- Dopamine is a depressive black/shoegaze band from China. The song is from the Split The World Comes To An End In The End Of A Journey 2009.. Soon I'll upload the other bands that played in the Split.. enjoy it..
I don't agree with it. Without vocals it would be worse. Harsh vocals is not for everyone, but the ones who like it, enjoy it a lot. Some years ago I didn't like it too, but now I can see beauty of it.
I enjoy both sides with vocals and just instrumentals because I found a three box set where we can enjoy normal release sound and instrumental songs
Black metal is either abstract black and white or really beautiful colorful art
I'm so glad I have experienced the era of Black metal shoegaze from like 2005-2010. These songs will stay with me for a lifetime. I keep coming back to them. I'm thankful this genre happened and went down in history as some of the best music ever made.
I think I'm also happy that it pretty much died because if it would've been continued for too long it would've been milked to death and be overcrowded with too much material. This happens to music genres all the time. They lose their charm because everyone hops on it. That's something that never happened to this genre because it just lost activity and went down in history (as something great).
Late comment but i agree with you bro, it was a unique experience giving out unique songs, bands like alcest that got "mainstream" still do it but old songs like this one give out a unique experience.
I myself just started listen to black metal in the late 2017 and I used to hate black metal music that not qualify as trve kvlt . I used to hate melodic BM , Blackgaze , 1st Wave black metal , DSBM , War metal , Symphonic BM . Yup , I used to be black metal elitist asshole . Skip forward to 2020 , Covid happened and I'm being forced to expand my taste as I has listened almost all black metal subgenre that I considered 'pure' has to offer. Now I in love with blackgaze , post black , DSBM, crust punk , Blackened Sludge , Blackened doom even fucking deathcore.

This song beautifully captures the essence of depression! I don't know if the band/the songwriter has their own experience with it (I assume they do), but this is a perfect example for how music is the perfect medium to capture emotions.
I've had depressions my whole life and the beautiful mix of melancholy and desperation (the screaming) is very soothing to me.
In general, I find this kind of music or all sorts of metal to be highly relaxing and especially China has given us some great talents. I also recommend 101A from Japan.

Listened to this song a year ago because I was really wasn’t in the best head space at the time. Came back now to listen to it because I remember it being good… it seems I do not feel the same. Could be that I was feeling different a year ago, or a change in music taste. But regardless, this song is very hard to listen to, very much a goth song or something

I really like this song although people keep calling this depressive black metal. There's no such thing as depressive black metal, black metal is by nature depressive because is suppose to sound evil, calling to the anger and hate and all dark emotions on human beings sublimating them with music, so calling it depressive black metal is redundant anyways this a great song.
Depressive black metal, or DSBM, is a thing. Sounding evil isn't sounding depressive, is it?
guys really who even cares what genre it is, its inspired by black metal, post-metal, its very noisy and abrasive like other bands including boris, you can call it whatever the hell you want. i just listen to music and enjoy it

Well... IMO it is the thrash segment that really does it in for me. I can appriciate all that sourrounds that segment but I being an old purist.. feel like it doesnt fit. That is all.

@shadows08 Purist. You can call it Depressive Black but it is Thrash/Prog Rock/Shoegaze/IndieAlt/Emo/Screamo/Dark Metal. That is what it is IMO. Just becuse a person points out what he/she doesnt like or has an opinion on what it really is does not mean they are pretentious.. and anyone can scream a bunch of garbled words over music but does that mean they are singin? Nope..

a question. one of my friends listens too much dopamine. i think he is in depression, is this true or the band just makes him cool, i have other music tastes and i don t understand the balck metal so good
Don't ever base whst others see in a musical piece based on what you see. You will see different things. If you fear he's depressed, talk about how he's feeling. Don't connect musical taste with mental health, it will only make things worse.
Listening to black metal does not necessarily mean you're depressed; that would be like saying reading The Odyssey means you believe in Greek mythology. He would only be depressed if he actually seems to be unconnected to his life in a way that is unusual for him, like if he seems more emotionless or sad than usual.
