, they have that addictive potential) as it runs in the background sometimes while I draw, clean or cook. I already feel slightly better as I know I gotta take care of me first and social media has never done that for me. The people I love are not on there, they are here with me and max a phone call away if I need them. We'll see how it goes but for now I finally have more time to spend on all the projects I wanted to tackle.

I deleted all of my social media accounts 2 years ago and now I've reached a point where I want to use a flip-phone ('dumbphone' - Sunbeam F1 Pro) and a laptop exclusively. If someone would like to communicate with me, then they can call and we can have a conversation. I listen to FM radio in the car, so zero need for streaming music while driving. If I need directions, then I'll buy US road atlas and perhaps a small Garmin navigation device for the car. I've felt a tremendous need to return to analog world, where things are real and tangible. I own two small Fuji cameras that take remarkable photos, I've been enjoying getting back to photography instead of relying on computation Apple magic which saves my photos in a super condensed file which makes editing them impossible. I'm currently reading Jonathan Haidt's new book 'The Anxious Generation' which details the rewiring of America's youth (Gen Z and beyond) due to having a phone/screen based childhood, rather then a play-based childhood. I support your stance and decisions to better your life. Embrace reality and your individualism, and seek out genuine relationships based in actual communication.

i feel that, i kept my accounts and occasionally (usually monthly or bi monthly) i i will briefly log in to catch up on what’s going on with friends and family! It’s a process, and sometimes weening is helpful, i feel the struggle! thanks for your comment :)

I started off small by keeping my accounts as well and recently got to a point where I felt comfortable to delete them 100% and not feel the need to check in on them once and a while. Those who need to contact me and those I want to keep up with have my phone number! I can send pictures and vice versa through texts if need be. It’s baby steps!

UA-cam is social media. Watching porn is also as damaging as social media. Girl, we should rebuild the society to feel finally fine without anxiety.

totally agree, there’s lots of work that needs to be done. I think it starts with less phone time in general though and then you can mold other habits around it. Thanks for your comment!

Hey Christina , really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with Best Quality Editing in your videos better than your Editor with good pricing and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail which will help your videos to reach to a wider audience ? Pls let me know what do you think ?

Hey Malek, thanks for reaching out! At this time I prefer to edit my videos myself to keep them as natural and relatable as possible. I also really enjoy the process :) I appreciate it though!
