Legit one of the most underrated actors EVER
Agree
It’s impossible to get away from people who misuse “underrated”.
@cwg73160 but he is underrated
U nvr ever hear people say......
Hey u know who's a really good under appreciated actor
Ol Oliver Platt
Tho I'm curious please explain to me how I used it wrong
I'm not above reproach
@@cwg73160 what would you call it?
@@slappydoodle Just because YOU don’t hear people talking about a certain person, thing, or place, it doesn’t mean that person or thing is underrated.
Are Cary Grant, Paul Newman, and John Turturro underrated because they’re not talked about very often? No. They’re widely recognized as great actors, just like Oliver Platt. Did you ever ask yourself why Rich Eisen would ask Oliver Platt to appear on his show? Do you think it’s good for business to have a guest who isn’t popular?
He made The Three Musketeers a great movie for a young me! I always thought he was a great actor…and he still is!!
Loved him as Oliver Babish in The West Wing.
I was thinking the same. The West Wing was one of the all-time best drama series.
His first scene with the recorder thingy was comedy gold.
Ah, "The West Wing." Might as well have been a 100 years ago at this point.
One of my all-time favorites. No matter the movie, he always shows up and is one of the most entertaining on screen.
So true. Loved him in Lake Placid, Bicentennial Man and The Three Musketeers.
He was great in Digstown!
Yes!! How does Rich skip that one?!
@@jacobbruce161Personal Foul, 15 yards ...
Way more people need to see it. A ton of great actors in it but James Woods at his smarmy best was more than worth the price of admission.
Diggstown
Anyone else remember him as the nerd who chews on the straw and also defusing the bomb in Executive Decision?
Hell yeah I remember that.
@@cammacisaac9966 Great movie, especially when Segal gets sucked out of the plane. 😆
@@camschuster5947 we aren't going to make it. YOU WILL! Segals best acting EVER
I 1st saw him in lake placid and thought oh this is a jolly fellow I like him, then exec decision
Colonel were not gonna make it u will (seagals best acting chops lol) he's just in so many things that he blends super well
@@thethomasj1795 hahaha swears I just left the same comment without having read urs 1st
Hahah 👊
I've always loved Oliver's acting. So many good roles. I just watched Lake Placid again last night, and his character is so much fun.
I love Platt. He is great. One of my favorite roles was the swarmy lawyer he played ina Time to Kill. He was perfect. You could hear him sweating because it was so hot and he was a robust man at the time.
Always liked Oliver Platt. Never a leading man but instantly made any movie he was in better.
Love seeing him on the Bear.
Loved him in Diggstown. Very underrated movie!!!
More people need to know about that movie than currently do. Great movie and great cast.
Big fan of that movie too, and of Oliver's hilarious portrayal of Fitzy
Oliver Platt in the Ice Harvest with John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton, etc. steals the movie as Pete VanHeuten. “I think I scraped my tummy” is so damn funny for a giant guy like Oliver.
Yes, this is what movie I think of.
John Cusack is another one of those actors that you wonder why they aren't better known.
You got Oliver Placid himself!!
He was fabulous in that!
I went to The American School In Japan ASIJ. Oliver was there the year before I got there in 1975.
WE LOVED YOU ON THE WEST WING! The scene with the tape recorder is CLASSIC! And the "She would be me" scene in "A Time to Kill" is great! ONLY YOU could make me take my eyes off of Sandra Bullock, especially when she's dressed in black! YOW!
Underrated actor! This guy came out in all my childhood movies
His role in Bulworth was hysterical.
I met him in 2013 at SXSW. Super nice guy.
2012! I think Rich is a fantastic interviewer! Thanks, RE!!
He also does some great voice over for PBS docs and other historical shows!
Marvelous character actor... Love him.
Find 'Diggstown.'
He's such a great actor. Three Musketeers & Bicentennial Man are two of my favorites
My favorite Oliver Platt movie is Gun Shy, with Liam Neeson and Sandra Bullock.
Loved him Flatliners
I would have like to see him talk about Ice Harvest. A dark comedy starring John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton and Randy Quaid. Platt's performance was amazing in that.
Always liked this guy!
He’s great in a move called The Ice Harvest. Also a delight in a Laurel and Hardy style comedy he wrote and directed with his pal Stan Tucci called The Imposters.
Diggstown and Chef are masterpieces and he’s a scene stealer in both.
"I will rule you!" -Jimmy King
He’s fantastic as Dr Charles in Chicago Med
I like Oliver Platt as an actor. He made the Three Musketeers, and he was great in Lake Placid.
He was so good in The Ice Harvest!
'Funny Bones'. What an odd and wonderful movie. Required viewing just for pure British comedic culture (and a lovely soundtrack).
He is SO funny in Lake Placid 😊
Season 18? Of Miami Vice? I wish man 😂😂😂
Loved Oliver since The Three Musketeers and Dangerous Beauty.
I'm an outlier here, but I think the man is hot 🔥. Love talent.
I remember seeing the trailer for Three Musketeers and any time he was in it I laughed.
LOVED HIM IN “LAKE PLACID” AND “A TIME TO KILL”
Oliver Platt has had so many amazing roles...you touched on none of them
Aw man, how did Rich not bring up Diggstown? James Woods, Lou Gossett Jr, Bruce Dern, and Michael Richie; there gotta be some stories from that movie.
Wow I used to live in Westboro pretty close to Tufts
My favorite character from Lake Placid. Him and Betty White should've done a scene together.
old school dude, i dig him
Loved Oliver in The Ice Harvest. Can't think of another character who considered his wife's first husband his best friend.
Such a great movie that takes a hard left into........that no one saw coming.
Platt playing Steinbrenner looks like Frank Caliendo.
He absolutely stole Casanova with his portrayal of Paprizzio. LOL Completely authentic Commedia dell'arte.
Great actor
Loved him in A Time To Kill.
I think if he was not in Lake Placid, it would have just been another run of the mill movie, the back and forth between him and Brendon Gleeson carried the whole movie.
Small bit good roles in A Time To Kill, filmed in my home state
He was great on West Wing
5:00
This is one of the best explanations, on why Hollywood is so depraved, and out of their mind, generally speaking. At a core level, they can empathize, and respect evil. Its their job. It's extremely hard to do that, and it not affect you.
Of course not _all_ of them are like this. There are a number of artists that remains, untwisted, so to speak. And those tend to be either really dumb, or really smart people, curiously.
Before Disney had jack sparrow, we had porthos the pirate
FLATLINERS!!
I had served with his father NICHOLAS PLATT, at the American Embassy in Manila.
He was our AMBASSADOR.
He has to be cast for the lead roll of the Harry Caray story.
Loved the Bronx is Burning
also great in fargo series
Bill Veeck brought showbiz to baseball way before Steinbrenner even owned a team.
This man has to bring up the fucking budget every time they play their intro. WE FUCKING GET IT, DUDE.
Platt is wrong when he says that Steinbrenner brought the goofy entertainment aspects to baseball. Being from Cleveland he was influenced by the great Bill Veeck, the owner of the Indians in the 40s and the St Louis Browns who was fanatical about promotion.
How do I get a BERF t-shirt?
I was only listening to this and I had to keep reminding myself that it wasn’t Bill Pullman.
Long live Jimmy King!!!
Thanos! The ultimate villain with a purpose. Thanos is like the Government.
C’mon, Rich. How can you have Oliver Platt on and not ask him about, “Diggstown?” It is one of the most underrated movies of all time. Very disappointed. Despite this oversight, still love the show.
Lake Placid!!
Interesting observation to contemplate that even villains believe they're doing "good work." I never considered that.
Did anyone else think that was tyne daily just for a split second
He's a great actor. But I'm looking at him and I'm thinking: He looks so familiar. And then it comes to me: Mike Myers playing his father in I Married an Axe Murderer.
How exactly is this guy underrated? He has been around a long long time. You guys are fools
Jimmy King
Perfect example of that villain thinking they were doing the right thing,,,,, Kevin spacey in seven
WWJKD!!!! What would Jimmy King do?
he was a great steinbrenner
I'd give more credit to Bill Veeck with the idea a Baseball game entertainment.
The West Wing. Oliver's best ever performance. The West Wing.
He's a Red Sox fan. He lost a few points with me. On the other hand he rocks as an actor!
Lake placid
I began streaming "The Bear" series after this interview; and because I like Oliver but after 18 episodes and the characters dialect feels like F U and F U back over and over again, it began to be bit derivative, gratuitous and stale...It had such potential for growth...
Has there ever yet been a 'false'?
Cicero
That's what English people think of Americans. And so many Americans worship English people.
*I'm the **_1K Like..._* 😳🤦🏽♂️
This is Lewis Black
Ah my favorite side meat
Oliver Platt is starting to look like Deepak Chopra .
Rich says the same lame comment EVERY SINGLE TIME after the intro. He says "that's it, that's our production value"
That's a whole lot of "likes" and "literallys" for a 64 year old man.
Don't know why "Unc" is being such a b*tch about his funding of the "Bear". It's only been open a month or two and already he's thinking about pulling out? C'mon Unc, give it at least a year for crying out loud.
Bill Veeck introduced a lot stupid non-baseball elements and also was from Ohio.
The yankees the best team that money can buy.
Glad he decided not to name Biden, dude is already having a rough time
Painful to listen to. This guy cannot tell a story, and the Jack lemon practice of repeating the beginning of sentences four or five times gets old.
Rich Eisen doesn’t let his guest talk
Rich has got to quit with the Jimmy Fallon over laugh when he is interviewing celebs.
Why is Lewis Black playing Oliver Platt?
Over rated interviews
