As a huge fan of your channel, it's surreal to watch you dive deep into something that I had a hand in creating. You showcased the book in the same way that I hoped a reader might enjoy it - envisioning yourself exploring these worlds, fighting these bosses, or using these weapons. This video was a nice way for me to close the chapter on Soul Arts, and look forward to the next thing. I'm glad our paths intersected with this book! I hope some of your fans enjoy it too. Cheers Adam
I'm so happy you enjoyed it Michael - I don't think I've ever enjoyed a book review more than this one. It's the first one that I consider a "personal" project. Thank you so much for trusting me with this important project - I can't wait to see what you come up with next!
Michael is amazing, very kind and thoughtfull with all his emails. He was very patient with me and cared so much that everyone gets what they ask for. I have never felt so appriciated as during these competitions. I have the honour of being featured in the book alongside all of the amazing artists and it feels surreal. I still cannot believe it happened.
I feel so honored Adam that you talked about my work. Means a lot to me! I've been actually listening to your videos while I was working on the very concepts you showcased in this video. I’m glad to be a part of this great project and I look forward to receiving the book too!
Hey Adam. Wanted to pass along a heartfelt thank-you from our team for this gorgeous showcase of Soul Arts. Your shared love of Miyazaki's work and (yes) lucid reflections on what makes them special is a big highlight of sending this book out into the world. Glad you enjoyed it, and so intuitively "got" that ineffable Souls feeling we were striving to capture with its design.
Is this Andrew Hind? Whether you are or aren’t, please let me tell you just how much you’ve raised the bar on art book quality and presentation This was clearly a work of meticulous passion - I own very few books that come even close to this level of polish What a success! And of course, a big thank you :)
@@AdamDuffArt Jason, T&F founder here. Appreciate the encouraging words. There's a making-of video on our channel that digs into the philosophy behind the book's creation and you get a peek inside the Italian printer who helped us bring it all to life. It obviously takes a team of talented designers and artisans to pull a project like this together. More to come! (Quite soon in fact)
Oh my god I've been waiting to see you fanboy over this book for months! My entry was Fionnuala under the Elden Ring Boss section, I cannot be more thankful for the opportunity to contribute to a project of this magnitude!
Waiting for my copy too, want to hold it in my hands so badly. My entry is an Eldritch Gunslinger Grimwald, which is my contribution to Imagining Bloodborne II contest. Got a single page dedicated to it, so happy to be the part of this great project! Thank you for your work Adam, sending love from Ukraine! ❤️
Thank you for everything you do Adam, I love your artbook reviews immensely and I feel extremely fortunate and humbled just to be one of the benefactor's that helped fund and bring this project to life, even if it's only a small amount, to see all of our names acknowledged in the back of the book is like signing what I believe to be a piece of history in the making. Much love to everyone involved.
I still can´t believe im included in this book even though i couldnt paint everything i had planned to do, i still managed to get a meaningful one out, incredible participants, incredible video and i can´t thank Vaati enough. Excited for a new competition haha. Best Regards to you Adam
Sir, I've been a fan for a long time and I must say: Your production quality is becoming something to behold. I hope you keep improving as much as you have helped me with my art. Thank you for all the content you have porivided us. Leo.
Hey Adam, I know that my post is not matching with the content of the video, but I just wanted to thank you. In the past I had a lot of problems with my self-esteem and mental health. I'm a designer and struggled a lot... But you helped me to push trough everything. Thanks to you I didn't give up! I can now say that I'm healthy and happy again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Adam! ❤️
I just got this book from my sis who lives in Dublin. I feel so privileged to be able to read, and admire the art. I must be the only one in Taiwan lucky enough to page through this book.
The sheer love, care, and respect for the artists radiates immensely from this video! I discovered your channel from Vaati, and immediately subscribed. The aesthetic, from the shot selection and B roll to the tasteful animations, is just fantastic. As a fellow artist (musician/composer) I can’t wait to delve into your prior and future videos, and soon buy your work to display around my Baby Grand piano. Thank you!
I always kept looking forward to these art contests, the book was instant choice, first thing I ever backed on any crowdfunding. The rider fighting Nuckelavee from Elden Ring contest was huge character design influence for me.
Shout out to Ricardo Emig (who illustrated the cover) for being an absolute LEGEND of an artist, and also an incredibly kind person who offered me heaps of advice and insight when I reached out to him after seeing his video for Vaati's Bloodborne contest. His work is brilliant, and criminally underrated! ua-cam.com/video/ASCB8cbYgzo/v-deo.html
Yes ive heard the style being called "Show dont tell" style of storytelling which i absolutely love as well. It suggests something by showing the viewer something powerful & with many possible implications but not to ascribe outright narrative dictating what definitively happened. This allows the viewer to participate in the artwork itself, ultimately deciding for themselves what they think really happened and thus participate in the storytelling with their own imagination!
The video quality is crazy. It seems that UA-cam's file compression does not affect your channel. It's amazing the quality of the shots, for real. Just as the book. What a beautiful piece. I will add it to the shopping list at the 1st place !
Loved this video! Great analysis of the project and I really enjoyed the differents comments you give on the ideas of the different pieces. I came over from Vaati's video and I couldn't help but notice that mention of you being a Beksiński fan. I'm personally not the biggest art person, but I really appreciate art and the people behind the brushes, screens, etc. What I wanted to comment on might be out of context, but it's about a game called "Scorn" coming out this year, I believe. The artstyle is heavily inspired by both Beksiński and Giger, which are the two that really piqued my interested when it comes to art. Therefore I wanted to mention that in case it piques your interest! Cheers!
It's funny, sitting down, opening photoshop and pinterest, click on art talk playlist and begin to paint has became my painting routine. I'm sure I'm not the only one
I already ordered this book when it was first announced, saw the Vaati video, but this still gets me more excited to deep dive into the printed book (when it arrives!), thank you for that. I only have one comment, I didn't know this channel but just subscribed!: I believe it's not usual for you to showcase books, based on your other videos, but the light here could use some work. You can still see the designs, but the reflections indeed hide part of the pages. I don't have a solution to offer, but I thought to mention it in case you showcase a book in some other time.
Hey Juan! I actually have many book reviews, it’s a fairly regular part of my channel That said, the glossy pages are often a bit of a challenging obstacle - I’m realizing that manually shifting the page is the only easy way to mitigate the 3 bright light sources Definitely going to be more conscious of that moving forward
Human warmth truly makes pain softer. An embrace, a nod of acceptance, a loving gesture. The background fades ever so slightly and all the sharp insecurities, the painful reminders, the muddy stillnes of a sinking heart melt for a moment. A home is mended, a blue candle is shielded from the wind. The pain can journey from inside, through tears and cries, into the world and remind us how much we need each other. Reach. There will be a hand waiting for you. Even for the skin too thick to break, even for the artist with lady pain betrothed and even for the wanderer that lost their star. We are walking side by side not even at arms length. Why is it that we don’t reach? No matter how one deprives themselves from it, they cannot forget how this warmth soothes the soul. I really wonder how you and Michael can do that from so far away.
