  • The Cascadia 4x4 VSS (Vehicle Specific Solar) system if offered for the 2015+ Ford F-150, as well as several Jeep platforms, Tacomas, Tundras, the Xterra, and more... www.cascadia4x4.com/collectio...
In this video I talk about my experience with the F-150 platform. Why I chose the VSS. How the components are installed and used. And what my experience with the system has been over the past couple of months.
    Additional information from Cascadia 4x4...
    - 85 watts of energy on the hood of your 2015+ Ford F-150 from a solar panel that's only 3mm thick, meaning vehicle aerodynamics are not affected and the weight of the system is negligible.
    - Durable marine-grade solar panel construction. The panel is made from 8 laminated layers consisting of fiberglass and high tech polymers allowing it to stand up to harsh environmental conditions like rain/snow/ice/mud/rocks/sticks etc. High durability makes this panel perfect for an off-road vehicle.
    - Optional Plug-and-play MPPT solar charge controller. This waterproof unit mounts in the engine bay and is highly resistant to heat and vibration. It automatically controls how much electricity reaches the battery and prevents overcharging. The charge controller has been pre-wired with fuses, terminals, and connectors to take out all of the guesswork in setting up the VSS System™.
    - The optional but highly recommended custom cut vinyl base sheet protects the underlying vehicle paint from damage.
    - Factory-like appearance. The VSS System™ follows the contours and edges of the Tacoma's hood perfectly giving it a seamless and sleek aesthetic.
    - We add strips of 3M neoprene foam to the base of each panel. This high density foam acts as a thermal barrier to protect your vehicle's paint from damage and also aid in solar panel cooling.
    - Final assembly and quality control is done at our Canadian production facility to ensure that every VSS System™ functions perfectly. At Cascadia 4x4 we stand behind the quality of our products.

Best review on this product. I’m looking at the one that fits Jeep JK. Really appreciate your efforts making this review.
This will be used with the main battery of the Jeep but also the output leads will be directly to a Jackery which powers my Iceco fridge.
This setup will work much nicer than my current setup. Currently my Jackery pulls from the Jeep battery till it hits 12.2 volts and then runs from the Jackery the rest of The night. If.I don’t start the Jeep after 4 day’s which is typical the fridge looses power.

Helpful video! I ordered their recently release PRINSU roof rack solar panel and this was nice to give me an install base. It’s going into a Toyota.

Thank you for the informative video/review. Like you, I do a lot of dry camping, and I'm curious to know what you think about the 2021 F150 Onboard Generator system/s. Thank you in advance.

Wow, that is cool. Where did you get and how did you install the Switch Panel. That is cool also.

Just installed mine on my JK, can confirm all the praise you gave for this system. I like your idea of the voltmeter and will totally install one, is it wired to the battery or are using a switch or relay to power it on?

      @MarkTheFark  3 роки тому +4

You can tap into any power source for the voltmeter. It hardly draws any power and I have mine tapped to a constant so that I can see the voltage even when the truck isn't running or on accessory power.

I know it is 6 months later, but whomever interested, you can get the voltmeter with the switch now, so you can tap it in to the live power and control it's operation through the built in switch...

Can this solar panel be used to charge the leisure/house batteries as well as the starter battery at the same time?

How does the panel deal with bird droppings'? Would it wipe off no problem without damaging the panel?

What happens when you wash your truck, have you had any issues with the panel coming off?

After many months of non-stop exposure to the elements (my truck is never garaged), the panel looks as good and secure as it did the day I installed it. I absolutely love it.

Hi I’m reaching out to anyone that has one of these panels. I am on my third panel due to defects. I’m trying to find out if anyone else has had issues as far as defects I would like to hear about it. When this panel is installed with my system it works great. I have the redarc BCDC charging system for my dual batteries and with that and the solar panel my batteries are always fully charged but I’ve had two previous panels with defects and they’re sending me a third one which is arriving tomorrow I’d really like to hear if you’ve had any issues thank you.

Yes, way overpriced. A quality 100w panel on Amazon goes for about 85 bucks. I like the looks of it, but way over priced for the low wattage.
