It’s a pretty unique take, and the “pinch mode” Eyes of Madness is a really cool gimmick, and it’s also pretty funny how the eyes and mouths appearing on the Wall remind me of Walnut Bowling from PVZ.
I absolutely love this rework of the Wall of Flesh, it seems much more challenging than just "oh no I need to dodge these lasers and fire at the eyes of the wall", as you have to account for the mouths literally tearing off and flying right at you, the eyes having more than one attack, the Hungry not being tethered to the Wall itself whatsoever, and then the Eyes of Madness section which caught me by surprise. I don't know what to say, I just love this rework in its entirety. Take my sub!
thats actually super cool. i think instead of just spawning a bunch the hungry the wall launches a ton at you kinda like the mouth attack. also the red tone on the madness phase is a little much but other than that this was super cool and interesting. each boss i see has me more and more intrigued with what youre going to do in hardmode. cant wait to get my hands on this
Make the wall of flesh an actual wall the consumes the background of hell. It would have random eyes and mouths, you’d have to hammer round those spots to try and find hearts to crush to kill it.
I had the same idea except that the wall approaches you from each four directions to catch you in the middle and you have to create more space for yourself by knocking it back.
I once had an idea where when the wall would reach the end of the map it would create black smoke and disappear through it and teleport behind the player so it would go in the opposite direction
This is actually some pretty good use of projectile spam, and also a really interesting take on the final phase of a wall. I might take some notes in case I ever make a Wall rework of my own.
I think the addition of the eyes makes the whole "Rapidly speeds up at low HP" shtick more interesting. Before it really starts accelerating, you've got to get as much distance as you can while avoiding the various slowly homing eyes scattered around.
I really like it! It is definitely an interesting take on the boss. However, I do have two points of criticism, with the first being the arena work required for the boss and the second regarding some of the attacks not really fitting with the theme of gore, like the ice bolts and maybe the purple energy bolts
While the first one is completely valid, I believe the ice bolts are there because of the fact that WoF is a guardian of hardmode and there are certainly much more freeze rays in hardmode. WoF is supposed to release souls onto the world when defeated, these souls are inside of it, and it makes the souls attack the player kind of like in flowey bossfight
@@fryderyksadocha8044if thats the case then we should see some jungle-like attacks and maybe a sandstorm of some kind, maybe even a rainbow attack to show the hallow
You can sorta justify the ice bolts if you think about it a little The WoF is the world's core and guardian, so you can say it's harnessing the elemental energies of the world or something
It seems pretty weird to me that a boss fought in hot hell has an ice attack, i would change that one to the lasers the wall fires in vanilla. I would also make the shadowflame attack have a bit less projectiles, as you can get overwhelmed really quick if you do not have a huge arena. Another solution would be to make those projectiles not go through walls, so you can hide behind walls when the projectiles become too much. The last phase also seems very difficult without a huge arena, as dodging the eyes would be difficult when you don't have as much space as shown in the video.
I had the attack be ice themed because I wanted it to seem like the Wall of Flesh has powers related to other biomes, but I do see the appeal of making it lasers instead, so I might do that. As for your other points I might deal with all of those issues by making the fight take place in its own sub-world with a pre-built arena
The eye of madness part. I happen to be playing a shit ton of the deltarune ribbit mod and that is extremely similar to the attacks of that mods fimal boss, i expect that that wasnt intentional but its a sick coincidence
@@portalmech4770 Ty for the reply but I already have that stuff and need every buff and tons of defense to do over 10k I think to the wof though I think I can do it but I’ll need some luck to kill it
do you think you can make it drop an upgraded Hammer? or make it more useful? because i basically just use them for gold. maybe 10 hammers gets you a thors hammer or something? Btw your boss fights are awesome, i hope you get to quit your job
Well, first we'd need to figure out what this hammer does. Right now the Pwnhammer's uses are destroyed demon altars, hammering blocks, and breaking walls. Would this upgraded hammer do all those things better, or would it gain some new functionality?
@portalmech4770 I heavily recommend another function to the "upgraded Pwnhammer", like making it useful for Melee combat or something to help with constructions and walls. turning it into a Magic weapon to fire thunderbolts(following Thor's hammer idea) would sound cool.
Do the eyes and mouths of the Wall have less defense than the main body of the wall? If not then you don't really have any offensive strategy other than hold mouse and go left (or right).
@@portalmech4770 It has some really neat concepts, but I would not call it the best. Many of its attack patterns feel overly basic and same-y, and it looks like it would take forever to mine out an arena sizeable enough to make the fight work out. I like the idea of having the wall create eyes and mouths for different attacks, but I think the attacks themselves would need to be completely different for this to work out.
@@jimboanimations4041 I've come to believe that there is a certain beauty in simplicity. For this case, I would argue that each attack serves its purpose and challenges the player in its own unique fashion, does it in a reasonably flashy way, and is pretty fair yet challenging at the same time. I could go further still, but all I wanted to do was improve on the original Wall of Flesh concept, and to that extent I believe I've thoroughly succeeded, especially with the panic phase at the end. ...And about the arena, although I used an arena that would indeed take hours to make, I completed the fight on Master Mode with no buff potions active, so I'm willing to bet that most players could beat it with buff potions on Expert mode with a less over-the-top arena setup
I definitely could, but the only purpose in that would be to make the phase shorter, and I think the current length is optimal. I guess if a lot of people complain about the last phase being too long after the mod is published I can try tweaking it
i have no respect towards any wall of flesh fight that relies on a huge arena no one would be able to make by hand. for infernum, you have onyx excavator to help you with making a bigger than usual arena, for fargo's souls you have double obsidian instabridges, and i don't know the rest. so, i can't judge from the footage if it requires a big arena or not (since you chose a big one), but if it does, will you make an easy way to make one?
Now, combine it with the ability in For the worthy where it now summons 3 Imps throughout the fight which the Imps itself can also summon a fireballs that cannot be destroyed by anything, and also the damage from these and the wall's attack are substantially increase. This is ̶a̶ ̶p̶u̶r̶e̶ ̶n̶i̶g̶h̶t̶m̶a̶r̶e̶ impossible to beat
You definitely made the Wall of Flesh a lot more intimidating

Something I've noticed with all of your reworks (Or at least most of them) is that they make playing melee a challenge run
It's true. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the original fight, but I did want to take a different approach
As someone who plays ranged I see this as an absolute win

Ngl the final phase and the chaos ball spam attacks seem like they would be really unfair to deal with if you don't have a somewhat optimized arena.

Not gonna lie, i dont care if what you said about this is satire but i actually think its a good rework. It just needs some tweaking and balancing.
If you have anything particular in mind feel free to let me know
That's really cool!
Cool but making the fight require you to decimate half of hell is really annoying and it seems a lot of mods that change WoF tend to do that
I love the rework but I’m stuck on the boss and want tips on how to make it easier to kill, without clearing out the underworld if possible
Well, for equipment I'd recommend Molten Armor + Crypt Gun. Beyond that I don't know if there's much I can suggest besides blowing up the Underworld
